Haven't altered it yet, but I'm liking the ideas of genesis and dark ritual. Any ideas on troll ascetic? Should i put it in this deck? If so, what should I replace?
Before anyone comments, I know this isn't a casual deck that's neccesarily fun (well, i think its fun) but in my playgroup we all have our casual good decks and this is mine. It's sort of old school rock but with new cards.
The manabase might need to be tweaked a little bit. I had more hand disruption in the form of cabal therapy and duress but they weren't effective for me. The hyppie's are mainly for an autotargeted removal because opponents fear them. My main opponents are vial goblins (sort-of legacy version, no matrons) and B/G/W control (A LOT of removal and hard hitters such as Loxodon Hierarch, spiritmonger and graveshell scarab). I can mainly deal by using baloths, kokushos and spike feeders for life gain, while we use our removal on each other, but now he plays feldon's cane so he can outlast me. I'm hoping to somehow fit in, or at least sideboard in, some draw. Perhaps in the form of carven caryatid or wall of blossoms. Against goblins I tend to lose in the first 5 or 6 turns, if it lasts longer I win. I'm looking for comments and critiques on how to make this better. I have a pretty big wallet, but we have an unspoken agreement banning such cards as umezawa's jitte, duals and all manner of stupid broken cards. Thanks in advance to all who respond!
howling mine might be good for some draw, as you'll be getting a lot of mana accel. Maybe even wheel of fate in case your magma spike reveals nothing but garbage and you keep drawing bad stuff. If you play it turn 2, then you can draw until you get it. By turn 5 or 6 you should be able to win anyway with all your accel in your hand and an ignite memories, but if you don't have it, then wheel of fate will let you try and whip it out turn 6, It's an interesting deck idea, but slow if you don't have ignite memories in your hand.

I got into magic after a sort of break after dissention. So out for about 4 or 5 months (maybe less?). I bought a box of TS and my first pack was foil serra avenger, time shifted akroma and ancestral vision. I'd say Magic smiled upon me that day
is confinement slide a viable deck in extended? For those that don't know it's slide that uses life from the loam and solitary confinement to create a lock in the game then use the usual exalted angel for some beats.
Yes, I've been gone for months. My last post was a month ago, just to get some reviews on a deck i made, then a month before was a few posts. More or less, I've been on vacation from MTGS and magic in general. Of course TS yanked me by the navel back into magic, I'm full of deck ideas and I'm developing a set with a friend of mine. BTW, any average Extended Goblins piloted by a player in sleep deprevation would butcher your deck 5 turns before you can play Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker with 20 land.
Not if he's a nice guy. I sure let him have a couple turns of safety before i butchered him with my old Ravager deck. :glee:Perhaps i should splash green instead of blue for landsearch and spore frog?
Too much mana cost involved? It requires at maximum 4B. Everything besides Shirei costs 2 and under. I'm already running 3 thoughtcast. I understand your point with glimmervoid, but over 1/3 of my deck is artifacts so glimmervoid works for me. I don't play in a competitive environment with this deck, I'm usually against at best extended Goblins or W/B/G control. I don't really have to worry about anti-artifact so glimmervoid will work fine, but in a more competitive setting I understand. I'll definitely consider thirst but I'm keeping the zubera. They were what made my old Shirei deck originalish. I'm not trying to be uber best. I just want to tighten the screws of this deck.
The basic point is to get out ravager/disciple with shirei. Alternatives are Carrion feeder/pray for good luck. I run blue for card draw in order to get combo pieces but it just needs shirei + ravager/carrion feeder. Disciple is just a bonus. I can usually stall with just shirei but i need ravager or carrion or disciple for the win. It's a little slow and has a 50/50 win rate against pretty much everything. Comments/Critique anyone?
