Aramil quickly found the familiar mind of one who presents himself as a child.

Aramil? came the thought from Jeremy's mind.

He hadn't revealed himself yet, but Aramil had a strong grasp on his connection and could maintain the telepathic conversation easily enough.

  • posted a message on [World Project Rules] Rules list and Announcements-ALL PLAYERS MUST READ
This is an announcement to all current and active characters. Currently we are doing a bit of clean up as there is an abundant amount of level 1 and 2 characters in the WPL records. Many of these characters are no longer active. To ensure the accuracy of our records we would like for all active characters to send in their current character sheets. Make sure to include your current satchels, items, and anything relevant about your character. After this update if there are any inconsistencies then we will be referencing our records for the final say.

Make sure you are on top of this update as your character information will become what we have on our records should you fail to send in any information.

For the sake of not losing what you've earned, please be expedient in getting the relevant information to the current WPLs: Murphy, Nai, Caex Kothar, & Cyouni.

how does your experience with a color affect your ability to use it? can i not cast spells of any color till level 3 when i learn from a house?

does being an artificer strictly forbid the use of colored mana? or can i gain the ability to use, say, blue and white?

Missed these in my last response.

Initially players start off with being familiar with only one color. That color grants you access to the relevant Houses. You are only able to use spells within your color as well as the mana of your color. This means you cannot cast multicolor spells until level 3 at the earliest which is when you gain another color should you choose to do so.

Joining a house is free. House training simply provides the listed bonus.

Initially being an artificer prohibits you from manipulating colored mana. However there is artificer training which allows you to 'notice' the difference between the colors of mana. Each time you take artificer training you learn how to manipulate two more colors. However that colored mana may only come from artifact sources (In this way an artificer can utilize colored artifacts as well as activated abilities on artifacts that require colored mana).

EDIT: See the rules thread for an announcement concerning the update of character sheets with the WPLs. Thank You

ah, that would be a problem then xD. /fantasizes about 4x ornithopter 4x walker 4x memnite first turn....

few more more questions (sorry ><):
Is countermagic a thing here? i am unsure. if so, i'd assume you'd conserve your spells for a turn cycle... how does that not end up being sorta broken? surely access to 20 odd counters at a given time is...

also, do cards that cost only phyrexian mana count as 0 costed when you use the phyrexian mana?

do lands count as part of your sachel if basic/ nonbasic/ both? how much do lands "cost" to put in your sachel?
i assume nonbasics have a cap of 4...
regarding visiting nonbasic lands, is this a personally rp-ed out thing, or do they have to be part of an adventure you are taking part in?
is your access to basic lands essentially unlimited?

how does your experience with a color affect your ability to use it? can i not cast spells of any color till level 3 when i learn from a house?

does being an artificer strictly forbid the use of colored mana? or can i gain the ability to use, say, blue and white?

An all counter deck can be annoying in a one on one scenario, but not broken. Just as you have access to any of your spells, so too do your opponents. Also note that there are limiting factors such as the Satchel Points. You have a max value and thus a limited number of spells. Use up all your points on counters and you will have no way of defeating even the simplest of encounters, an example being: encountering a wild creature (in the rpg this is treated as a creature already on the battlefield and thus unable to be countered as a spell since the creature is not cast). Also consider that some quests do not run as a one shot battle, but rather as a stretch of mini encounters. If you focus on specializing in one category then you may find yourself gassed out mid way through the quest and unable to take further actions.

Phyrexian mana will likely not be limited since a resource, life in this case, is being paid to cast the spell. Of course if there is a spell that we deem too strong by being a free cast as long as you have the life to pay for it, then we may end up limiting that particular spell to 1 or 2 castings within character satchels (satchels= your deck).

Lands do not use up your satchel points. All spells are limited to 4 max except for the ones that specifically say you may have any number within your deck. Do note that there are a few spells that are limited to 1 or 2 castings. Non basic lands are usually found during quests, either as a side bonus for that quest or as the specific goal of that quest.

I know the rules is a massive wall of text, but all of this is answered within their relevant spoilers in that thread. Please consult the rules page as everything I've answered thus far has been something you can look up within the rules. I'm fine with answering a few questions, but repeating the same answers that can be found within the rules does get tiring.

    Any other questions? Smile

Saffi handed Mar a tile and almost through him through the portal screaming, "You're late! Hurry after the two!"

With that she did shove him through sending the cleric sprawling through a blinding white light only to arrive under a purple sun that shone dimly.

The journey between planes was disorienting enough that even Mar's feline sense of balance escaped him as he found himself skidding through a blackish brown sludge on his back. After a few feet and perhaps a tinge of embarrassment, he found himself at the feet of a little girl with Cyouni standing not too far away from him.

He found himself within the heart of his guild hall quickly enough. Though first impressions of the scene left his hopes dashed. There were signs of a struggle here. Scorch marks and dried blood marred the walls.

And yet, there were no bodies. There was something else not quite right about this whole scene, about the guild hall. He felt as though the place was abandoned and that he was alone. Yet there was an echo of an emotion that he could sense.

He couldn't quite place his finger upon it but he knew something was off...

"I hope that's a natural reaction on this plane and not the work of our quarry. If I recall correctly, an earthquake sensation had been felt just prior to the event at house Shimia, at least that's what I gathered from witnesses. What do you two think?" asked Xen as he continued up the trail making sure to keep firm footing.

hello, i'm thinking about creating a character, but will have to read the rules a couple of times first, it's rather intimidating ^^

    few questions:
is my satchel my "deck", houses my available spells, etc.? Do i have access to any spell in my satchel at a given point?
where exactly are the signups for each adventure area? to i just pop in? do the mods tell me to write myself in?

why exactly are 0 costed spells limited to 1 cast per turn? they tend to be rather weak :/, is it something about the rp that makes a bunch ornithopters broken? (i can see how it's broken if you have access to your entire sachel though... see question above about that)
(i really want to eventually RP an affinity user xD, doesnt really work when you can't play your stuff xD).

Yes, your satchel equates to your deck. Your hand is effectively equal to spells you can cast per round (you are able to cast 3 per round at the start of the game [a round is your turn and each other players' turn]).

The houses are factions that embody a single portion of the color pie (i.e. House Shanodia = the green color pie faction)

You have access to each spell in your satchel at any given time.

Currently the adventures are limited to those who have signed up. A request can be sent in to any of the mods to either join a current quest or for a quest of your own.

Since every player has access to each spell in their satchel, zero cost spells can result in redundant if not broken combos. Hence the limit on zero cost spells. Though we could apply a special rule concerning affinity to allow the spells to still be cast efficiently. Such a rule would be along the lines of lowering the cost down to but not necessarily all the way to zero. I'd have to check our previous rulings, but I think we did decide that if the cost for a spell is reduced to zero, one could choose to pay the one mana extra to cast the zero cost spell that would normally be limited by the one zero cost spell per turn rule.

    Any other questions?

Pieces of the sludge fall off his hand as he releases the mana, each bit glowing a soft purple. A glance down at his tattoo revealed pieces missing from where the sludge had fallen.

Forward was a good question considering they could head in any direction. Of those directions there was the immediate slag of metal rising out of the ground to what was probably their north if the purple sun was of any indication. Something about that mound screamed of architecture. To the east and west the water sludge continued on for as far as their eyes could see. To the south the water continued towards what looked like more protrusions of slag from the ground with a reddish glow on that horizon.

As Gully asked Cyouni for a direction, the mana he had been drawing to himself began to interact through the tattoo with the sludge. The prickling suddenly became daggers of pain as the sludge formed into raised spikes tracing the form of the tattoo. His mana was being siphoned off by whatever the sludge was. Though panic may have been rising within him another emotion took hold of him through the pain.

A whisper of hope, for through the pain he could sense cracks in the binding which had been applied to him so long ago...

Cyouni suffers a life loss each turn he continues to draw on black mana. Currently the substance is interfering with Cyouni's filter. React however you see fit.

I wont be able to hold back this time. I'm certain these foes will be stronger than what I've encountered thus far. Thought Xen as he continued forward. Mentally he reached out towards his mana sources and brushed lightly upon each color available to him, never quite drawing upon the mana. The swamp magic will likely help in this matter though. Still, these beings appear to be Walkers and caution must be exercised.

He thought of the reports about the orb which had devastated House Shimia. I wonder how such magic may have been formed?

Xen thought of his own ability which allowed him to tap into his own physical being and releasing that form into the essence of mana. A sudden bit of inspiration occurred to Xen causing him to slow his pace slightly, enough that the other might noticed.

Perhaps the process isn't one way? Maybe like the cycle of existence the forms can flow from one state to the other? If that's the case it should be possible to reverse the flow... One could apply mana to the physical form... From there you could apply opposite directions in the flow... The physical converts to mana while the mana shell surrounding the physical form flows into a physical shape...

Xen grinned from ear to ear as he picked up his pace again. The end result is a new binding. This may even be how the crystals containing our spells are formed.

Xen fought the urge to stop in his tracks to record his findings in his journal. Still the ideas held his interest feeding his curiosity. He was eager to apply this newest theory. But the task of finding the attackers still lay ahead of him...

With a vision in place, Aramil felt an internal jerk before experiencing a popping sensation as he found himself materializing into the familiar surroundings of his guild. And yet, there was an eerie silence about the place, different from what he was used to when he visited. The sewers felt truly empty.

Was he too late? Was that group able to pierce the heart of the unseen and forgotten? Or had the guild cut ties with the compromised hall?

Silence and the ache from his travels were all that answered him. This new found ability of his severely drained him, made worse by the injuries he had incurred...

Seeing no arguments from his companions, Xen decided to head up the trail towards the summit. He did glance back after a few yards to make sure the others were following as well.

The two find themselves blinded for a split second by the portal's light as they step through. Then within moments their bodies tell them of the temperature change as their momentum carries them sliding across a cold hard surface slicked over by a black liquid.

Looking around revealed they were in what appeared to be a metallic landscape covered in a brown and black sludge of water. Sight was limited unfortunately by the twilight, at least that's how their brains interpreted the purple light radiating from above.

Beyond the metallic sights were the subtle sounds of what might be small critters scurrying about.

There did not appear to be any immediate signs of the ones they were pursuing.

As Cyouni brought his hands out of the muck the sludge slowly dripped off leaving behind a darker substance sticking to his left hand. A light prickling could be felt where the substance made contact with his tattoo.

Saffi shook her head in irritation saying, "Mar should have been here by now..."

She looked at the two of you before sighing saying, "We can't wait any longer. Head through the portal and see what you can find. I'll send Mar through after you. Now go!"
