If you want to play hive mind, I think the Lotus Bloom version is better suited for that combo. The 2nd place list from scg Charlotte or any mtgo 5-0 list from puntthenwhine are good starting points for that version.
@ovogeli30 the amulet discord is the most active forum I've found for the deck, although I've heard there's a facebook group that's pretty active too. Here's the link if you're interested: https://discord.gg/3EsKnD
As for the 2nd Ballista/Pact, I think they're fine inclusions in certain metas. If there's a lot of tron/combo, the 2nd blue pact is one of the best cards you can have.
@maverickzero I use dice on top of the deck for pact triggers and I track floating mana on my life pad. I just verbalize land drops since it's just 0-3 land drops remaining at any time. I've thought about putting some basic lands in the same sleeves I use for my tokens to use as mana trackers, but I'm pretty sure there's rules against having actual cards in your deckbox that aren't part of your deck for comp REL.
I'm working on putting a list together and currently have everything except Ugin and Cyclonic Rift. Are there any replacements for those or are they mandatory to play this deck?
I like the sound of Sigarda in the board. I've always been a fan of that card but it's not easy to find room for. Did you ever wish you had Ruric Thar, the Unbowed? I personally never leave home without it but I suppose if you have leylines and Sigarda it's less necessary for storm. Also curious about the 2nd Vesuva. I've never wished I had another one and it often makes your early turns clunky if you don't have many lands to work with.
Haven't posted here in a while but I plan to cube a lot over the summer. Has anyone added any of the memorial cycle? I've been thinking about trying them out but Blighted Gorge and Blighted Cataract never played that well in the past.
I'd probably replace the 3rd Gruul Turf. If you do that you may want to swap a Forest for a Grove of the Burnwillows so you have enough red sources to cast sideboard stuff. Since you don't have Explosives you're definitely going to want Kozilek's Return/Firespout in the board.
In my experience Jeskai doesn't have any meaningful interaction for your lands and is a lot easier to beat that UW which runs 4 Field of Ruin and 4 Spreading Seas and maybe even a Ghost Quarter or 2. I don't play against it often, but it's the only matchup I find myself consistently struggling with outside of Blood Moon decks.
How are people feeling about Spell Pierce vs. Swan Song? I've tried both and prefer Swan Song but it seems like most people are moving towards Spell Pierce now. Also looking for some sideboard options for control since my local meta has quite of lot of it. I've tried Thrun in the side as well as a second Cavern main but UW control especially is still a struggle.
Hi all, I built this deck about a month ago and have been winning a lot at fnms with it. My list is pretty standard, just testing 1 Wayward Swordtooth instead of the 4th Azusa. I'd also like to get a Carnage Tyrant to board in vs. control but I don't feel like paying $20 for one atm.
Does anyone have a link to the discord? I'm interested in getting in there as well.
Depending on how they play, Rigging Runner and Merfolk Branchwalker might earn permanent spot for me. Monstrosaur and Chart are definitely the standouts though.
Burrenton Forge-Tender's main job is to protect your guys from anger of the gods or maybe a lightning bolt. With 4 Finks in the main you should do alright against burn but if you really want to beat them, you could play Lone Missionary, although I would never leave home without 1 Forge-Tender in the board. For the rest of the board, Eidolon of Rhetoric is a must, and I'm a fan of Sin Collector. Yixlid Jailer is nice against dredge, but I would just play more Oozes since it tends to be effective in a wider range of matchups, and it still does its job even if it gets removed. As for the main deck, I'm not a fan of the 2nd Seer or the basic swamp. You play so few black cards that you basically never want to see it. 2 Tombs and 4 Birds should be enough.
I don't see the point of using solemnity when Vizier/Anafenza are tutorable pieces and company hits. The Geralf's Messenger kill is certainly more reliable than infinite life, but Messenger and Solemnity are such awkward cards by themselves.
Chord/Coco decks usually have trouble remaining tier 1 for long because the players tend to be split between many variants. Right now we have Abzan Company, Knightfall, Kiki-Chord (if anyone still plays that), Todd Anderson's GW Company, and all the fringe non-combo lists like humans and zoo.
As for the 2nd Ballista/Pact, I think they're fine inclusions in certain metas. If there's a lot of tron/combo, the 2nd blue pact is one of the best cards you can have.
