Mini rex is very annoying to deal with. This set has a decent number of dinosaur cards which could help any Caverns of Ixalan dinosaur tribal cards in standard.
First ability seems good enough that I dunno why you would flip it.
Well beyond the overall potential value, that 3 damage sweep effect is handy in a pinch. Hell, sometimes you could flip just to bolt your opponent to zero.
Seems pretty good. You don't even need to target two creatures. You can just lock down one big threat if that's all they have and you still get a good return.
She looks very vampire like for a human I must say, more so than previous artworks. Makes me wonder whether the artist didn't quite get the memo and they just rolled with it.
I feel like 'they are getting rid of the reserved list' rumours are pretty much always circulating somewhere. What evidence is there actually to suggest this time there is any merit to it?
I really like how the incubate mechanic has been designed and how it looks like it will play. Lots of cool decision-making and synergy options to look at to try to get the best value out of it.
I hope if (most likely, when, I imagine) the phyrexians return one day, they use this mechanic again, or create some new variant for a different world perhaps.
Esika in the flavor text is talking about how the World Tree saved her life after Vorinclex jumped her in the end of the Kaldheim story.
I am aware, but it sounds like an eulogy for the World Tree, which is what I would expect for Aftermath, similar to the funeral for the Kenriths.
Only so much space in Aftermath though, and you do want some of the immediate consequences in the first set giving some idea where things are at as the MOM story ends before Aftermath begins
That gives -3/-3 not merely -2/-2 like Infest against green and white creatures. It's additional.
Interesting how this not only hurts green and white creatures more to punish opponents but in doing so it means your nongreen and nonwhite creatures will only ever get -1/-1 so you can more easily play this with creatures out and get an asymmetric clear against gw decks.
I like the art. It is striking and unnusual, but it's interesting and fun and feels fitting for this.
Seems like a fun card to build around also. Using the new blue vigilance for a blue/green overlap is cool to see also.
If only there was a bonus set that could help give some cards to characters and events that there wasn't space for in this set.
Granted, we'll have to see what makes it to Aftermath. There will almost certainly be things that aren't in either set.
Yes Awakened Skyclave is a land as soon as it enters the battlefield after being cast.

Fun how you tied it into the Convoke theme to make use of those wee little krakens.
