What is driving the price of Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet? Modern, standard, speculators...all three?? Currently it holds the honor of being the most expensive card in the set. I knew it was good, but not good enough to beat out the marquee Eldrazi lords and Planeswalkers. What's up?
So I've been working on building an Eldrazi deck ever since my Twin got the ban hammer. I think I've settled on the BW version but I'm curious; I don't see any Eldrazi Displacer being run, why is that? Seems like it interacts favorably with many of our creatures. Is it simply because it doesn't pass the bolt test?
As others had mentioned Duel Decks and Clash Packs are a good starting point. Generally the Clash Packs are more focused and of higher quality. They also have the advantage of being designed to be combined into a single, more competitive deck. Duel Decks are fun and full of flavor but tend to be unbalanced. But some of them come with Planeswalkers which are always fun. You also have the option of Event Decks. They are SUPPOSABLY playable right out of the box at Friday Night Magic event, although to varying success. They are however a great kickoff point for modifying them into a competitive deck without too much more investment.
Around... maybe a year ago, my local Walmart was selling double blister packs, filled with Innistrad. I bought them all out over the course of a few months and pulled two Liliana's, a Snapcaster, a Cavern of Souls, and a GoST. For MM2 I told myself I wasn't going to buy a box. Instead I broke down and ended up buy the equivalent number of packs and ended up with two Goyfs.
I'll probably never pull another decent rare or mythic as long as I live, but that's ok by me.
That's creepy. I had a nearly identical experience with the 2 blister pack of Inn from Walmart except no Caverns. Weird.
Idk. But I'd be suprised if such a card existed. If it changed ALL lands, including basics, it would be durable mass land destruction. You'd be limited to 1 basic of each type due to the legendary rule. WotC isn't a fan of repeatable mass land destruction.
3.5 decks here but that's only because Grixis is so interchangeable. There are only a few cards difference between Grixis Delver/Control/Twin so I decided to pick up all the necessary pieces for those. I get a wide variety of play styles from those the decks. I've also go 4/5's of a Naya Zoo, just missing a couple goyfs.
We all know he's a power house. He's widely used in both Standard and Modern Tier 1-2 decks. The problem is he keeps getting reprinted. Is he still a decent speculation target or are there simply too many of them in circulation now? At around $5 it's tempting to pick up a few playsets but I don't know if it's worth the bother if he's doomed to be a sub $10 the rest of his life due all the reprints. Thoughts?
I cracked 2 fatpacks and 1 box with no luck on Expeditions. I did pull;
2 foil forests
2 Drana
Gideon
Ulamog
Ob Nixilus
6 different Tango lands
2 Shambling Vents
Ruinous Path
Plus a lot of middle tier rares and mythics (9 total mythics!)

Edit: Wait, Caverns wasn't in Inn?
