Nice, Corvo Attano is now a planeswalker.
I was waiting for someone to say that because it's so on the nose in the art lol

The first chapter of his story was already a much better read than the vast majority of Magic lore in recent memory. Now I'm just chomping at the bit for the rest of the story which is supposed to be released today...

If they are going to retain each shard when they return to Alara, they're going to need to go back and refine what each shard is because, honestly, most of them are pretty lame and ill-defined as three color societies/lands. Naya, Grixis, and Bant could all easily be changed to mono-green, black and white and hardly anything there would feel out of place. Compared to the Ravnivan Guilds, of which each feels like a synthesis of each of their colors, most of the Shards feel like mono-color sundaes with the other two colors as sprinkles on top and I don't think that's a satisfactory place to be for the worlds that are the flagship names of these tri-color combinations.

Not feeling that art on gravetroll. Looks like somebody reanimated Quasimodo and put him on a hearthstone card.

If this is true then WOTC sure is wearing out the types "God" and "ELder" with one of the two being in basically every other set.

Reading through this whole thread I've yet to see a justification for the price increase of this set and its packs. A one-per-box promo ain't it, chief.

Seems pretty obvious that WOTC knew through every last masters set which cards players want most in these products and now that they've decided to put most/all of them into their last set they want to milk it.

"But WOTC is a business they need to make money". WOTC made money off every past Masters set that was released at the same old Masters set price of $10/pack. They didn't have to increase the price of packs for any reason visible within what we know about the set so far because, as was stated earlier, printing [card}Liliana of the Veil[/card], Snapcaster Mage, and Dark Confidant in these sets costs as much in ink and paper as Grizzly Bears, Ironclaw Orcs, and Dingus Egg.

Pricing these at almost three times the cost of a regular pack is surely a measure to bring down the prices of needed cards on the secondary market and not a ploy to make as much money as possible instead of caring for the health of the game, right gents? ...Gents?

    Magnetic Mage UG
    Creature - Human Wizard
All creatures able to block Magnetic Mage do so.
Whenever a player casts a spell, if that spell does not target Magnetic Mage, change that spell's target to Magnetic Mage.
As it turned out, the world did revolve around him.

This is fantastic. I was just thinking recently about how much of a crime it is that Magic doesn't have any currently running comics to flesh out its planes and characters.

I will admit that I honestly don't understand why some people so badly want sexy tcg art. Maybe this is because I'm also the kind of person who doesn't care for fanservice in anything else. Because, to me, if a piece of media isn't meant to be themed towards sexuality or if sexual themes aren't important to a character or plot point it really doesn't serve any purpose other than what feels like a cheap attempt to reel in attention. Like a Hardee's/Carl's Jr ad. This is a burger commercial, I want the burger, not the titties. Or rather, this is a fantasy tcg, I want the swords and sorcery, not the titties.

This isn't to say that sexuality has no place at all in a game like this. But what is important is that it is used in contexts where it fits. Liliana, Gwendolyn Di Corci, various vampire cards, Enthralling Victor, etc have this kind of context.

Except casting a creature would use magic too.
I think it's pretty well established within Magic that "summoning" spells are very different from "arcane" magic like conjuring lightning or enchanting things.

This fits the classic wizard archetype quite well as they are thought of far more as being spellslingers and enchanters than summoners.

Not relaly arguing for or against prowess being evergreen, just vouching for the high fantasy flavor of prowess.

Aw man... Kind of disappointed in Golgari's guild stuff this time.

Maybe better luck for Gruul next set.

This is like a milling version of Guttersnipe without the body.

Based on the art the gutter part was taken literally.
