I wonder if the huge Jackal god statue means that he's the lead god in the pantheon. The surprising thing is that going by the other pictures we have of all the gods, the Jackal is the red-aligned one.

And yet, those formats are the ones that keep Magic afloat. EDH alone would not support Magic for even half a year.

People keep complaining about the death of counterspells, or of this or that and WotC always replies. "It is a pendulum that swings". And indeed it does.

Don't get me wrong, the card is great and I will play it, but... we're just doing this Oath thing once a block from here on out, huh? I'm way more interested in the revolution and Tezzeret's machinations than a flimsy excuse to get the "good" planeswalkers to work together.

And? You'll certainly get the cards you're talking about. Why resent a card for the people who like Planeswalkers and the good guys?

Not in terms of the cards. Of course, I'm going to be happy to see the Consulate/revolutionary-centric story on the cards. I'm just not happy to see more characters get dragged into the Gatewatch when there are already five.

I'd argue this is good. The more characters in the Gatewatch, the less they'll cycle the same characters as protagonists in future stories.

I just do not get it why they do not do magic anymore like in the old days with scary things on black, knights and stuff on white, sorcery stuff on red and blue and big stuff on green. Angels like to fight demons and the game felt like magic. Now sets got a twist that ruins all of that.

Dude, you are talking about, what? Alpha? Most expansions since then had a twist. I mean, Phyrexians are almost as old as the game. Magic has only been pure sword & sorcery in your mind only. We still get the scary stuff in black, knights in white, etc, etc.

Also, before Ravnica did you know that you wanted a two-colour factions, pseudo-Slavic city plane? Because that's super narrow, and yet it seems it's one of your favourite planes. How about you give a chance to those sets when they come instead dismissing them before seeing a single card?

You are contractually obligated to hum this whenever you play an Improvised spell.

For a card that wants to be around for several turns while doing nothing, it definitely needed to be indestructible, which would have been kind of a cool thing to see in a "curse".

You have no idea what NWO means. It's a philosophy that only applies to commons. You think this card is bad? Well, that's your opinion, but bad cards have always existed in Magic history, mostly because there are better cards, by necessity. If this card had such power that you'd call it great, it'd likely make previously made similar cards that you call great "bad", as there would be no reason to play them.

Pretty sure that "PWs cannot be phyrexianised" and " Phyrexians cannot hold a spark", more than being consistent in-world logic,

Yes and no. The story issues you have are valid, but it does make sense in world logic that "Phyrexians cannot hold a spark". Completion (not just the exchanging of body parts) kills the spark the same way death/being turned into undead creature does.

Yeah, that part is logical. What I'm saying is that it doesn't work when you deconstruct that logic to try to imagine exceptions or loopholes that allow a phyraxianised planeswalker. Regardless of logic or imaginable niche cases, that's something that cannot happen from a continuous storytelling perspective.

Pretty sure that "PWs cannot be phyrexianised" and " Phyrexians cannot hold a spark", more than being consistent in-world logic, is simply an established plot device that explains why Phyrexians haven't taken over the multiverse already. Trying to explain it away or use it to explain niche cases where a phyrexian could planeswalk will always default into null. Whether PWs /can/ be phyrexianised is moot as the story lords could never allow it. Best I can see coming out of such outcome is that PW being killed or killing themselves on the spot.

The moment a phyrexian planeswalks the whole multiverse is toast as s/he could quickly jump from plane to plane leaving some oil in each.

Just a reminder that my mention of Phyrexian influence on her was meant to be mostly mental and a part of an ongoing deterioration of Elspeth's soul. I don't believe she'll become Phyrexian nor that she's a carrier of the oil.

    No, just no.

Elspeth didn't stay long on Theros because she was scared *****less by the Heliod vs Purphoros War. Just that.

While neowalkers do not have an immunity to compleation, it's utterly preposterous to assume Elspeth was compleated in any way.

The how do you explain that sentence, "They hurt her until she was part of the way they hurt others."? And Ajani didn't say that Theros "scared" her. He said it was unkind to her because she was "different". It is vague but hinting at things we previously didn't know.

She was the person who called the shots as to who was compleated next.

Also that is quite a stretch. One highly ambiguous line (which likely reffers to her mistreatment during Godsend) doesn't erase all other canon material showcasing her to be a normal human being.

Had it being mentioned before that she was the one calling the shots?

Anyway, I wasn't really implying that Elspeth was half-phyrexianised or even a carrier of the oil, but rather that Ajani's story makes sure to emphasise a measure of corruption/loss of humanity at every step in her path, starting with the very beginning. It seemed as a very intentioned way of tracing a downwards path to hint at the end of that path.
It's literally in the web comics and a previous Elspeth story that she, as a child, chose who was next to be experimented on and completed by the Phyrexians.

Half of your OP is trying to say she was either partially compleated or suffering from pthisis.

"Half"? It was literally one sentence wondering if the phyrexian /influence/ had let any physical marks. Now I know better, but that doesn't invalidate the whole argument.
