Worth nothing re Helix Pinnacle that it adds to devotion (and has shroud, so is reasonably safe to play early). That makes it interesting for a Nykthos based deck. Granted the card is still slower than a lot of options.
There are a lot of cards that have a good chance of seeing play, but I think Natural State is the only one I'd call a likely "staple". That card will be in sideboards for the rest of eternity. (It competes with Nature's Claim but it wins at least some of the time.)
Pulse of Murasa is a pretty good anti-Burn card. It's great with Snapcaster since you get to do tricks similar to Kolaghan's Command but with more lifegain. Bringing back a Steve or a fetch is fine too, but you definitely need to actually care about the lifegain to play the card.
My guess is it doesn't replace Baloth since Baloth is also so good against Liliana, but it is an interesting card.
Devour in Flames is interesting. Three mana is probably too much when you could just play Roast, but this does offer meaningful upside for the downside. Later in the game the land-bouncing part becomes an upside: if you don't have a land to play it basically costs two mana.
Natural State is definitely a great sideboard card that will replace Nature's Claim in many cases. It was always awkward to play Claim in Scapeshif, for instance, because your opponent gaining 4 life might set your win back a turn. But you really wanted to be able to kill Blood Moon for one mana. This card does that and still hits other relevant things like Amulet of Vigor and all of Affinity's creatures.
Pulse of Murasa can gain a lot of life in combination with Snapcaster. I don't know if I actually expect it to see play, but stranger things have happened in the world of anti-Burn sideboards...
Why are people still doing this? I told you guys years ago that "X exists and is unplayable so neither is this" is fallacious and doesn't actually mean anything. It's basically a *****post.
It's cool how you actually read my post and noticed the fact that I was responding specifically to the suggestion that 2UU for an uncounterable counterspell is comparable in power level to Counterflux.
Incidentally, I'm curious as to your method of judging cards that doesn't involve comparing them to other cards.
Yeah, I initially thought it was bolt-proof, but in fact that's only true if you just leave it as a 1/4. Probably in the first few weeks you'll be able to get people, but eventually everyone will learn the correct timing to bolt it. The card is nonetheless good, though. I'm still not 100% convinced Twin actually wants a manland, but the power level is high enough that I'll give it a try.
At one mana to cast with an instant-speed activation it's not unimaginable that the card sees play, but it seems like a longshot. One-of in Blue Tron for value? Probably not...
World Breaker is Woodfall Primus's younger brother. The one green in its mana cost reduces the possibility of turn 3 Tron shenanigans. It's not the best ramp target though - that would be Primeval Titan, or Wurmcoil/Karn for Tron.
It could be a one-of in Tron just because you can Eye of Ugin for it. Granted, I'm not really sure under what circumstances you want to Eye for a glorified Indrik Stomphowler instead of Wurmcoil (assuming you don't have the mana for Ulamog). The fact that it hits lands could be useful in the Tron mirror?
Kozilek's Return is interesting. RG Tron can actually make use of the "flashback" aspect, though it's rather winmore if you're casting Ulamog or Emrakul anyway. Ignoring that text, in any deck it's an instant-speed Pyroclasm effect that's easier on the mana and life total than Volcanic Fallout and can hit pro-red creatures.
Few of the other Invitational card nicknames caught on the way "Bob" did. I remember people calling Meddling Mage "Chris" or "Pikula" when that card was still relevant in Legacy/Vintage but it wasn't super common; if anything I heard "MM" more often.
Mostly I attribute the popularity of the name "Bob" to the fact that it's fun to say "Bob".
I think BTL is worth it but it really doesn't make a huge difference in how the deck functions.
My guess is it doesn't replace Baloth since Baloth is also so good against Liliana, but it is an interesting card.
