This looks like a good start. I'm definitely interested in hearing how your games go. Here are a few notes:
I'll second Reaper's two cents on Mnemonic Wall over Scrivener. There are plenty of times where being able to recur a more relevant sorcery can matter.
Scribe of the Mindful's activated ability is slightly cheaper than Spellkeeper Weird's if P/T isn't a big factor for the deck. Both have "tap" in their activation so I am curious how well they do.
Other cards to I would consider for your maybe-board include: Costly Plunder, Perilous Research, or the newly spoiled Spark Harvest as a means of getting your creatures into the yard. Also, Fade into Antiquity if Deglamer and bounce aren't enough versus indestructibles.

Nice article with interviews with the artists involved and nods to classic art.

Maybe I'm just being a little more skeptical in my old age but what I heard at approximately the 3:30 mark was "There is a set we are thinking about putting it in." (Emphasis mine). That's not a lock by any means.
And more than likely Wizards would want to update the artwork and that is typically done a year out from release. So if it's not a lock at this point that means we probably won't see it until the end of 2020 at the earliest.
That said, I would love to see it reprinted and I'm excited about a lot of what was discussed in the interview but at the same time things move super slow so we'll see.
Jan 20, 2019Are mythics allowed as Commanders or just normal rares?Posted in: Variant Commander
I know some constructed variants for Peasant have a limit on the number of uncommons a deck can run. Does this have one?
Are there specific uncommons that put Alesha on your watch list? I've brainstormed an all commons version but was never impressed with the deck's power level.

It's okay but Unhallowed Pact and Shade's Form are better, more direct options for that. Undying Evil also is a better reactive means of achieving the same effect.

That was my initial impression as well but you never know.
A few additional cards you might want to consider include Tidehollow Strix, Thorn of the Black Rose, and Star Compass. Also, while digging around I found someone else's PDH Rona list here. It has a slightly more aggro strategy than what you may be after but it might be worth a look.
Jan 16, 2019Looks like a good start. The number of lands are a little low for my tastes. I'd do 35 or 36 at the very least. Merchant Scroll & Mystical Teachings are definite includes as well.Posted in: Variant Commander
Land options include:
- Path of Ancestry
- Submerged Boneyard
- Terramorphic Expanse
- Evolving Wilds
- Ash Barrens
- Seat of the Synod
- Vault of Whispers
- Darksteel Citadel
Notion Rain might be an alternative to either Read the Bones or Forbidden Alchemy depending on how aggressive you want to be in filling up our graveyard.
You'll also need some creature recursion as well. Cadaver Imp, Grim Discovery, Reaping the Graves, and/or Fortuitous Find are all solid options.
Let me know how Cabal Paladin works out. Looks interesting.

Haven't made it all the way thru it yet but it looks interesting. He could have combo'd out at roughly the 10 minute mark if he had Flickered the Drake and a basic land instead of going for Mulldrifter. Will rewatch after lunch.Quote from Upkeep »Also, have you seen this?
//EDIT: Lol! I just realized this is you Upkeep. Now I feel a little silly. Keep it up! Really I enjoyed the Turbo Fog game.

Indeed. I've actually been working on my own version of Nin based on your initial efforts as well as what Upkeep and Alexandre have been doing with Adeliz.
Regarding Rona, I'm curious to see what you have so far and think it could be an interesting option. The biggest challenge with her is finding the right balance of artifacts so her ability is relevant while not diluting the deck. Additionally, according to Gatherer every time she leaves play you have to start over. Any previously exiled cards are no-go. Sivitri Scarzam is another consideration for blue-black if you want to draw out the game and win with commander damage, albeit pricey at 7cmc.
Are these games intended to be 1v1 or multiplayer? Is commander damage still 21 or lower?
I agree with Upkeep that Tatyova, Benthic Druid or Adeliz, the Cinder Wind might be better options but I'll be happy to help out with whatever you go with. Sounds fun!

I do like Fire // Ice even though it's probably not an ideal utility card for Child. Still wanna test it.
Nov 19, 2018Here ya go. Seems like an okay addition to Pauper. Maybe a little slow but still. For some reason I was thinking Breath of Life & False Defeat were already Pauper legal but apparently not.Posted in: The Rumor Mill

A number of you may be familiar with the Annual Holiday Card Exchange that has been going on for more than 10 years! For those who aren't, it's a community run fun event, where people alter cards for the holiday, and mail them out to each other.
The Art forums have always been quite closely tied to the Holiday Card Exchange, so this year we're giving you all a short reminder that it's up and running!
It's always a lot of fun and holiday alters are always a nice talking point at events. So anyways, feel free to check it out, and join in if you would like! We'd love to have you participate!
