meh. bad explanation. i have a character who can create planes with a snap of his fingers, change form with the blink of his eyes and have access to the most powerful spells of his color. and his card only mill 7? underwhelming.
i's like saying: "look! this is the best green creature ever, the king of all the beasts, but since it is so powerful it will give you only a small fraction of its power and it's a vanilla 4/4. bad

You must never have read any ancient Greek or Roman poetry.

I'll probably projectile vomit if I ever have to play against that Niv Mizzet in a draft. Really disappointing flavor text, though, especially considering the original Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind.

I don't understand how players keep getting caught cheating on CAMERA. The idiocy level has to be so unrealistically high for someone to cheat when there is a machine recording your every single move that I'm absolutely shocked that more than one person would be stupid enough to do it, let alone the virtual flood of people we've had in the last year.

The best advice I can give is that you will make mistakes. At some point in playing competitively, you're going to get a game loss for something stupid--decklist, accidentally drawing a card, not sideboarding, etc. It happens to everyone, and successful players just deal with it and move on cheerfully with their lives. Unsuccessful players get really worked up and upset, or argue with the judge, or blame their opponent.

TEAM LIMITED??!??! Oh dear God yes. Although "rules still in development" for team draft is slightly concerning, it's still the greatest format ever.

My FNM is at Coolstuffgames in Orlando, FL. They have a huge online store, so they kinda have money to burn on their in-store events. FNM usually gets about 40 people for constructed and 15 for draft (they get to run two FNMs, one draft one constructed, because they're a big store.) Draft payouts are based on the number of players, but STD is guaranteed 2 boxes to the top 8 plus a draft set to the 9-16th players if the tourny is over 50 people, which happens fairly often. You also get free pizza and one soda for your $6 entry. They also do 12 dollar drafts on Tuesdays with 8 packs to first and 4 to second.

I think 6 bucks for guaranteed 2 boxes plus dinner is maybe the best deal in this thread.

While this is a nice gesture, I think the money would be better spent if they ramped up their 5k payouts instead.

They did. A long time ago. Their "5k"s give out nearly 7k in prizes now, which is why they aren't called 5ks.

I have no right? This is a thread discussing the suspension of a prominent SCG player. If I gather correctly the DCI just suspended 50 SCG players. These are my absolutely honest perspectives. If you disagree say so. Otherwise get off your high horse, grow up and accept that on the internets people are allowed to state their opinion regardless of your preferences.

50 SCG players? Hahahahhaha no.... 50 players worldwide, for various reasons. And if you'd paid attention or talked to people familiar with the situation, you'd know that SCG hounded WOTC for months to do something about the players SCG itself had reported as being cheaters. SCG couldn't do anything until the DCI completed its slow investigation. You need to back up your accusations with some facts and evidence.

(1-1/8)^36 = 0.82%. How the hell did you get that number?

Thank you. I thought for a minute no one was going to challenge his absurd number, and I didn't feel like dredging up the right statistics formula from when I took that class two years ago. So if you're right, you'd see a box without mythics every 122 boxes, which is kinda a LOT in the grand scheme of things. That guy's 44000000000000 or whatever was probably a random reflex

I can't get onto www.wizards.com or any of the MTG sites like dailymtg.com. I'm also unable to get onto MTGO because it says it "can't connect to the remote server." My internet is fine and all other sites are working fine--is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
