Yeah, all the Leylines are like that. I hope at least one major deck abuses them this way - first turn dropping a Leyline it would never be able to play. That'd be sweet. But I'm sure R&D made them all with that in mind, so they're not too abusive when played out of pie.

Or they could just, you know, be Wizards and forget about game breaking **** like that...

Iunnho, it's WIZARDS we're talking about here... *shrugs*

    [SNIPPED]

the look on your opponents face when its the only permanent on the table when you play it would be priceless

OMG, reading this made me have the thought:

This is why they didn't reprint Obliterate in Ninth.

First of all, ok I know it is my first post but this card is extracted from the french magazine "Mana rouge" (Red mana) and despite it is another big blue unplayable card it is real (damn)

"Briffaud celeste" (celestian big worm) 3UU
    creature: leviathan R
    flying
When Briffaud celeste comes into play, target opponent gains control of all permanents you control.

    8/8

"Could you give the world for such monster?"
artist rk post card number 96 (?)/165 (the number is really small)

Do not flame me that it is a fake (go buy the magazine to know that it is true) but you can flame me because it is such an unplayable card :wink2:

if another french reader of this magazine could provide a scan, I would be happy, because i do not own one.

Okay guys, I had one thing I wanted to say about your comparisons to LEveler, but what strikes me is one thing:

Does it really give your opponent everything AFTER it comes into play? If so, then YES, this SUCKS.

However, if it somehow gives your opponent everything but it, then HECK no, it does not suck. How often does Blue play permanents? Never

Exactly. The only thing I can find wrong with this is that it's Yet Another Leviathan Flier. Wizards has restructued how it thinks of Blue into being the immaterial color, yet it continues to be given flier after flier. WHY IS FLYING BLUE? Sure, a wizard must love to levitate, it's a fascinating experience, but what the heck does Blue gain from a combat ability? A COMBAT ability. For BLUE. Why would Blue bother?

We can easily have an artifact that can copy another artifact (I don't think this is proper, but it is true with Sculpting Steel and even though that card costed 3 it never saw play)

So it seems clear to me that the RU mana requirement will be what allows it to change its target. What I don't get is what Red has to do with artifacts. Red blows up artifacts. Blue builds, tinkers, reshapes, lives, breathes, dates, licks, BE's artifacts.

    How do they get along?

Of course, I am equally mystified by how Green is involved with Plague Boiler, as well as ... by the general ideas that have been going with the artifact cards. BLoodletter Quill - Black without black mana (life payment), However could not be a Black card if it didn't require life payment, so because the only remaining color that wants cards and to use an artifact to get them is Blue, we have a card that needs BLue mana to be a BLue card which is NOW "simply better"^tm than Jayemdae Tome, yet however the Black mana requirement remains.

The card is just so wrong. Then with Selesnya, they go and give it that awesome card selector AND Glorious Anthem soundbox they call a Crown, and it's White-Green why? Why is it that an artifact with no color allows you to see what's coming up on your next draw and power up your creatures based on alignment agreements (color) of thoughts of creatures you haven't had yet (library), and it is the addition of White and Green mana (hint, not Blue or Black mana) that allows you to do the even-on-its-own arbitrarily awesome feat of selection that is Scry 1 (the move to bottom ability).

In case you want me to summarize, why is the artifact the awesome coolness of abilities that it has, yet the White and Green mana let you do the library trick?

The Red-White one, the one of the colors THE LEAST inclined to card selection or library searching or even draw of any form (look up the words using Gatherer in t2. You may be surprised), gets Sunforger, an equipment which is almost too good in it's own right, treading on the heels of former aggro-breaker Bonesplitter, and ALSO has an ability which in a simple sense gives you awesome control and card advantage because of the 'grab any instant (the 4 mana thing isn't a limit to Red White decks)' ability, and more complex than that are all the stack tricks you can do with this ability because of how it is worded (manipulating library in response, split cards).

What is the direction Wizards is going with this? I can visualize the daunting task of the Ravnica ddesign team having to basically set forward the structure of al three sets in addition to actually printing Ravnica, but if that's true, then YOU DON'T DO IT, and leave it to when you think about it more.

Of course, credit is due where credit is due, so good job Wizards, for managing to print something. But it just makes me weary with caution. Not annoyed, as it may seem, but... very, weary, like this has become my burden, which it has. This set will hang around in t2 for 2 years, and certainly won't leave the other formats it has impacted for a long time. Any screw-up is a profound.. event.

Oh my God... After reading your hint, it seems:
"Metti in gioco X pedine creatura Pegaso 1/1 bianche con volare, dove X è pari al totale dei tuoi punti vita."

    Translation:
"Put X 1/1 white Pegasus creature tokens with flying into play, where X is your life total". OMG

Almost, but one thing is wrong:

If you wanted to say, "Where X is your life total", you would say "dove X e [the] totale dei tuoi punti vita"

Now, using my awesome knowledge of old languages by means of Shakespeare and my trusty Oxford dictionary, I can reason that 'pari al totale' is something which means 'fraction of the total' or 'part of the total', and I would be inclined to think half.

Remember this line from King Lear:

Fool: Thou hast pared thy wit o' both sides and left nothing i' the middle.
    [Enter Goneril]
Here comes one o' the parings

A paring is the half of something which is cut, like an egg (as is the extended metaphor from this example), an apple or some other.

So, this spell isn't as broken as we all think.

Put into play HALF YOUR LIFE TOTAL so many Pegasus tokens 1/1 and Flying

"Monumentale" seems to long; I'm for "Moratoria".
Of the remaining text, I can read "Rimuovi dal gioco una carta non terra bersaglio presente in un cimitero, tutte le altre carte con lo stesso nome di quella carta presenti nei cimiteri e tutti i permanenti con quel nome"
"Remove from the game target nonland card in a graveyard, all card with the same name on all graveyards and all permanents with the same name".

Underlined words are unclear; Italicized text seems a bit redundant.

We can be absolutely certain that the text is this, templated, (Assuming your vision is good), for the following reasons:

"Remove from the game target nonland card in a graveyard, all other cards with the same name as that card in all graveyards, and all permanents with that name."

If it only affected the one graveyard, it would compress the first two specifications into the one statement "all cards with the same name as target card in that graveyard". But it doesn't.

and, yes, i too read something as: Niv-Mizzet = Number One in rotated flavor text... or Niv-Mizzet = THE ONE

Don't you guys realize how significant it is that the flavor text appears in QUOTES?

Do you not realize who is saying that?

It's him! Niv-Mizet himself has concocted this beautiful gem of mathematics, linguistics, typographics, leetspeek, ....

He realizes his own awesomeness and is prepared to show off to others who equal his insane level of intelligence.

But most importantly, he has transcended his own existence, and is aware that he exists only on a card which is turned sideways very often!!!

    Good game, NivMiz, good game.

I do not believe this is genuine.

It doesn't fit current style, it has those strange words, but most importantly, it simply cannot be a picture of an Izzet Guildmage.

There is a strong argument going for the guy on the cover of the precon box, just because he's there.

This guy not only shows a person NOT doing what his mechanics have been confirmed to (brokenly and most flavorfully incorrectly) be, but is quite nonblue and nonred. There are blood tubes inside his arms and upper body. WHY? The glasses are cool, but everything else screams Odyssey style sacrificial minion pic.

What is the meaning of "leyline" flavorwise? Is it a type of mentality, theory, or policy that a group or a mage would enforce? The art is where I'm coming from: it looks almost like the forefront of a battle or a shield of sorts. Almost reminds me of Green Lantern hehe.

I'd also like to speculate that the English name may be Lifeforce Leyline - but then, in a cycle, it wouldn't appear alphabetically together in lists.

    You haven't heard of LEyline?

a Leyline is a ... resource... geez, what's the name...

SUPPLY LINE!! that's it, It's a supply line which is pre-laid on untaken territory to gain an advantage in combat. Very excellently picked word.

I will gladly decipher it if no one has yet.

Leyline of the Vital Force 2GG
    Enchantment

-If Leyline of the Vital Force is found in your starting hand, you may begin the game with this card in play.
-The power of all creature's are nullified.
The point of union between sovereignty and meat.

    You have it wrong:

Leyline of Lifeforce (the Latin languages call things like this as a singular noun.)

If this card is in your initial hand, you may begin the game with it in play. (I can't believe this isn't given reminder text explaining to what time this refers)
The magic of creatures (again, given singular meaning) is not able to be countered.

It's so obvious. I trnaslated that with a high school background of French and Spanish.

Hi, I've just come to announce my existence...

    .... umm.... HI!!!!!!

    .... (nervous voice) carry on....

    WAIT!!

I'm probably going to ask for a monoblue banner soon. I'm just deciding what cards I love. Probably time ones. ALL of them. Extra time, loss of time, speeding of time, manipulation of time, pockets of time...

Most important will be the flavor text.... I have to think of something catchy.

Oh, and I think the people here don't say it often enough:

    Topher,

    YOU ARE AWESOME.

I am royally confused by the above post,

so benefit of the doubt, 3/4

I like the "I was Charlie Davidson"

You couldm ake it funnier if it was somewhere in the middle in normal text as though it were an offhand fact you were just mentioning and expecting people to believe.
