Quote from TrappedUnderIce »I do not support a justice system that obstinately refuses to hold itself accountable to the law that it is meant to uphold. Like everyone else, police are innocent until proven guilty; sadly, this platitude never gets put to use because they never face trial for the assault they commiton black bodies.
The problem isn't limited only to 'black bodies'. It's a problem with accountability in general.

That is the way it is.... You are not legally obligated to provide a tip. You are socially obligated to provide a tip (unless you can justify not giving one with reasons like the service being terrible).

If you want people in the future to be less likely to make this decision, don't say this woman did something deplorable by leaving her children motherless. Convince people that abortion is not murder. Until that point is universally accepted there will be people that will easily weigh that decision as murder versus death. I can't fault someone for choosing against what they believe to be murder.

I don't think he is proposing anything at all... he's just pointing out that there could be negative side effects of legalizing gay marriage and that supporters of gay marriage should realize that it may not be the 100% simple answer we want to believe it is. Not saying that those possible negatives outweigh the positives but just that they could exist.

I see 2 types of college athletes those that want a degree and to participate in sports and those that are just there for the sports. We try to force those from group two to be like those from group one and it's silly.
Keep college sports in college so those that do want traditional degrees to go with their sports can do that, but lets stop pretending that all college athletes are in college for a degree. Many of them are there because that's where they have to go to have a chance at the pros.

Putting kids into social situations can open the door for bullying. Bullying isn't going to suddenly manifest while playing dodgeball. Bullying in dodgeball is going to simply be an extension of the bullying that is already happening. If a kid is bullied on the dodgeball court chances are that kid is also being bullied in other situations.

The big issue I see is if we can agree that a swat that doesn't leave a mark is fine, but what AP did is not fine... is it even possible to draw a line somewhere in between?

This is one thing that I really don't understand and really disagree with. Maybe it deserves a separate thread but I have a feeling it would die pretty quickly...
A business' main objective is to make money by providing goods and/or services. If a business wants to refuse to make money on a particular clientele why should we force them to? In theory... a business that accepts the widest variety of clientele will be more successful because they will have more potential customers. If a bakery wants to have a stance of not providing cakes for gay weddings they are losing out on customers, and if I was having a gay wedding I wouldn't trust them to make my cake anyway given their views... Would you rather be refused service and find somewhere else to go or get terrible service?
To parallel the race issue. If I was a black man I think I would rather know that Restaurant X does not want me there and then go to Restaurant Y, instead of risking having my burger spit on or worse.
Especially in today's culture, I can't imagine too many business doing very well after advertising that they wont serve "A B or C". It would take owners that are truly convicted in their beliefs to do something like that. So for people who believe that strongly... why try to stop them?

A gun, firearm, whatever... can be used as a weapon (even a flare gun), some of them were even designed as weapons, but that does not matter at all. Just because something was designed to kill people does not invalidate its other uses.

You definitely would not need real guns in class, or at least not functioning guns. Use guns without firing pins or just plain fake guns...
