I took your criticisms to heart and now have this:
New Format - Hobbit Magic - (name based on LOTR, and the fact hobbits are small creatures)
Format details:
30 cards, 10 life to start.
2 basic lands of a type of your choice, start with both of them in play, and they act like the Commander does in EDH, as far as what colors you're allowed to use.
Maximum 1CMC for each card, and one copy of each card. No 0-cost cards.
Activated abilities must have a CMC of 1.
All creatures are treated as if they had Haste.
"X" cost cards can be played but you may only spend 1 mana on them.
I HAD to do this ever since I saw what Ajani looked like.

What about a BRAND NEW color? This one is "Astral", inspired by the D&D mythos that all magic gets it's power from the Astral Plane. The little icon is a star on a purple background, because the Astral is depicted as a plane of pure starlight, I think - and I associate purple with the color of magic. lol. And any cards that use this will be pure magic (Instants/Sorceries/Enchantments), and magnify spells.
