I feel it's less an issue of this and more an issue of these days certain cards are made very easily better than others and you can't just slot something in instead and it work as well or even close to as well. I feel like the line between allstar cards and "good" cards has gotten much wider over the years. Not every card has to be amazing but there needs to be a certain amount at close to the same playable power level (In different rarities) to be able to effectively have the option to innovate decks when someone doesn't have all of the cards. Otherwise they will lose over and over and decide to go with the few cards that clearly work.
Sorry, I forgot to mention there is also a Ponza (Land Destruct along with Blood Moon) guy running around. Would that change it much?
Thanks!

Is it too many basics or too few and what split should I be running with my associated costs?
Yeah, I was kinda leaning that way. I think that I will run a Murderous Cut in the main in place of one fatal push as long as that deck is in the meta. I would like to try lili, but I don't own any and they are not currently in the budget. I did however pick up a runed halo afterwards, with my winnings, and am excited to try that in the side. With those plus the 2 blessed alliances in the side, I think I should have decent options against both it and the Blood Baron if it happens to show its face.
This is what mine looks like:
3x Avatar of the Resolute
3x Birds of Paradise
4x Boggart Ram-Gang
1x Eternal Witness
4x Groundbreaker
3x Leatherback Baloth
4x Noble Hierarch
1x Reverent Hunter
1x Scavenging Ooze
4x Strangleroot Geist
4x Aspect of Hydra
3x Blossoming Defense
4x Collected Company
1x Vines of Vastwood
Land (20)
20x Forest
1x Act of Aggression
1x Back to Nature
1x Creeping Corrosion
3x Dismember
2x Kitchen Finks
2x Natural State
1x Reclamation Sage
1x Scavenging Ooze
2x Spellskite
1x Unravel the Aether
I have had some pretty decent success with it over a few fnms, although fatal push makes it a bit harder these days.
The zero rancor was due mainly to lots of targeted removal in my meta and too many 2-for-1s. Completely a meta call.
Unfortunately, I did not get a Bitterblossom against him or else I expect I would have gotten close to the same reaction.
I know, right? I mean, if they are stepping into competitive Modern without any idea, it's going to be rough and I will beat them and take that win (while being courteous and friendly, as I am definitely not trying to drive them away), but it is far from as satisfying and I do always feel a bit bad for them. And as far as bragging people, oh yeah, there are definitely some players that are far more satisfying to beat.
Finally got to play my updated version of this deck at an FNM 2 weekends ago. This is the list I ran:

1x Fetid Heath
1x Ghost Quarter
2x Godless Shrine
4x Marsh Flats
3x Plains
2x Shambling Vent
2x Swamp

3x Windswept Heath
Planeswalker (4)
2x Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
2x Sorin, Solemn Visitor
1x Collective Brutality
3x Inquisition of Kozilek
4x Lingering Souls
4x Spectral Procession
3x Thoughtseize

2x Raise the Alarm
1x Zealous Persecution
Enchantment (7)
3x Bitterblossom
4x Intangible Virtue
2x Blessed Alliance
1x Duress
1x Flaying Tendrils
1x Fragmentize
2x Pithing Needle
2x Rest in Peace
2x Selfless Spirit
1x Stony Silence
1x Sundering Growth
1x Timely Reinforcements
1x Zealous Persecution
We had 10 people sign up for a 4 round night.
Round 1 I played Affinity. Game 1 I discarded his Cranial Plating for him just to draw another one but I had too much removal and efficient blockers and eventually built the board pressure up to win the game. Game 2 I started a little slow but had enough removal to stay in then had a strong mid game but had to make some poor blocks to stay safe and then ran out of gas in the late game after getting my Sorin, Solemn Visitor countered and lost. Game 3 I controlled fairly well throughout and had too much removal and inevitability.
Games: 2-1, Matches: 1-0
Round 2 I played Burn and both games he had turn 1 Goblin Guide, but I had my own turn 1 [Fatal Push/] (the reason I came back to this deck) to use on his next attack phase. He wasn't quite fast enough as both games he ran me low but didn't have gas fast enough as my incremental life gain put me out of reach as my tokens poked him down. The best part of this match was when he dropped a second Eidolon of the Great Revel and I only had a Spectral Procession and Sorin, Solemn Visitor in hand.
Games: 2-0, Matches: 2-0
Round 3 I played a guy running B/W/R control with lots of targeted removal and things like Lingering Souls, Dark Confidant, and Abbot of Keral Keep, and Liliana of the Veil. He had too much single creature removal and I had enough to keep his threats off the board and out-valued him both games, dodging his sided in board wipes in game 2. Best part of this match was when he played Inquisition of Kozilek on my 3 card hand that was 1 Spectral Procession and 2 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar.
Games: 2-0, Matches 3-0
Last round I got the only other undefeated player who was running American (W/U/R) control. He had no main deck creatures other than Snapcaster Mages and generally finished off opponents with Celestial Colonnades. He mulliganed to 5 or 4 first game and both games I was able to hand control most of his board wipes and dance around his counters and removal, keeping on solid pressure and out-valuing him too quickly for him to keep up. I felt in control this whole match and at one point I played a Lingering Souls and he said "How am I even supposed to beat that card?", with a complete look of despair on his face (this guy can be a bit annoying, so it was a little sweeter than it usually would be). The best part of these matches was when he had to use 2 Lightning Bolts from hand to kill my Gideon after already having made a token.
Games:2-0, Matches: 4-0
It was fun and exciting to play this deck after a long time and even better to see it do well. The Fatal Pushs definitely are a big part of the ability for success with this deck. It was nice as well that all of the opponents I played were solid veteran players, as I sometimes come up against new players with sub-par decks and the wins don't feel quite as earned. Excited to play it again.
What did you think of running the Street Wraiths? A positive change, or not, or hard to tell?
