Bringing this up because I'm still plugging away at my cube! Simic was seeming a bit lackluster until I realized and interesting post Squirrley posted awhile back had a lot of merit: Simic Threshold. It has interesting ties to several other decks in my prospective cube including Gruul pump style midrange, U/B long game spells, G/B graveyard, and U/R spells matter. What would a Simic threshold deck look like in Peasant? What sort of cards might one add that wouldn't be embarrassing in other decks? Thanks, Tiger.

ok, so a bit off topic, but in watching some mtgo cube drafts, I've seen tenth edition uncommon all-star tidings. Why is this not a thing in most cubes?

If someone were thinking of diving into modern with a rather general hate bear list, what would people recommend?
Also, as an added thought, which would be in general cheaper? Cruel control, or hate bears? Also, and people might be biased, which is more relevant currently in modern?

Thanks a ton Squirrely! Best piece of advice of gotten so far! on that note, I've started to assemble dual color cards to fit Squirrely's advice.
    W/B-
Zealous Persecution-good for a quick rush in token decks. thought it would be a nice tool
Underworld Coinsmith-With the talk of overlapping strategies from Squirrely, I figured it would go nice in any enchantment deck, specifically Junk. Its also a fine guy that chips away at their life behind the scenes.
Pillory of the Sleepless-Arguably could be One Thousand Lashes, but I liked the cheaper cost. Is great in junk enchantments and Control Orzhov, or maybe shuts down their best blocker or utility creature in tokens
Tidehollow Sculler-A card put in to help Orzhov control, but is also hand disruption on a dude for tokens. Also he's a zombie artifact. Why not?
Mortify-Great in any deck playing black or white
Before I go on, I feel its important to highlight a few realizations I had. 1. No rares. The cube will be fine without it. 2. flashback cards (like Lingering souls and unburial Rights) will be featured under their casting cost's colors, because they are just fine without the flashback. Could it unbalance the cube? Thoughts? Anyway.
    U/B-
Dimir Guildmage-I originally wanted to put one of the two guildmage choices per color as options for all ten dual colors. The orzhov ones just weren't what W/B wanted to do. But the dimir one is here for his long game sustain in any colors running blue or black. Also your opponent occasionally discards a card.
Baleful Strix-This guy is value town! Also, if you're abusing blink, might as well right?
Dinrova Horror-A finisher in any dimir based control deck. Also, reanimator says hi. And you have no board state.
Soul Manipulation-Sometimes you just don't get those cards that let you abuse the graveyard, so getting them back to your hand while slowing them down seems sweet
Consult the Necrosages-Mind Rot or Divination. Your choice.
    W/R-
Boros Charm-Is a sweet finisher or savior in aggro decks, and is a house in Boros Burn/control
Lightning Helix-Again, BOROS CONTROL! It also is a huge tempo swing in aggro
Goblin Trenches-Ok, Ok, it says rare. BUT, it was printed as an uncommon in vintage masters. So it counts! Right? It heaps the pressure on in aggro, and gives an almost unending supply of fodder for BWR sacs
Moonhold-This ones kind of a pet card. I haven't seen too many floating around. But I thought it would be sweet in Boros/America control. Could also be huge tempo loss in aggro? If it doesn't work out, Truefire Paladin is in
Lastly, Sunhome Guildmage-Keeps that pressure going!
Whew. Thats enough to chew on for one day. Hope to see everyones thoughts! Hears to a great cube start,
    Tiger

So my friends and I are planning on making an almost pauper cube…something like 15 card boosters with 1 land, 1 rare, 3 uncommon and 10 common to mimic an actual draft. thoughts in general on these archetypes?
W/U control with a couple cards for blink shenanigans
W/R aggro solid, but a little bland. maybe with something besides the walls strategy to spice it up would be nice
W/G enchantments. I like the idea, but considering the cube is only 360 cards, I'm not sure how well it can be supported
    W/B tokens
U/R spellslinger with the possibility of flashback and threshold as sub-themes
    U/G tempo
U/B control/reanimator… with the possibility of a little help in other colors
    R/G midrange/ramp monsters
R/B aggro…maybe with hellbent or something to make it different
    G/B morbid/rock value
Thoughts? what cards in those rough archetypes worked well in your cube? keep in mind that the cube is around 360 cards. Thanks in advance,
    Tiger

Nah. After really thinking about it, Tariel is going to be seriously worth the price. There are an abundance of good creatures in graveyards, whereas in my meta really the only tokens are Prossh kobolds. Thanks for all the help, and when I do buy the deck, Ill tell you how it performs!

Also, how crucial is Tariel? Could Oros sub, or is that unthinkable?

Ironically enough I also have a High Priest of Penance! Thank you bad Orzhov standard deck! Anyway I would still like to force the Dictate in. Anything been underperforming recently?

Thanks for your suggestions! I think Teysa will probably replace dread just because I have a foil of her already. Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker will probably replace No Mercy as well. I also just snagged a foil copy of Wild Ricochet that will also make it in. The idea of replacing Dong with delirium is also an attractive choice. Paralectric Feedback is something I would really consider because of one guy who has a couple of Enduring Ideal decks. Flashing back increasing vengeance would be good times with that. Lastly, I also have a pretty sexy fnm promo of Dictate of the Twin Gods that Id like to stick somewhere. What would you take out for them? Gunna have to keep my eyes open with Kiyomaro, but dawn charm or mana tithe might end up going in. Earnest Fellowship is something I never really thought of that would hit Zur really hard. That alone makes it good.

    Thanks again, Tiger

Hey! Was thinking of joining mtgsalvation but never got around to it…until I saw your list. I had to comment! Your list looks like exactly the thing I was hoping to find, something fresh. My meta (irl) has gotten a little stale, so I was looking for something to shake it up. And here we are! I am STRONGLY considering buying this list, but as I totaled it up on tcg player, it was 133$+ without the forcefield. Yikes! The top eleven most expensive cards were as follows: forcefield- a ludicrous amount of cash, Dong Zhou, the Tyrant-26$, No Mercy-9$, Tariel, Reckoner of Souls-8$ (but we can't cut her), Hallowed Burial-7$, Mind's Eye-6$, Thawing Glaciers-5.50$, Lightning Greaves-5$, Solemn Simulacrum-4.50$, Chromatic Lantern-4$, and Dread-3$. Those last couple aren,t so bad, but I would like to hear what you would replace those with (as far as cheaper options). Some of the more notorious decks in my meta are a volron/control auras Zur, the Enchanter, a sac/voltron Prossh, Skyraider of Kher, a graveyard/voltron The Mimeoplasmdeck, artifact shenanigans Sydri, Galvanic Genius, Balthor, the Defiled Black stuff, and a Roon of the Hidden Realms blink deck. There are some others, but I can bring those up later if they end up being a huge issue. Some things to think about: is this a deck a one trick pony irl, are there any cards you have on the list to try out that would be suitable replacements, any cards you were sad to let go?

After thinking about that, theres a bit of a hipsterish deck a brewed a few months back, but it is missing something and I can't figure it out. Things to keep in mind: as per rules of the deck, it has to be under 35$, so to give you some wiggle room, I'll probably cut the wayfarer and put it in this deck if I make it. The deck is over at tapped out.com under the deck name hipstermander (sorry about not leaving a link, mtgsalvation won't let me yet).

Thanks again for your time, and hope to see this deck shake up my meta! Cheers, Tiger
