CDS you knew I was from around OC. I didn't go then but my friend was the one who took first.
Oops:D
I definitely forgot... I cant remember your friends name...was it Kyle? anyway, we both got lucky to get into the finals, 2 players with more points than us drew in the last round and both got knocked out of T4. I traded someone the Morningtide hat that they gave us for 1st and 2nd, Im bad with names, but he was a really cool player.
Either way, I will probably see you there a lot this summer. Ill mostly likely be at the FNM tomorrow as well. Maybe ill see you there.
And the cost of drug usage is life, make no mistake. Even if you could successfully argue that drugs made an appreciably positive influence on the art of the world (and I don't believe you could), it still wouldn't be worth it, because for every Freud, you get a thousand (a million?) crackheads with enormous potential, but who do nothing with their life except die miserable and poor.
The cost of using drugs is life?
Tylenol will kill me? What about Nyquill or Excedrin? Chocolate? cofee? tea?
All of these substances changes how the brain works and fall into the category of "drugs", but I fail to see how RESPONSIBLE use of any of these substances, to which you could add Cannabis, Alchohol, and many other recreational drugs, leads to a loss of life. Please note my emphasis on the word responsible.
Also, you must have very little interaction with the real world to make sweeping generalizations about getting thousands or millions of "crackheads" for every one briliant mind... Do you have any idea the number of people in the United States who are admitted daily users of Cannabis? Close to 1/3 of the population.....Up that number to 2/3 if you count those who have tried it. So by your logic the general majority of Cannabis users are useless to society, meaning that damn near 1/3 of our population are complete drugged out wastes.
However, many of the people in our highest professions choose to indulge...teachers, doctors, lawyers, musicians, actors, artists, scientists and countless other successfull professionals are not only regular Cannabis users but many believe so strongly in their right to do so that they join a little organization called NORML... Unfortunately your argument that use of drugs causes people to waste their potential is very very flawed. IRRESPONSIBLE use of drugs leads to that...
I really am losing my mind with the amount of ill-informed, sweeping generalizations being made by users in this thread. My guess is those of you arguing against personal freedom (and for some reason against ART for chists sake) are either: Young, not exposed to a diverse group of people, or simply misguided... To chose for yourself to not do drugs is fine, but to assume that drug use is causes waste of life is preposterous, especially when you (to the best of my knowledge) do not even have first hand experience with any type of drug use, making you not the best judge as to what drugs effects truly are.
I respect your choice NOT to do drugs....
Why can you not respect the choice of others to responsibly take them?
(this question is posed at ANYONE)
Do you honestly think that drug abuse contributed to his theories? Doubtful.
You are obviously a bit uneducated about Freud then... His interest in the meaning of dreams was first inspired by his cocaine-fueled dreams.:teach: And this isnt just speculation, he himself admited it. EDIT:completely and utterly sarnath'd by Mikey
Also in your post earlier you couldnt think of any drug user who had contributed to society....How about every musician ever? Or do you not consider the gift of music to be a contribution? I will not even get into the fact that the founding fathers of the United States were Hemp farmers, but Im sure you dont think the contributed much becuase they may have been :gasp: growing what is now an illegal plant!!!!
You are obviously right that drug users are complete wastes of space:rolleyes: Unfortunately from reading your previous posts, any attempt to point out the faults in your ideology won't result in much...
Demonize and hate mind altering substances all you want, but please be a bit more informed about drug users as a whole, and not just the crackheads and heroin addicts you see portrayed on television. Many drug users are competent, hard working citizens who provide for themselves and their families and chose to indulge in these substances responsibly.
Despite what may have been drilled into your skull by the D.A.R.E. program, there is such a thing as responsible drug use by adults...
*dons Third eye*
I'm sure the usual people who point out the "scientific" evidence that marijuana smoke is more hazardous than tobacco smoke will show up. In which case it will be countered by comparing marijuana to alcohol in terms of short-term effects. Someone will mention prohibition and how well that worked and then thread will end.
*removes third eye*
It happened before you even posted that....lol There wasnt really any other outcome for a thread like this was there?
Rather, what they should do is pass a law that says that anyone who kicks a smoker in the shin gets $10. That should be a motivating factor for change.
I can assure you all that will motivate from a smoker will be to kick you right back...not to mention they are holding something that is on fire:rolleyes:
Its fine if you want to find smoking disgusting and what have you, but to try and promote violence (as miniscule, immature, and inneffective it may be) is outright absurd... Most smokers are completely fine with going outside of establishments to have their ciggarettes when the law requires us to do so, and we do it with no ill-will towards non-smokers. Why do you have some deep-seeded hatred for ciggarette smokers? Your statement was wholly rediculous and not funny by a long shot.

Sure. I might be wrong on this, and I can accept that. It's just odd that people would vote in agreement with my idea and then not even post to defend their opinions.
Because most people who would support something like this probably wouldnt be to keen on arguing against everyone who would argue for personal freedoms. At least thats my guess.
Saying that we should outlaw Tobacco (or, as I beleive, anything anyone chooses to put in ones own body) just because other people dont enjoy, or agree with it, is no more reasonable than saying that because you are allergic, we should outlaw Kittens......Please Think of the Kittens...
But seriously, its a matter of personal choice or Federal intrusion over what I substance can put in my body. Ill take personal choice.
Smoking is less dangerous to the mind than marijuana, and smokers of joints understand you need tobacco to make the cigarette light properly.
I would like to refute this point completely... At least in America we dont put tobacco in our joints...unless you count a tobacco cigar wrapper. When tobacco is (rarely) actually mixed into it, we call that an "english" as that seems to be the custom on your side of the globe... And truthfully unless you are buying wet and uncured cannabis (which means you are paying for water weight) they should burn compleely fine either way... I wont even get into the facts that have been uncovered concluding that Cannabis smoke contains far fewwer hydrocarbons and is actually a bronchial dilator as opposed to constrictor (tobacco) which allows for the free expulsion of dead lung tissue which prevents the build up of dead and cancerous tissues in the lungs...anyway on to the rest of your post...
Illegal drugs are those which mess with the mind as well as the body; tobacco, aside from addictive qualities which I believe not everyone suffers, does not in the same way as cannabis or LSD.
Please stop using such insane and over-reaching generalizations about illegal drugs. Anyone who has used cannabis with any sort of frequency knows that it is not comparable in the least to the effects of LSD... I understand your point that Tobacco does not have nearly the mind altering affects as cannabis, but to put marijuana and LSD on the same level of intoxication is absolutely absurd.
Anyway onto the actual issue at hand...
In my home state of New Jersey a smoking Ban was put into effect last year or perhaps the year before. Anyway, smoking in bars, resturants etc are no completely restriced and as a smoker, I have come to terms and accepted this. People eating who dont smoke shouldn't have to be exposed to airborne carcinogens purely because I choose to smoke, and I comply with all of these laws.
But to outlaw tobacco smoking entirely, shows a complete lack of understanding of the inherent nature of humans. We strive to find intoxicants, and have since the beginning of history. To outlaw intoxicants only results in turning otherwise law-abiding citizens into criminals as they buy/use their now illegal substances. I wont even bother to go into the fact that making drugs illegal only creates a black market for these drugs and invite VIOLENT criminals into the business of selling these drugs to users. Making a drug (in which tobacco falls) illegal will not erase the seemingly insatiable thirst that human beings have for mind-altering and recreational substances, and if the past 6000 years is any indicator, it isnt going to stop anytime soon

If you want to see the Prohibition years all over again, this is the way, lol.
I completely agree with you, but do you mean Prohibition like we have right now with the United States war on Drugs? Specifically Cannabis... When 2/3 of the people in your country have tried or regularly use a substance, yet it remains illegal we have ourselves right back in the same situation as 20's Alchohol Prohibition...They shoveled money at the problem, fighting and jailing thier own citizens and in the end it did nothing to actually dissuade alchohol use, just made a large percentage of Americans criminals because 1 small subsection of people were loud enough to complain about the "evils" they percieved in alchohol.
Dont kid yourselves, we ARE living in Prohibition... and the $500 BILLION we have spent in the last 35 years has produced what results? Ahhhhh yes....1000's of non-violent drug offenders in jail.

where are the other 12 people who said smoking should be illegal? I don't seem to have anyone here who agrees with me.
I do like this card quite a bit... While it does take away the surprise factor of traditional counters, it is still quite strong, and with little enchantment removal seeing MD play, this is most likely going to stick to the table once it hits...
And everyone complaining about having to keep U open every turn just needs to stop. Any other counterspell you would have in your hand (as opposed to an enchantment on the table) would cost more than a single Ulasttime I checked. Mono-U would love this card, and last time I checked Mono-U likes to keep mana open, and paying U to counter a known win-condition (or other priority cards) is pretty good I hear.
When played in any form of Blue control the card may as well read:
"When ~ comes into play, name a card.
The named card becomes dead weight in opponents hand"
This card is like Pithing Needle and Counterspell had a secret love-child....and it was a Blue Enchantment.
The Crusher could be a very neat trick in Limited If you already have all the lands you need in play. Thinning your deck of unwanted lands while pumping your WinCon and helping you win clashes is never bad... Plus the CC is very cheap
Release the Ants just seems much too situational...maybe even for limited
Im a bit torn about Shard Volley... 3 dmg for 1 mana is always popular....but is the Bolt effect worth sacrificing your early game? Sure late game you can throw away a land, but at that point in the game will the 3 really matter? It seems like the only time this card is really usefull is your first few turns, and then is it really worth the setback? I guess Ill have to play with the card before I know for sure... Its no Rift Bolt
Watch out the Redskins are peeking and made it in to the playoffs....where has todd collins been all my life
Thats right...keepan eye on them Skins....
Collins certainly made an impression on me tonite... His experience definitely shows even if he hasn't been around in forever. Too bad we will most likely loose him to free agency since we hve put so much time and cash into Jason Campbell.
Either way, I was more than ecstatic to see the Skins make it back to the playoffs, but if we lose to Seattle in the Playoffs AGAIN, I will be more than angry...
How would I go about turning the Rares/commons/uncommons I dont need into tix? Paying actual $$$ for boosters everytime I want to draft is starting to get to me. Are there Bots that will buy X amount of rares or commons for X Tix?
Ive never even trading or sold or bought anything from other Users only the MTGO Store.
Sorry for being so needy but Im basically completely lost.
I live in New Jersey right on the Shore, actually (and unfortunately) in a summer tourist town... (hey my family was here when it was still a colony, so im sticking with it..)
But anyway, there are literally 100's of Bars and clubs within 20 miles up and down the shore. Anyway, a man filed a similar complaint and threatened a lawsuit against many of the Bars/Clubs in town who were holding "Ladie's Night" as a weekly event, claming it was sexual discrimination that only women were given free entry to the clubs these nights. Aparently he had an effect.............for about 3 weeks...then everyone found something else to be enraged about and everyone forgot. Thats how things go now a days.
Also, I sincerely doubt that many Strip Clubs have "Ladies Nights"... Isnt every night at the Strip club Ladies Night?.....
Hi there. Im very new to MTGO and have been trying to unload commons/uncommons that I dont have use for, but Im not sure how to do it at all.
Ive heard many people say there are 1:1 trading Bots available, but where do I find them? When I go to the Trading room in MTGO all I see is "Marketplace" "Message Board Sellers" "Message Boards Buyers". How do i get to these "casual trading rooms" that I hear tell of.
Ive been spending too much money on MTGO so being able to get rid of cards I dont need for Tix or cards I do need would be great but I have no Idea how to even begin this process.
Ive searched the forum here but couldnt find any info that answered my questions... I see people say things like "type in /join 1:1" but where on earth do I type that?
Anyway sorry for the long Post for what Im sure is something Im obviously overlooking, but any help would be much appreciated for this MTGO noob.
I unfortunately have to agree somewhat. While we may be able to Beat Dstorm with some luck, our matchup against the other top decks in the Meta are very very bad...
If you really want to play U-Controll, I think Sonic Boom may have a better chance in today's meta. Time for pickles to slip back under the radar for a while then when its time Pickles will be back... Bringing Pickles might get you some wins at an FNM against some rogue decks, but for a while its not gonna be too easy.

I didnt think that there were many other players from around the Ocean County area... Glad to see Im wrong.

I know of a few other Jersey folk around on the boards...
Ill be playing in at least 1 Flight Saturday and then most likely cruising around the dealer tables.
Ill be wearing a grey Volcom Tshirt and a Brown Element knit hat, and more than likely my glasses (since i lost my contacts).
Ill definitey be looking to trade and BS with any MTGSers up at Rutgers. Feel free to scream at me to get my attention!
