Has anyone tried a self discard/reanimation style?
I had a chainer deck and a urabrask deck and basically gutted them to make kaalia... I liked the mono red but couldn't stand that all red draw is reliant on discard and when you don't interact with your graveyard it just feels so inefficient... Bada boom bada bing black comes to the rescue.
Do you guys actually have luck picking up the bigger cards?
I acquired enough points to grab a FoW but there are like 15 other people on the list for them and after sitting there for like a week I said screw it and winded up crafting a bad ass kaalia of the vast commander deck from the points - Was this too impatient?
It just felt like it could take months for the list to trickle down till I could get a FoW
Recently binged watched LSV playing all kinds vintage decks on youtube and I gotta say I fell in love with gush and all the dirty shenanigans one can do with it
But when I looked at some recent decks - it seems plenty of decks still run gush but fastbond is missing in all of them except Doomsday.
What gives?
On a side note - everyone says vintage is this powerhouse and blah blah full of silly stuff blah blah but honestly it's the most enjoyable game to watch IMO
Coming from a legacy standpoint, it's like you fed legacy nothing but steroids and gunpowder and then let it loose in a gym
Randomly came across my friend's Kaalia of the Vast - Oh my lord! I never knew this girl even existed before said inspection and so I traded and arm and a kidney to get her.
So I came looking for rakdos generals but inside got sidelined by a cleric.
For all intensive purposes she gives me exactly what I was looking for - Discard/Reanimation shell with the added gravy that I get to play my Rune-Scarred Demon and Balefire Dragon for free!
So I have a chainer deck and a Urabrask deck and kinda wanna combine the two and see how it plays out - Card Draw/reanimate/sac/tutor/LD/discard/Fat Dragons
I don't really care to focus on the general (I've tried voltron and tribal and idk it gets kinda stale to me) and honestly just looking to fill the deck with all around bueno cards but... Where to start?
What would be a decent general to use in the rakdos department - I failed to find a list in the primer section for Rakdos
On a side note - is the lack of rakdos primers due to lack of people playing it or just perceived view that the color combo is weak?
Honestly this what I found from playing around with misdirection in reanimator. For all intent and purposes of defending my combo - it is force of will. So lesson learned the reputation of FoW is not as strong as I gave it credit for.
But - outside of defending my combo FoW is 100 times stronger than I thought it was. Stopping counterbalance, GY hate, etc when your tapped out is incredible.
Meta Read?
The two decklists also included Sphinx of the Steel Wind & Empyrial Archangel which I'm assuming was for burn
Lol. Whoops I guess that link was to a SCG DC legacy event from 2012

So I run alot of self discard like wild guess and faithless looting coupled with alot of reanimation - necromancy, karmic guide and a ton of cantrips/tutors
1.) Pick a commander who is green
2.)
3.) Profit

If my friend's oloro deck wasn't already annoying enough.
but my friend
Show and tell is dumb.

- Cabal Therapy
- Gitaxian Probe
- Wasteland
- Ol' divinity Top
- Brainstorm
- Griselbrand
- Abrupt Decay
- Pyroblast (^.^) Pesky water mages
- Swords to Plowshares
Honorable mention to FoW and the 2 drop creatures ~ stoneforge, etc
Thanks fellas!
Currently I got a U/B reanimator missing FoW and Duals and I was wondering which would give me the most bang for my buck...
Picking up like 2 Show and Tell's or one FoW.
I currently use 4 misdirection in the deck and for the most part (I mentioned in these threads) they are FoW when protecting my combo.
Always a fan of off-aggro decks in legacy.
I love me some cabal therapy/gitaxian probe and with ur creature list I imagine neutering their hands is all to easy.
But I would say, have you looked into monastery swiftspear and how has the list been with just 8 burn spells? Any room for lava spike , rift bolt?
So good man! I love it!
