    I'll play.

    Eshenne
    Playing since 8th edition.
Modern (tier 1), casual EDH, casual.
    Spend varies from 10 - 100 $ monthly
Not too worried about the impact of BFZ on anything but find the set really boring. For the first time I don't even want to draft packs for the cards. I bought Crumble to Dust and that's the only card from the set I want.
Don't care about Expeditions as they don't affect the price of the fetches I need.
Bought a Fat Pack just for the full art lands.

So you are looking for a Standard with creatures that survive removal, or cost less than removal, have no ETB value or help you gain tempo? Don't you realise that threats eventually overwhelm answers?
No wonder you are so happy with BFZ.
Modern is full of efficient removal, value filled creatures and powerful counters and yet is still interactive and fun despite the power level.

  • posted a message on Rudest/worst MTG opponent you've ever played?
I met my rudest opponent in the modern tournament practise room on MTGO today.
I play a Splinter Twin variant and lost game one to his burn deck very quickly. Game two I combo on turn four after which he types: LOL, your mechanics are rubbish!
I thank him for his insight and win game three after which he became really upset: You are garbage, your cards are garbage, your deck is garbage!

I know not everyone likes losing to combo but his burn deck killed me turn four in game one, hardly "fair", and it is, after all, the tournament practice room. If you get angry losing to Twin, Bloom, Ad Nauseum, Griselbrand and rage quit during practise games how on earth are you going to compete in a tournament?

Still busy with my first league but I am loving the experience so far.
Great way to play modern online.

    @ SephX

I ask you the same question this thread has been tackling all day. Why should I care about tournaments? You critique others for saying "I think the set is fine" yet all you have done is say "I think this set sucks". Why should I listen to you when I don't care about any of the aspects of magic that you seem to value exclusively?

Because if you don't care about tournaments there are way more fun cards from magic's history to play with than these (subjective but probably true for most people). If you aren't playing a tournament format than why restrict yourself to rubbish?

For example, I started playing with Core 8 and was told at the time it was weak compared to expansions, basically for beginners. But cards from that basic, beginners, core set than I regularly use to play casual, EDH and Modern with are: Wrath of god, archivist, birds of paradise, blood moon, boil, bribery, choke, city of brass, coastal piracy, coat of arms, daring apprentice, defense grid, ensnaring bridge, evacuation, howling mine, intruder alarm, mana leak, merchant scroll, obliterate, phyrexian arena, plague wind, planar portal, pyroclasm, temporal adept, urza's mine, urza's tower, urza's power plant.

The only cards from BFZ that I will buy are crumble to dust, the new art dispel and the new lands.
I played the sealed pre release and it was the worst sealed match I have ever experienced.
Subjective but, looking at the responses online, true for many.

  • posted a message on Does anyone else feel as I do about Modern Masters?
I am curious as to how you feel about set redemption.
I collect complete sets through redemption which I assemble by drafting online.
I crack virtual packs while drafting but end up with real cards.
Would this satisfy you from a collectors point of view.

When I try to log in the client reports that a newer version is required and that I must relaunch the client to download the latest version.
Restarting the client does not download a newer version and I get the same message. I even uninstalled the software and downloaded the client again. Same problem. This happens on both of my computers running windows 7.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • posted a message on Best ways to upgrade Teferi 2014 pre constructed deck?
Build a combo deck with Tezzeret the Seeker, the Chain Veil and other goodies like Rings of Brighthearth and Mind over Matter.
Teferi can be insane ramp and combos well with other planes walkers.

  • posted a message on What to do with M14 Commander's Peer Through Time deck?
Take out all the fatties, put in Tezzeret the Seeker, Rings of Brighthearth, The Chain Veil and a whole lot of counter magic and go wizard tribal with a few nice combo win cons.
Untapping rocks and tutoring with Tezzeret and Teferi and The Chain Veil can be very strong and fun.

    Unboxed mine,

Lilana comes with bat tokens which I believe are new.

Elves vs goblins and divine vs demonic come with 3x as many tokens that the original printing.

The boxes that hold the cards are nice but are super crap at keeping closed. The dice are fancy yet hard to friend and come with the boring planeswalker symbol as oppose to the symbols for the decks.

No new artwork for any cards that I looked at.

Mine also came today Epic, can't bring myself to open it yet though.
    Not sure why!
    '

The trouble with the product is because the card value is extremely low, your only option are to keep it sealed and hope it becomes extremely wanted in like 20 years or get 7 friends together and try organize a game day where people play duel decks against each other.

Not planning to ever sell so... Opened and sleeved them. Now for a match with my kids!

Just picked up one of these in South Africa for 1350 ZAR which is about $122 from my LGS.
Seems to be a good price after reading this thread.
Weird because, like Australia, we usually end up paying much more for things.

Cant imagine where you got it from (that was a x mas deal normal asking price was R1500) Wink anyway considering the Rand is like R11 for $1 the pricing is quite good. I think this comes down to a lack of interest in South Africa , as almost no one is wanting to spend that much money on such a niche appeal item hence why the item already got a x mas discount.

Hey Epic, I bought it from Outer Limits PTA. They will only ship on the 5th but they had a few available on their website for pre order.
I'm looking for some other duel decks so if you know where I can get let me know.

  • posted a message on Have you guys tried out the new decks? :D What's your oppinions?
Spent all morning playing the blue deck on MTGO and with a few mods to focus the deck it's really very playable.
It needs a few more PW, I am using Tezzeret the Seeker and Karn Liberated.
It runs two combos with, The Chain Veil and Rings of Brighthearth and draws and ramps very quickly with a bit of a wizard tribal theme, Azami, Lady of Scrolls, Venser, Shaper Savant and friends.
I added Mana Crypt and Mana Vault, took out the morph cards, except for Will Bender.
Teferi's -1 ability is really, really strong, it play great with cards like Temporal Adept.
I am still refining and brewing but so far it's very good.

With a bit of attention I think the Blue deck can be a lot of fun.
Take out the morph cards and Teferi is going to play nicely with Tezzeret the Seeker, Rings of Brighthearth and The Chain Veil.
Add in a few wizards for flavor, Temporal Adept and Azami, Lady of Scrolls come to mind.
Beef up the permission and perhaps even Diviner's Wand for a fun win con.
I am going to build this without relying purely on infinite combo or lock and still have a deck that can win and be fun to play even when losing.

Cant wait until tomorrow so I can start testing on MTGO!
