  • posted a message on Modern Soulflayer
Just wanted to let people know I played Soulflayer the last three FNMs, just following the successful decks reported in this thread. My record at a competitive LGS: 1-3, 3-1, & 3-1. Hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, and vigilance on a creature is a wonderful feeling! I will put the deck down for now, since there are so many kinds of other decks to play. But I will keep my eye on this thread - I really appreciate the research and testing - and play Soulflayer every two months or so, especially when some innovations to the deck, or changes in the metagame, occur.

  • posted a message on Location of Competitive Modern League Results?
I understand Competitive Modern League results will be posted about twice a week now. I want to regularly and reliably find these lists. This <link> is an example. But I do not know where these type of articles are stored. There appears to be hierarchical links listed at the top of the page: "ARTICLES HOME > ARCHIVES > MTGO Standings", but they do not seem to be useful for locating other lists. So, please tell me where to go to find archived MTGO League results - I cannot. Thanks in advance.

Please tell me about Blood Moon in the sideboard. Worth it. Describe how/when it is used.

Turns might benefit from Jace being present in the deck of others: them tapping out on turn four.

@yuseimax I am ignorant of Chromantiflayer decks. I occasionally peeked into this thread, but have now built the above list. Looking it over, preparing to play, I now need to ask, when and how do you use sideboard Magus of the Moon? And do you have any updates?

I want players to offer me their opinions on the sideboard cards: Echoing Truth and Set Adrift. Personally, I have only ever used Set Adrift - with mixed results. But, I never understood how Echoing Truth could be better because the target card(s), eg. Leyline of Sanctity, returns the next turn when the opponent recasts it. Echoing Truth seems to offer you a one round window to win, while Set Adrift keeps the milled card out of the opponent's hand forever.

What do others see as the pros and the cons to these two cards, and when are they most effective against, say, Leyline of Sanctity?

What is the consensus on "Settle the Wreckage" in Esper Draw-go or UW control? How does it rank compared to other board wipes? Say, something like, Day of Judgment < Damnation < Wrath of God < Settle the Wreckage < Supreme Verdict ??

  • posted a message on [Primer] Lantern Control
Yeah, I read the article and was inspired to play Lantern for the first time in about two months. So I assembled the list and played FNM to a 2-1-1 record. I was not sure about the main deck Engineered Explosives, so I shunted it to the sideboard for a Welding Jar. Mistake? I seem unsure how to utilize Engineered Explosives in our deck that critically relies on permanents at costs 0, 1, and 3. Tips or insights on when to use EE, and against what?

I would like to see a current deck list from kanister, as well.

  • posted a message on Modern Esper Draw-Go
I appreciate this post is, on one hand, "obviously" off topic (and perhaps not competitive enough), thus it may be ignored or removed, but I think my question could be stimulating and relevant enough because instead of asking what people ARE playing (thanks for the current list Cody_X) I here ask what people are "not quite playing" - and that could be illustrative for everyone. You see, I have been been assembling the card pool for an Esper Draw-Go themed Battle of Wits modern deck, with the goal of making it as competitive as possible. Taking the stock list above as a starting template, and assuming I need to scale it up by a factor of x4 to reach about 240 cards, with your indulgence, I seek opinions on what would be the next-best-choices in each category. For example, a diluted sweeper suite would include some Wrath of God, Damnation, and/or Day of Judgement.

I am particularly interested in an expanded list of card advantage, beyond Think Twice, Esper Charm, and Sphinx's Revelation. And people's opinion on when to bring in card filtering (e.g. Opt and Serum Visions) in lieu of unforgivablely bad choices in any of the traditional Draw-Go categories: counter spells, card advantage, spot removal, sweepers, and win conditions. Thanks in advance; I will seriously take account of all comments.

This is a wistful, perhaps idle, question, but please indulge me with your thoughts: will Dominaria have slivers, and what are the chances of Crystaline Sliver in Standard and Modern?

An Enduring Ideal deck made day two of the SCG Modern Open Syracuse. Would love to know the deck list. Was it ever on camera? I hope the pilot reports here.

Okay, that sideboard. I really want to know how it works. The more detail the better please! What comes in, and what comes out, against what? Thanks in advance.

I know this is an aside, and I doubly regret this comes as the first comment, but . . . do you post your "goat tribal" decks anywhere here on mtgsalvation (including your latest list)? I bought most, if not all the cards for some of your past brews. I just want to know where you are at now, and if you update anywhere. Thanks. And, good luck with the horse deck, too!

Thanks for the advice WBND - even though I did not take it!! Maybe next week. This week I played three Porphyry Node[s] instead of three Suppression Field[s]. Anyway, last FNM, my third one, I went 3-1: an improvement. I beat U/R Delver, Affinity, and Humans, but lost to Infect (there were play mistakes on my part).

I also discovered someone else is beginning to play a similar W/U Pillowfort deck. I hope we do not start affecting the local metagame towards more enchantment hate.

How much do others expect to play Solemnity upon release? Main or sideboard? 1,2,3, or 4? How many Phyrexian Unlife? I guess I would like to see speculative deck lists!

Edit: Oh yeah, and I wanted ask if there is an enchantment we could include to stop Emrakul? I lost to Emrakul, the Aeons Torn even when I had Enduring Ideal online. What could have stopped it?
