I have no idea how the graphs relate. Thus, I couldn't understand the article. Excellent writing however. Additionally great humor, I could still use some graph explanation.
I wasn't really intending to make it an alpha omega type card. It was more an interesting idea, that could probably be implemented better. Maybe grows for 3 turns and then sacs. You could probably lower the casting cost with a drawback like that.

the problem with the 4-set block is the core set. every other year a new core set comes out a couple months after the last set in a block. plus by the time the third set comes out the mechanics tend to be stale and bland.
about the promo thing. the reason why wizards gives them to judges and not out-right sell them is two fold. one, they are great prizes for people interested in magic, like judges. second, selling the promo cards to the public would not only less the value of the older versions but i seriously doubt wizards could sell them at a "good" price, one where they are buyable not cheap enough to effect older cards. plus wizards doesn't sell single cards.
Also judge cards are the only compensation they receive. These people are usually very skilled magic players and could probably get themselves a piece of the T8 pot.
I called the phone number from work. It goes automatically to voicemail. "You have reached the voicemail box of .." It then goes to: 'Muffled phone cord rattling'. I didn't bother leaving a message as I have never heard of someone having a message of nothing.
