Hard to choose just one card, but I think it has to be Balance. It's among the most broken cards printed and I really have to wonder if the creators really thought it was balanced. I mean, if you set it up, you get Armageddon, Wrath of God, and Mind Twist for two mana. It's just insane.

I agree that Rancor, Cabal Therapy, and the Scroll are never going to be reprinted, but I don't think Nantuko Shade or Spiritmonger are out of the realm of possibility. They are very good, but not broken. I don't think Carnophage will get reprinted because black generally doesn't get uber-efficient weenies anymore.

I agree with all of these, but I just can't see Rancor, Man-o-War, or Rogue Elephant being reprinted.
I'd also like to see
Scroll Rack
Sarcomancy
Silver Knight (although WW's 2cc slot is awful full)
Mutilate
Survival of the Fittest
Fetch lands
Skizzik
Barbarian Ring
Grim Lavamancer
Wall of Roots
Vindicate
Spiritmonger
Thunder Spirit
Gaea's Blessing
Nantuko Shade
and, because I can dream, Cursed Scroll (yes, I know it's broken and would do bad things to the format, but I really, really love this card).

I thought the same. I can't wait to put it into my T&N deck. Hello Turn 4!!

Check the thread about the Scrye preview. Storm is back. So, they could reprint Brain Freeze, but my bet is they'll want to avoid reprinting a lot of the cards that have the old mechanics so they can print more new cards with the mechanics.
No flanking cards have been spoiled yet. I really want to see another haste flanker a la that guy from Mirage whose name escapes me and I can't look it up right now = I suck.
With the kobold generating land, I'm almost ready to bet we see Rogaah (or whatever his name is) return along with some other kobolds. It would be cool for goblins to take a break and have kobolds fill in.
Given that we have confirmed merfolk, Rootwater Thief and Merfolk Assassin could make a comeback.

Yup! Fact or Fiction has long been a tourney staple. I agree with the sentiment to some extent, but not the example.
I'm not sure what I want reprinted. Maybe Scroll Rack.

Totally agreed here. Also, it seems like we are getting some quality cards in the set: Incinerate, Mogg Fanatic, Crucible of Worlds, Troll Ascetic,, and probably Platinum Angel. That's already looking pretty good to me.
The cards that get reprinted in core set after core set are generally iconic staples. They are cards that demonstrate to new players what each color can do, and some of them remain standard staples: Naturalize, Wrath of God. So, no, I don't think they should restart from scratch, and if they did, Wizards would likely think some of the oft-reprinted cards should go back in anyway.
I also don't want legends or multi-color in core. It's yet one more thing for a new player to learn at the beginning. This is already the most complicated game in history. We shouldn't be looking to make it harder for beginners to learn it. Also, I do like that legends only get printed in one set. It makes them more special and fits the flavor.
What I would like in core are fewer bad cards, like those artifacts that gain you life when you cast a spell of a cretain color (Demon's Horn, et. al., and some of the suckier auras.

White Knight and Black Knight would like a word with you.

For this week, I voted:
Guardian Idol, but it was a close call. I like both cards.
Sketch B:When I voted I thought this was no contest. I can't believe people are actually voting for sketch A! It's boring! It's typical! Sketch B is interesting and full of menace. And for any of you that think it looks like a wolf, when is the last time you saw a wolf in the sky? Also, I dont' think you've ever seen a real wolf if you think that. That head is shaped much more like a bat's head. And, who cares if there is only one in the picture?
Flavor: Conrad, but I didn't like either very much. I prefer Dickinson in general.
One more week until the brand vote. I wonder what the card vs. card will be next week. We've done all the colors, a sorcery vs. a sorcery, an artifact vs. an artifact, and a YMTC vs. a YMTC. That probaboly leaves either enchantment vs. enchantment or land vs. land. Maybe it'll be Quicksand vs. Desert.

I have no input on the other pictures, except that the angel looks great and the others are meh.

That would probably piss off collectors. I like the white-bordered core set. It sets apart instantly from the expansions and makes the original versions more special.
I think it will be the expansion symbol, but maybe it could be something truly wacky, like changing the rarity distribution in boosters, the number of cards in boosters, etc.

I kind of like Horror of Horrors but I've never actually used it for anything, so that could get replaced with something, maybe Order of Yawgmoth or Drekavac. I don't mind the Drudge, although, again, I tend to think of it as a common.

I'd really like to see Flamebreak, also. As a bonus, it hits players, so it helps deal damage out quickly. I know it hits the controller too, but if you are playing sometype of Sligh or RDW, that doesn't matter too much.
I do think Brainstorm is too powerful for core. It's pretty ridiculous. I can see Telling Time making it instead of Sleight.
I'd love to see Mutilate make the core set, but it probably won't. I think White is the color that gets equilateral sweepers. Barter in Blood would be very cool.
Remove Soul definitely needs to be replaced with Exclude, but I doubt it will. I agree with getting rid of Highway Robber for the zombie.
I'd like to see Imaginary Pet get replaced by something. Maybe Cerulean Sphinx? I hate the Pet.
If there is an enchantment subtheme or theme going on, it would be fun to have the five embraces from Urza block back: Serra's Embrace, Shiv's Embrace, Zephid's Embrace, Gaea's Embrace, and Vampiric Embrace. They aren't that great, but they are fun for limited and casual. I don't know what they would replace.
I'd also really like Regeneration, Stream of Life, and the circles returned to commons. They take up uncommon slots that could be used for better cards. I learned the game with those as commons and I didn't get confused or frustrated. X-spells can be commons; they aren't that complicated.

Yeah, the Swords probably are too powerful. Ditto the Witness, but maybe at the rare level? Recollect and Peel do seem like good core staples, but Char copies an Alpha card (Psionic Blast) but now in the correct color. So, it could move to core. I thought about Crash Landing and Silhana Ledgewalker, too.
Glad to get some discussion on this topic.

Here's my list of a card from each set that should make it into core. Some of these have been reprinted previously. I tried to make the list of only cards that could actually make it, so no multicolor, legends, set mechanics, or broken cards.
Arabian Nights: Old Man of the Sea or Khabal Ghoul. Neither is really broken and both highlight their color's themes.
Antiquities: Transmute Artifact
Legends: Thunder Spirit. One of my all-time favorite creatures. I love White Weenie.
The Dark: Goblin Wizard. Hard to pick from this sub-par set. This is an interesting goblin.
Fallen Empires: Order of Leitbur because Hymn to Tourach has no chance.
Ice Age: Zuran Orb
Alliances: Ivory Gargoyle. Another favorite creature.
Coldsnap: Adarkar Valkyrie. I'm a sucker for angels.
Mirage: Dissipate. Probably too good to get reprinted, but it's a fantastic counter.
Visions: Natural Order. Secret Force is fun to play.
Weatherlight: Gaea's Blessing. A multi-faceted card.
Tempest: A tough set to choose from, because there is so much good stuff here. I doubt Cursed Scroll could make it to core, so I'm torn between Scroll Rack and Coffin Queen.
Stronghold: Horn of Greed. Give Howling Mine a rest.
Exodus: Survival of the Fittest. This is probably too good and would create hell in Extended. Still, it's a great card and not as bad as Oath of Druids.
Urza's Saga: Sneak Attack for the win. Like Tempest, there is too much to choose from.
Urza's Legacy: Weatherseed Treefolk. The manlands are also really great. This set rocks!
Urza's Destiny: Phyrexian Negator. May not be as broken without Dark Ritual around.
Mercadian Masks: Ick! Um, Bribery, I guess.
Nemesis: Ick again. Kill Switch might be fun.
Prophecy: Avatar of Woe. Introduces alternate casting costs to the core set.
Invasion: Crypt Angel because I like angels and it demonstrates allied colors.
Planeshift: Flametongue Kavu. I can dream, right?
Apocalypse: There is little here that fits into a core set. I'm going with Penumbra Wurm, but it's probably not a good core card.
Odyessey: Haunting Echoes.
Torment: Nantuko Shade. Another favorite creature.
Judgement: Browbeat, but that's because there is a lack of anything here that goes in core. Maybe the incarnations?
Onslaught: The fetchlands, of course.
Legions: Caller of the Claw.
Scourge: The best cards have non-core mechanics, so Call to the Grave.
Mirrodin: Oblivion Stone. I miss the days of Nevinyrral's Disk.
Darksteel: Sword of Light and Shadow and Sword of Fire and Ice.
Fifth Dawn: Eternal Witness because what else can you possibly pick?
Champions: Gifts Ungiven. A highly strategic and interactive card. Promotes interesting decks and is splashable.
Betrayers: Flames of the Blood Hand for lack of anything better.
Saviors: Promise of Bunrei. Seems very white to me and makes ***ging lots of fun.
Ravnica: Char. This card has core set written all over it.
Guildpact: Plagued Rusalka. Not much here for core.
Dissension: Condemn because it's the closest we'll ever get to StP. I wouldn't argue with Spell Snare either.
Agree? Disagree? Think I'm a reject for going through the list of every set and seeing what's there?
