I'll happily trade any cards I'm not currently using to get cards for a deck I want to play. So, it's all about playing the game for me.

Jun 4, 2018I'm usually pretty chill in that I'm not a competitive player. If I win, great. If I lose, great. I'm usually just there to have fun and unwind after a long week at work. I think the most toxic thing I've ever done is, after nearly losing a match, I tossed a card on the field and said, "Phew" and breathed out heavily. It was a very good match. I just got lucky that he didn't have what he needed to beat me that turn.Posted in: Magic General
That said, I did play against a girl who never read the rules on her cards. She knew the general rules of how to play but didn't have any idea of what her cards did. She was playing a very low CMC RDW deck, and honestly, she should have been tearing me apart. We were on good terms (not friends, but we knew each other from FNM), so in my curiosity to make sure the card she was playing was actually what I thought it was, I picked it up and looked at it. She immediately picked it up after I read it, found out it had a pump ability of some kind, and used it.
Whatever the case, she never read the cards. She'd play them as if they had nothing but flavor text, mana symbols, and power/toughness on them. After playing a few matches against her, I really wanted to go buy her a set of the "RTFC" card sleeves. I didn't buy them nor did I mention anything about needing to read her cards, but that's probably about as toxic as I've gotten.
Jun 4, 2018Found this deck online. Made a couple of changes to it. Still testing it on MTGO, but I figured I'd post it here:Posted in: Budget (Modern)
Nov 2, 2017Dark Depths itself is colorless, but it can produce a black avatar creature. Would that cause Dark Depths to be outside the color identity of a Mono-White deck? Or would that be legal since Dark Depths is colorless?Posted in: Magic Rulings
Jul 24, 2017I don't get a chance to play at FNM much, but when I do, I'd like to have a constructed deck ready just in case we don't have enough drafters that day, or I just don't feel like drafting. So, any advice or suggestions on the below deck are welcome (still working on the sideboard):Posted in: Standard Archives

Jul 20, 2017ServiceGames posted a message on Is there such a thing as a budget Modern Death's Shadow deck?I saw what was claimed to be a "budget" Modern Death's Shadow deck on MTG Goldfish which was $955. I don't call that budget at all. Granted, I understand that a playset of the card Death's Shadow by itself almost puts the deck outside "budget" range. But, that card aside, has anyone come up with just a fun Modern Death's Shadow deck that people could play at FNM, casually with friends, or just to get a feel for how Death's Shadow plays if they actually wanted to pursue a more expensive version? I've done a lot of looking around on google this morning, and I can't find anything that's remotely "budget" when it comes to Death's Shadow.Posted in: Budget (Modern)
If anyone has any budget brews for a Modern Death's Shadow deck, I'm definitely up for hearing about it!
Jul 17, 2017ServiceGames posted a message on I want to put together a Westvale Abbey deck... can't really find a starting point. Any help would be appreciatedSo, I am a sucker for Lands of all kinds. They are my favorite type of MTG card. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to put into a Lands deck in Legacy and while there is a Lands brew in Modern, it's still quite expensive. But, Westvale Abbey has caught my attention, and I'd like to put a deck together that I can play for the next couple of months with the sole purpose of transforming Westvale as soon as is possible. The problem is that all of the Westvale-specific decks that I find online are either pre-rotation or right after rotation which leaves a lot of holes in card choices.Posted in: Standard Archives
Could anyone help me out? I know this deck won't be super competitive, but it'll be fun to play until rotation. I'm thinking maybe a Golgari Eldrazi Ramp deck (using the Scion tokens they create) may be the best way to get it to flip quickly, but that's really about as far as I've gotten so far.
Any help would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, Emrakul has only dropped in price by about $1 or $2 since the banning.

With the exception of a couple few creatures (Wurmcoil Engine, Thragtusk, and Myr Battlesphere) that leave tokens when they die or create tokens when they ETB, I pretty much am playing Eldrazi Tron... it's just not colorless. Why am I not playing colorless? Well, while Eldrazi Creatures have ways to ramp, a colorless Tron deck only has one playset of a land tutors (Expedition Map) to be able to find the Tron lands. Mono-Green has three playsets of land tutors (Sylvan Scrying, Expedition Map, and Ancient Stirrings) which help get Tron online much faster. Also, Eldrazi like World Breaker require colored mana to cast (even though they are colorless) and are great cards.Quote from D90Dennis14 »Without "Karn" and "Ugin" you might as well play "Eldrazi Tron".
I am open to suggestions of switching the second color to anything else. I just haven't really found an updated list to start building from that does what I want it to do. Considering Simic to be able to play Counter spells. Considering Golgari so that I can play Kill spells. Just can't really find any good builds of either of those to start a good build.
Thank you for the suggestion, though. I'll look further into the colorless Eldrazi Tron deck.
Jan 10, 2017While I wouldn't consider this deck budget, at the same time, it's not Tier 1 or Tier 2 quite yet, either. I am planning on heading to the SCG Modern Open in June of this year and plan to take this deck (or a slight variation) with me. I know that I need Karn and Ugin to really push this deck up in to the competitive ranks, but I was wondering if any of you all might have some suggestions for the deck that wouldn't break the bank (like the additional $230 needed for 4 Karn and 2 Ugin) especially now that Dredge is no longer really part of the meta.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Thanks in advance
