I'm sick of Voice already, and the set is only 1/3 spoiled. What an intensely unfun, uninteractive card.
The fact that it's mythic, too... is just absolute bull****. The ability is mythic, sure. Put it on some pile of garbage seven mana creature. NOT A BEAR.
Vexing Devil is fine and all, but that would be something you play on the same turn, or after him. I'm talking about a creature that's bonkers on its own, AND makes him easy to play, AND makes him easy to bluff (four mana and creatures means your opponent has to watch his removal just in case he gets Rakdos'd), AND enables his paincast ability
Blood Artist
Gravecrawler
various other zombies and solid men, especially Geralf's Messenger and maybe Nighthawk
burn
Rakdos
Seems good. I'm pretty serious about trying Bloodthrone Vampire here, too. Gravecrawler and Blood Artist with him might be too cute on it's own, but it sure as **** enables Rakdos. Rix Maadi Guildmage could even have a home here. He gives a bit of reach for when you eventually run out of gas and enables the bejesus out of paincast. Even the very questionable Cryptborn Horror is better with Rakdos in your deck.
Let me get this straight. I play Geralf's Messenger on turn three. I attack with him on turn four. If they don't block, I get Rakdos. If they do block, I probably get Rakdos. They're afraid to let through some 1/1 ****ter I might have because I can then just play Rakdos. If I have a Blood Artist in play, I can just attack wildly into them with anything I have, and get Rakdos.
Jesus.
Sorta makes me want to play Rakdos aggro a bit in the style of the Ravnica standard era deck. Burn and super aggressive men, this guy at the top of the curve. Maybe some trickiness like Bloodthrone Vampire or something.
Dude. You can play Messenger, then sac it to Disciple of Bolas for only 1B.
He blocks everything at 4cmc and lower, so basically you have to trigger his ability if you want to swing in as he'll just block the best creature.
Even if he's a geth's verdict every turn, that's still pretty good, even against tokens and zombies. It's still 2-3 damage prevented each turn while you get your control up and going.
Yeah. It isn't a BAD card by any stretch. It may just not have a home.
They just spoiled an Unsummon that is strictly superior to the original. Same rarity, same card type, same mana cost. The only difference is one line of text.
We have a 2 mana 7/8 who's only drawback is Threshold.
We have two 4-mana Sorceries that are seeing play in Legacy (Jace and Tezzeret 2.0). One of those cards is the first Standard-legal card to have a price tag of $100 for a period of 3 months. Foils of that card are going for $150 or more.
We have a mono-colored, Instant speed Vindicate/Pongify fusion. The color it is in makes the 3/3 it produces little more than a chump blocker.
We have permanents with activated abilities that do not take up resources beyond the initial casting (Planeswalkers).
Power creep exists. It fluctuates, and it likes to disappear for a while, but it exists. The developers just want people to ignore it because it fluctuates so rapidly.
Are you saying that all cards need to be worse than all older cards? There are always going to be cards that do something better than similar cards in the past, but just don't complain until we have another Saga.

This is a beautiful magic card.

Mad.
Are you kidding? Necropotence?

Speak for yourself. HOHOHO
These things are awesome.

YES.
