I like this new one more, although the scoring process could be explained a bit more. But this one gave me U/G/R, which is exactly what I consider myself!
In my experience, learning to drive cars that handle vastly differently is a good thing. You never know when you'll need to drive an unfamiliar car. I've driven everything from a 17 year old junker Ford Explorer to a compact of some brand which I can't recall at the moment to a Ford Excursion with a 15 foot trailer, making it nearly the length of a semi. And now, I can feel fairly comfortable jumping into nearly any car.
So even if a new car handles differently, you get used to it with a little practice, and it's good to be able to drive a lot of different cars. Just my experience.
I'm not sure about the Akroma/Animate Dead, but mine doesn't work:
Quote from Comp. Rules 606.3 »
A player may activate a loyalty ability of a permanent he or she controls any time he or she has priority and the stack is empty during a main phase of his or her turn, but only if none of its loyalty abilities have been activated that turn.
For a while you could use Mycosynth Lattice to turn a planeswalker into an artifact, then use March of the Machines to turn that into a creature, then use Experiment Kraj to put a +1/+1 counter on it and then Kraj could activate the planeswalker abilities any number of times in a turn. Now the one per turn is part of the planeswalker ability, instead of the planeswalker itself. Still kind of a cool (if useless) trick to give Kraj some planeswalker abilities.
One of my favorites was a warrior deck that included normal warrior things like Bramblewood Paragon and Brighthearth Banneret. Then it also had things like Door of Destinies, and the best part Mercy Killing. The goal was to play a bunch of warriors, getting them as big as possible, then play mercy killing on one of those. They're all warriors, so they get the bonus from Door of Destinies (They don't trigger adding counters though :-/). I remember one game where I had 19 24/24s. I loved that deck. I should rebuild it...
They air Bin-Laden and Al Qaeda terrorist videos. Not to mention they air tons of footage of Western hostages.
Now say what you will, but they're basically doing the terrorists a service. No respectable nation, not even the ones that hate the US and that may be secretly funding/harboring terrorist organizations, acknowledge these figures so openly. Give the network a chance? I'd rather read Arab state-controlled media.
Perhaps Al-Jazeera is the epitome of too much freedom of the press.
They air the videos because they have access to the videos. They're not agreeing with them, they're merely reporting the news. Which is exactly what I'm looking for in a news source. The facts with as little bias as possible. Or, when there is a bias, an equally strong bias from the other side. And that's what I find in Al-Jazeera.
It's like the Christian Science Monitor. I have read some great stuff in there even though it's Christian.
See:
Quote from Wikipedia »
Despite its name, the Monitor is not a religious-themed paper, and does not promote the doctrine of its patron church. However, at its founder Eddy's request, a daily religious article has appeared in every issue of the Monitor. Eddy also required the inclusion of "Christian Science" in the paper's name, over initial opposition by some of her advisers who thought the religious reference might repel a secular audience.
They're owned by the Church of Christ, Scientist (which is arguably a cult), but it's in no way a Christian news source.
I normally don't mind divergent viewpoints but I'd think Al Jazeera would work me up enough to throw something at my computer monitor. -.-
Why's that? Al-Jazeera is very balanced. Certainly more than any US-based station. In fact, I like using it and BBC in matters of US politics. I find that sources in the US are too biased.
As for me, I'll glance over the headlines on Yahoo when I check my email, and if anything interests me, I'll read into it (not usually on Yahoo though). Otherwise I just figure that if it's important I'll hear about it somewhere. Either from someone I know or on one forum or another.
Oh, and I watch the Daily Show and Colbert Report. Those count... Right?
I recently, like, last week, picked up Pokemon FireRed. I'm loving it. My childhood was filled with Pokemon. The newer games get a bit ridiculous. Ruby/Sapphire weren't too bad. But the new Pokemon in Diamond and Pearl are just ridiculous. Magmortar being a prime example. Magmar was one of my favorite Pokemon, and they go and make this ridiculous evolution.
That said, if I have the money to spare, I may pick up one of the games anyway :-D Or the remake of Gold/Silver (HeartGold and SoulSilver. Ridiculous names...)
The "documented case" is a result of stupidity. If you 1) Jailbreak it, 2) Install SSH, and 3) Don't change the default password, then someone can break in. But that's the result of stupidity. It's exactly like setting up a wireless router and not changing the default key, then complaining when someone uses it without your permission.
As for the original question, I know it's possible to use an external device as an input. There's a VNC server you can install on a jailbroken touch, and you can use that to type from a computer. But I don't know of any keyboards you can connect through the USB connector.
Can anyone point me to some guides/articles/videos that deal with all of the uncommon points about this game. There is a lot of lingo that is due to the community and not the game. Also for example jwar isle refuge has rules I haven't seen described elsewhere. It's a land so obviously can only be destroyed by a spell that destroys a land, but is this card part of my normal untap/tap phase and will give me a land each time? Also it states it enters the battlefield tapped....does that mean I get a land right off the bat? Also gives one life when it enters the battlefield...land doesn't get summoning sickness so I just get 1 life right off the bat right? Why not play a blue/black deck with tons of these and get a huge mana base up quick?
To answer the rule question. Jwar Isle Refuge does exactly what it says: When it comes into play, it is tapped, and you gain one life. You didn't tap it for mana, it just is tapped. That means that you can't play it's activated abilty (the ability with the colon), because you can't do what it says to do before the colon. So this means that on the turn you play it: 1) you gain 1 life, and 2) you can't get mana from it. The reasons people don't use a lot of them are: 1) you can't get mana right away, so you'll be a turn behind your opponent who is playing regular basic lands, and 2) you can only have 4 of a card with the same name in your deck, other than basic lands. The other thing I'd like to point out is that there is no "tap phase". You're untap phase comes right at the beginning of your turn, and unless a card specifically says otherwise (Altar Golem), it will always untap then.
Also my girlfriend and I have started playing this together, so we have been learning as we go, so things have been kind of jerky getting started. What are some things to do to refine my game without going to the local comic shop. Last time I was at mine it was filled with children and would prefer the company of peers at least (I'm 27).
The best way is a game store. It's too bad that the one you went to is so young, but if there are others in your area check them out, or try going to that one on a different night. Different tournaments draw different crowds. Otherwise read tournament reports, read the deck forums here, things like that.
I noticed some of my Zendikar cards have "M10" on them in the middle right. And some just have the diamond.
What's the differance? They came from the same pack I thought....Unless its because the start pack had a mix.
The ones that have M10 are from M10, the ones with the diamond are from Zendikar. The Intro packs have decks that are a mix of the latest expansion (Zendikar) and the latest Core Set (M10)
As for my question about the jwar isle refuge what's the point if you can only get one land out of it? Other than you get 1 life and you can pick which land you wish to have, but do many people play a blue/black deck? Also after you get your 1 land and life, do you just throw the card in your graveyard?
When you use the land by tapping it, it stays in play. You can then untap it at the beginning of your next turn and use it again. That's how all lands work, it's just that instead of having the text "T: Add one C mana to you mana pool." They just have the symbol in the text box.
Thanks for the help. I figure I'll stick with it for a month at least. See how some of the parties go. See if I feel uncomfortable. It's not that I'm antisocial, it's just that I'm not one for alcohol. If I feel uncomfortable, I back out and join IEEE.

I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it's an awesome story. Just remember to cite your source if you use it in an essy;)

A basic description of all the rules can be found on the official Magic: the Gathering website, here: http://www.wizards.com/magic/rules/EN_Magic_Basic_Rulebook_20090710.pdf

Steampunk - Anything. Steampunk rules.
Lewis Caroll - Imagine, a set based off of Wonderland. With the Jabberwock and all!
All the other things I can think of are sci fi. And I don't want sci fi Magic.
