Hi all! I came to M:tG after many, many years of break and I need help. I have access to every possible Jund Card with the exception of Lilianas', Raging Ravines and BlackCleave Cliffs (ok, I have 1). Could you suggest valid replacements? My first thought was to add more removal and discard, but I haven't played modern for years. I suppose Lilianas' also help Boggle matchup. I want to play the deck at local FNMs, not big tournaments (for the time being). Thanks in advance.

4 Wanderwine Hub's + 6-8 Fetches + 1 Hallowed Fountain is enough. Smile Sygg is a Legend so I'd run 1 main + up to 2 in sideboard (propably just 1)

Not sold on it but I understand your reasoning. Instant is big though it's awesome against twin w/ blood moon as it hits everything you want.

Cool deck! Nostalgic for me (I played loam a lot - I remember the time when adding Goyf to compliment Terravore was debatable). Smile
I'd play more fetch-lands. And why do you play beast within (instead of, let's say Maelstrom Pulse)? I understand that it is a swiss knife, but aren't there better scalpels to use?

We have found two semi-reliable ways: Hornet Sting and Engineered Explosives (You board out Bloodbraid). The former is a joke of course :).

P.s. By the way I have also concluded two things when testing the deck:
    1) Firespout deals no damage if you cascade into it (so Slagstorm is way better)
    2) Doing the same underpowered thing consistently is better than doing something "explosive" once a while.

I think that EE is going to find a place in my sideboard (kills Twined-tokens and other tokens for cheap). I aslo feel that Slaughter pact is undervalued now.

Bloodbraid Elf seems to be pushing the deck in a direction I don't really like so I don't know how my romance with this deck will end now. Smile

Not too many, the only one I'm remotely concerned is Auriok Champion (Soul Sisters). But there's also Soltari Priest in the format.

P.s. I forgot that Auriok Champion has TWO protections. So right. At lest some Smother are out.

P.s.2. Another thing that I like about Combust is that it kills both Doran (and is not redirectable by spellskite if one is playing that) and Mirran Crusader. It can also hit Knight of the Reliquary most of the time.

Not sure either. It's not "solid" list. It's at brewing stage. I hate having bolts in board, but I was obliged by my team to test it that way at least for now. I'm not 100% sold on that split of terminate/smother but it's nice to kill pro-red creatures. I think that this deck need to play red removal maindeck because Mirran Crusader just kills the deck game 1. The Swords are nice though, but may be "too cute". 1drop is there just for their sake.
I like knight just because it's big (helps zoo MU) and can tutor for a man-land (and horizon canopy).

The thing is that our testing is a bit "guessing" for now (we also test other decks like merfolk).

The question is however if it isn't to narrow. GfT is also good against ZOO and sudden death isn't that much more expensive mana-wise. Quite dependant on the metagame I guess.

It can only target blue or white creatures. Spellskite is neither. Smile If the wording would be diffrent - for example "Combust deals 5 damage to target creature if it's white or blue" then it could be redirected.

P.s. That's why red elemental blast is often better than Pyroblast.

Combust! It is even better as it also can't target Spellskite and also can't be countered nor prevented (except by giving protection in response). Brainstorming is fun. Smile

I'm very fond of your opinion. It's refreshing and gives quite a bit of insight. I belive Pester-Twin to be a real contender post bans and it becoming more of a control deck with combo-kill and GfT is another "next level" from my part as it can't hit Spellskite (so can't be redirected). The other thing is that I may be a little too afraid of Deciver-Twin especcially the 1/4 Exarch as in many versions of Jund I've seen it can't be stopped if they "go of" due to lack of instant removal that can kill t4+ creatures.

P.s. Just for the sake of brainstorming - I forgot to mention a decent burn spell that is Magma Jet - nothing relevant but it's worth mentioning.

    Quote from TLK
That's like saying Bolt isn't going to be good because it doesn't outright kill a Spellskite. The burn doesn't have to always hit a creature, and a lot of times Grove can help your smaller creatures trade up. If an opponent knows you have Fire in the yard and Grove in play, they may not block because they don't want to lose their creature. Either way, you're getting damage in by destroying the blocker or not getting blocked period. The only other options are Flame Javelin (which I wouldn't mind trying) and Terminate.

However L.Bolt is relevant to creatures (Wild Nacatl & co) that Punishing Fire is not (that much - only in late game). If most of the creatures of the format had T4+ (now they are T1-3) you wouldn't play L. Bolt but let's say - Dismember in it's slot. L. Bolt is also unique in the fact it cost 1 mana.
The only creatures (from the top of my head) that P. Fire is relevant to in the predicted format are Dark Confidant, Noble Hierarch (& other mana dorks), Pestermite and Kiki-Jiki.

I understand however what you meant and that Punishing Groove = inevitability and cuting it means cuting "reach" (aka burn spells). I think that if Jund wants more burn than 4 Bolts P. Fire is the way. Hell it can ever go to the sideboard. I don't thing anything short of L.Helix is even worth mentioning and of course Javelin is too slow as we both now.

I was thinking of Bolts (4) and mix of Smother (3), Terminate (3) and Pulse (2) (+ sideboard Go for the Throat (2) if spellskite is relevant in format)

P.s. I'm not saying that my way is better (I have no problem accepting if it isn't) I'm just using my experiance and observation to brainstorm. I wouldn't post my thoughts if I wasn't expecting constructive critique.
