Ever since I took out Mass Hysteria, people have been having to remind me of that(I forget EVERY permanent has summoning sickness). I took out Mass Hysteria because I thought some sort of creature control was needed. I went with Lightning Bolt and haven't been let down yet.
This thread was started by Pulp_Fiction, not me. I posted My deck I've been testing in here because I feel we have similar ideas.
As far as blood moon goes, I've been thinking about using that, Magus of The Moon, or a mix of both.
Even though you can't swing with the mountain on first turn if you play a Koth, you can use it to pop off a creature you don't like when your opponents attack phase rolls around, or you could drop a legion loyalist and swing for 1.
I've actually been trying to figure out what to GO with or be an alt drop for a first turn Koth.
Any yes Tim, you're missing something here. Koth's -2 is Perfect for a second turn 4 CMC drop after you first turned him and swung for 4.
"Why," you might ask? Well, that's simple: you're dropping a Hellrider or a Hero of Oxid Ridge and swinging for 4 again. If it doesn't get destroyed/removed, then 3rd turn you're swinging for 9(be it a hero or hellrider you played second turn). Now, they've got to worry about creatures, and not Koth.
This is what I've been play testing and tweaking for about 4 months now. I've ran it against a Few competitive modern decks, and it takes the cake a good portion of the time as long as they don't have a spell pierce or spell snare on your first turn.
