If ye look at a foil siege (I got a foil monastery siege) then you can see the khans symbol right? But if ye tilt it, it turns into a dragon face thing.
No joke. Looks like they spoiled the next symbol.
They did indeed spoiled the next symbol. And way before it was shown on the Siege card..... You are kind of late...
T1 Swamp, Disowned Ancestor - arguably the best wall in standard, 4 toughness is almost impossible to overcome until mid-game. Stall aggro and mid-range decks.
T2 Forest, Kin-Tree Invocation - a 4/4 creature out on turn two for two mana? I dare you to find another way to do this in standard. Quickly start swinging for kills.
Turn 2 Tasigur is possible . But require more set-up.
T1, Opulent Palace - this strategy lets you sit on a tap land, while still economizing your turns.
T2, Dragon's Eye Savants -
Originally I ran the Guardians of Meletis, but this card is simply better.
T3, Scourge of Skola Vale - Pass turn. If your opponent tries to kill Skola by damage, sack Savants and save it. If not, block with Savants this combat round and sacrifice it into Skola on your opponent's end-step. Either way, you have an 8/8 with trample ready to fight at turn 4's start. Just by the normal meta, you will at the very least be able to trample in with it on turn 4 for 8.
:S You can't tap Scourge of Skola the turn he enter, so your turn 4 Swing for 8/8 trample doesn't work. Turn 5 tough....
Haha... guys... call me crazy, but I am considering a lot splashing Red for Flamewake Phoenix. This would be an awesome target to put in the graveyard with Taigam's Scheming and with Tasigur in play, this would cost R must of the time. This would also give access to Crater's Claws.
Anyways, I don't own any Phoenix nor do I own Crater's Claws and Bloodstained Mire. I might just forget that project
But just for the look. Anyways, I have replayed since Friday next time a get a chance to play, might as well bring some proxy for casual testing.
Christmas Land would look like:
Turn 1 - Fetch Swamp to Toughtseize
Turn 2 - Blueland drop to Taigam's Scheming
Turn 3 - Tasigur for B 2 lands untapped
Turn 4 - Phoenix for R(from yard) swing for 2/6 ongoing
I'd play 4x Gurmag Swiftwing rather than Herald of Torment, for one. And also from my own little experience I can tell that I prefer playing 4x Bile Blight way more than a 2/2 split with Drown in Sorrow.
I like the fact that you built a deck that makes reasonable use of Taigam's Scheming, I wonder though wether a playset of Satyr Wayfinder wouldn't be an improvement anyway.
Third: To me it looks like you might be facint this problem quite often: On the one hand you want to play draw go and answer your opponents spells with instants and need open mana therefore, on the other hand you want to play your own threats and need to tap out for them. - What did you experience when piloting this deck?
Hehe Last Friday, since my deck was incomplete, I tried a 1 of Gurmag Switwing and 2 Typhoid Rat. They helped stall the game a little against agro and I could at one time delve Gurmag with Soulflayer.
I don't know about Satyr Wayfinder. Taigaim's Scheming is IMO more versatile. You manipulate your top deck, remove unwanted top deck and place wanted top in any desired order. If you also know opponent hand(thanks to Toughtseize) it can be a huge advantage. While Satyr Wayfinder is a 1/1 that can help you chump block later in game. He could also screw you by milling a wanted answer.
About my experience. Good and bad for different reason. I would often accept a opening hand containing 2 lands and Taigam's Scheming, this really helped set up early game(even more if I could turn 1 Thoughtseize their hand). Afterward, it was all about my mana and my card in hand. If could cast Tasigur or any low mana creature and protect it, I would tap my mana and leave what was required to counterspell. In one game a refrained from casting Herald of Torment because I didn't had the mana to Negate his Lightning Strike so I waited a few turn until a drawn 1 more land and meanwhile tried to remove his threat. Which left me somehow low on life... In short, I tried a lot not playing my creature if I knew they could be removed. But if I had no choice. I tapped all my land and dropped a creature to block.
I really, really like the idea of a UB midrange deck. A couple of thoughts -
Soulflayer isn't where you want to be, I don't think. Thoughtseize is great, but I wouldn't run more than 3 in the main. Torrent Elemental is also great, but I also wouldn't run more than 3.
That would free up room for 2 more Bile Blight and 2 more Drown in Sorrow, which should greatly improve your aggro matches.
I appreciate your comment. I will think about it. For now I don't even own all the card listed in the deck list (like I only own 1 Soulflayer, 1 Thooughtseize and 1 Torrent Elemental).... Right now I play with substitute
I am curious about your reason for Soulflayer? A potentional 4/4 flying for 2 (with Torrent Elemental, Herald and Silumgar around) isn't bad.
About 4/4 Bile and Drown main, I will strongly think about it. My store meta seam to be all about agro and midrange.
I liked Whip of Erebos since it would help me regain life after I stabilize the board. But I also like Monastery Siege for both mode. I don't know. I will need to try all that soon, which might not be as soon I want
Edit: Made some little change in the second deck list.
I agree about Radiant Fountain. I had 1 game where I was around turn 5 and had 2 Fountain in play 1 swamp and 1 island. Though I didn't have Dissipate in that deck list. But, I liked Fountain heal. Now that I include Whip of Erebos, I could remove them.
Erebos, God of the Dead main gave me lot of draw, but he was always at 4 devotion in my game. I included Whip to help him get devotion and also for the life gain. Palace Siege was also an option. But at 5 mana, this leave no option to protect my creature.
I so f*** wish that Countersquall or a variant at 3CMC get a reprint in Dragon of Tarkir. I want to replace those Dissipate. I fear more non-creature spell than Creature.
Do we not already know what two of the DTK clan mechanics will be:
Abzan --> Outlast became Bolster (W or WG in DTK)
Mardu --> Raid became Dash (R or BR in DTK)
The question is what the last three will be:
Jeskai --> Prowess will become ??? (U or UW)... this new mechanic will be blue in nature.
Sultai --> Delve will become ??? (B or BU)... this new mechanic will be black in nature.
Temur --> Ferocious will become ??? (G or GR)... this new mechanic will be green in nature.
Yeah, we do know what 2 of the 5 new mechanic are. And we are speculating on the remaining 3.
Today, I found Glittering Wish. I don't know for you, but that ability feel really Sultai to me. Story wise, the Sultai's Khans were making pact with Rakshasa (demon cat) to gain power and influence. In Khans of Tarkir set, this was represented with Delve. In Dragon of Tarkir, Rakshasa could make greater pact with Dragon/Silumgar and retrieve lost power(exiled card). Though, I don't know how this would do once Tarkir and Fate will rotate in 2016....
Color wise, this is possible. Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver kind of summon creature from the exile. Torrent Elemental and Misthollow Griffin cast themselves from the exile.
Second idea for a Sultai mechanic, Soulflayer gain ability. Though Delve is out for Dragon of Tarkir. Maybe something like "Kicker exile x or 2 card from yard : Creature Name gain *** ability or put X counter or Target creature gain -x/-x".
Third idea for a Sultai mechanic, "Avidity (card type and/or card quantity) : If said card you own are in the exile, effect".
Rakshasa, Soul Collector --- BBB
Avidity (X Creature Card): Rakshasa,
Soul Collector gain +X/+X for each
creature card you own in the exile.
0/1
Counter Spell --- 1UB
Counter target spell.
Avidity (Instant, Sorcery): Controller
of the countered spell lose 2 life and
you gain 2 life.
I considered it, maybe in the side? I haven't played since RTR. So, their is a lot of thing I am trying actually.
I even considered going Grixis (and still do) to get access to Anger of the God. But the RR make it troublesome. Though it could still be a turn 4/5 and it wouldn't kill my creature.
I went to FNM tonight, with an "incomplete Deck" went good but not as good I hoped.
Faced 3 "agro" deck
First Match-up was against Jeskai. Did'nt have Drown in Sorrow but I drawn a bunch of creature and could put some pressure. He won burning my last 6 life with 2 spell. Second match Went wrong and couldn't control his board. o-2
Second Match-up was against Minotaur deck. I won first game and third really easily. Turn 3 Tasigur and bestow Herald. Game went as planned with Taigam's Scheming and Thoughtseize. Lost second game since I didn't draw 1 single removal and he was with 5 Minotaur smashing me with 5/4 trample. 2-1
Last Match-up was against Azorius Heroic. Won first match realy easy, lost second and turn because of "instant protection to black". Againt Drown in SOrrow could have won me the game. 1-2
-----
So, I really love that deck. Got great compliment from my opponent. Now I need to tweek it a little and finish getting the missing card.
Game Plan : Getting Tasigur as early possible (turn 3) and protect him. If possible, bestow Herald and swing with a 7/8 flying.
Taigam's Scheming make the deck run. Casting it turn 2 ensure to fill your graveyard to cast Tasigur on turn 3. You also get to decide which card you draw next.
Late game, though it doesn't replace a draw card, you can still drop your land in the grave yard and make your upkeep draw useful. Or you could also combine Taigam's Scheming with Tasigur ability.
Torrent Elemental is the card you want to put in the graveyard when you cast your turn 2 Taigam's Scheming. Exiling them while delving Tasigur will make sure you have "fuel" later in the game.
Mardu Strike Leader and Herald of Torment - Though Herald play a great role to give mobility to Tasigur, Mardu Strike Leader should probably be swapped for Soulflayer... unsure yet. Though I wanted a wide range of creature.
Erebos, God of the Dead - I was looking for a repeatable drawn engine (unsure if it is required) and if he somehow become a creature.
The "counter spell" - They mostly aim to protect Tasigur against removal.
The "removal" - Well, until Tasigur grow wing... And, there's still some big creature played around.
I will try this deck Friday. Though I still miss some/a lot of the card listed, I can still use some budget alternative.
This is also the first time since Avacyn's Restored that I build my own deck (stopped playing a little after RTR). So, I am
kind of unsure if my deck can make it against all those "Red deck win", "Abzan midrange", etc.. going around. Your opinion will
greatly be appreciated.
Side note : I also have no idea how to do a side board.
Side note 2 : If anyone could tell me what kind of deck type it is. After research, Agro-Control defined it pretty well...
Well. I will update the topic after the FMN and post my match-up
Edit 1 : Removed the Murderous Cut since must time I couldn't cast them. Going for more anti agro main, and changing Side. Removed Mardu Strike Leader and went for split Silumgar and Soulflayer.
2/2 manifest become Liliana the priestress, flip to Liliana Walker
They did indeed spoiled the next symbol. And way before it was shown on the Siege card..... You are kind of late...
