    @Manite.
    Inertia exists within design. There has to be a particularly good reason to introduce a new evergreen mechanic because it breaks the norm and introduces complexity. Overpower fills the same role as Trample, it's green, it's an evasion mechanic of sorts, it cares about high power; it would appear on exactly the same cards. It functions differently, but not enough that it adds anything meaningful, there is simply no need for it.

    UPDATE

    Added more theme commons and some hybrid commons
    Changed name "Karakos, Wings of Chaos" to "Karakos, the Darkflame"

    Updating spoiler tag formatting soon. EDIT: updated
    (random fact: my as-fan of gold multicolour in the current plan is 3.69. For reference, RTR was 2.82, GTC was 2.94, and KTK was 1.71. So, a lot.)

    Feedback in relation to previous question (see directly above) is still wanted.

    Will this set use the Magic: Origins evergreen keywords? I would assume so seeing as this is supposed to be a modern set.

    I would say yes, I don't see why not. As far as I am personally concerned, the Origins evergreen list is just the official list moving forward, and none of the old keywords really mattered to the core of the design or anything.

    I'd say it absolutely is the official list moving on, as I don't see any definition of "official list" that excludes the changes. I agree that the changes won't matter that much, and I would say that most times people should use them because they were implemented for a reason. But I digress.

    I am interested to see just how different this set ends up being from the original Smile .

    Overpower is actually a pretty good mechanic with the combined count addition. It's reasonably simple, it's flavourful, it's powerful while still being versatile. However it has one huge flaw that means its utterly useless. It's trample. It's primary in green, it's evasion, it plays off of having bigger creature than the opponent, it's fits into red, it represents the flavour of overwhelming force. It's so similar that there is just no reason to use it unless trample is removed in favour of it. Trample needs the keyword more though, as it is a more complicated effect rules-wise, so it would rarely be seen if it didn't have the momentum that an evergreen has in terms of playerbase understanding.

    EDIT: And now that I think about it, it's also a lot like menace. Menace itself is already pretty similar to trample. It's just different enough to justify it and given it also features in a different colour selection it has a reason to exist. Overpower basically sits right in the middle of two existing keywords. As much as this mechanic is a good idea, the resemblance to not just trample but also menace is ridiculously "overpowering" of it's advantages Smile .

    I don't think a single card should let you get in the way of using the best possible name for a mechanic. Gild is a great name because its a double play-on-words - with both guild and gold, both meaning multicolour in the context of MTG. Splendour and diversity don't have any connections on that sort of level.

    Also, I went ahead and found this link here: "We have too many card names and a limited amount of good mechanic names to let one stop the other."

    Good point, but a few things: Just because it isn't necessarily a problem, doesn't mean you should ignore it. Gild is a more specific name than something like Overload with has a lot of different meanings so more confusion. It's not particularly damning, but seeing how flexible names are it's still relevant. In my opinion, the name Gild, while having clever associations, doesn't suit the effect very well. Gild sounds much like a physical thing, it's a specific action, and not a general term like many other names. Gild doesn't make me think of this mechanic at all. I don't think diversity or splendour are generally better, but I think something like that could avoid issues Gild has as a name. It's just a thought.

    Gild is a card, so the name is misleading. I would find another name, something like "diversity" or "splendour".

    UPDATE

    Convert changed from ([cost], Discard this card: Put a 2/2 colourless artifact creature token onto the battlefield. Convert only as a sorcery) to ([cost], Discard this card: Return (another) target artifact card from your graveyard to your hand.) This version fits the colours better and works more satisfyingly.

    Eranor, of the Eternities changed from "Whenever Eranor, of the Eternities deals combat damage to a player, draw a card" to "Whenever Eranor, of the Eternities deals combat damage to a player, put two 1/1 colourless construct artifact creature tokens onto the battlefield". Done to make the card a little more white and better fit the character, who is supposed to create legions of servants.

    Added four colour uncommon cards

    Question: To any commander players out there, even newer players to that format, what do you think of the four-colour legends? Seeing as they would be the first four-colour commanders, it's desirable to have them be suited for the format, both in style and relative power-level.

    @Gutterstorm.
    I didn't suggest it because I thought the card is overpowered, I suggested it because it may be pushing it and I think it's better to keep it at a more reasonable level by dropping the extra text. Besides, a card based on opponent's creatures would be a very poor design for a constructed card considering how much the creature level, power and defence varies among opponents. Not fun for a card to become more or less powerful depending on something you can't control, it's the reason intimidate and landwalk are going out.

    The instant./sorcery change is inelegant. I would remove the changing clause and just give the fuseback a separate modular cost like with Flashback itself.

    BG, should probably also have reanimate since that's still around. RG - probably should have uncountrable (Wish that was evergreened to be honest). There really needs to be a further distinction between UW and UB in terms of evergreen. . . but I guess there's already threads discussing what is a good UB evergreen.

    In terms of single color evergreen . . . for example if theres ever a cycle . . . I am pretty sure flying is out. . . so what would it be?

    Single colour?

    Design 1 with "creature you control dies" would be good. Limiting it makes it less variable on opponents and safer developmentally.

    Yeah I was shooting for a mythic-y feeling Savor the Moment, the can't be countered helped it feel more red mana for me, but would be ok with dropping it if it could justify the aggressive cost.

    I don't think that's the best solution, it still might be overpowered and would be less red. Adding colourless preserves the identity and is safer developmentally.

    That image, that name... I see what you did there Wink .

    Nice design, clean but exciting. Might be overpowered, but not drastically so, and it doesn't seem easy to evaluate. Maybe add 1 mana ?

    Well, W/B mana and U/B mana kinda have flying as well, depending on where you draw the line.
