Ludevic is dead so unless he is black (like they did with Mikaeus) I don't think we'll see him, especially since there is already a UB legendary in Gisa and Geralf. The BG legendary spider is good guess though. I honestly dont have a better guess myself right now.

Edit: i was thinking of Jenrik! Nvm

2 mana red mana Deal 3 damage to target creature or player. Put a colorless 3/2 Eldrazi Horror onto the battlefield.

    Seems pretty good.

This doesn't work, his ability only triggers if you discard a creature card.

    Shame.

    Shame.

    Shame.

    Shame.

This is great! I've been wanting this for so long.

Here's my wish list (there's actual reasoning and thought behind it but it's mostly just personal wants Tongue )

white mana red mana blue mana green mana : I have RUG deck that is all about tap/untap. I would love it if the commander had or synergized with activated abilities. There are a few cards I would love to have access to like flying crane technique and jeskai ascendancy.

red mana white mana black mana green mana : My Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck is my pride and joy. Green has so many utility creatures like Eternal Witness, Acidic Slime, and Qasali Pridemage, so the dream would be a creature with graveyard synergy. And since blue is the color with least number of creatures overall it would make sense for this guy to care about creatures in some regard. I could also see this deck just blowing up a lot of stuff since blue is the only color that doesnt really destroy outside of pongify effects.

blue mana black mana red mana green mana : I would like to see at least one commander care about spells or at the very least noncreature spells. In eternal formats Storm decks are Grixis and you see green in Doomsday for fastbond, so thats kinda where my idea for this guy being the spell deck. Not to mention white has the most creatures so a deck without it caring for noncreatures would be flavorful (if thats the term). Is too much to ask to have a combo laden deck? Smile

green mana white mana blue mana black mana : This is probably the one I've put the least thought into and have the least interest in. Tokens or enchantments kinda come to mind when I think of with this combination.

white mana red mana blue mana black mana I'm excited about this combination. Grixis, UW, UB, BW a lot of control variants in this combination. I wouldnt be surprised to see this be a very controling deck.

I'm surprised anyone is surprised by this being a rare. I can't imagine it being anything less. But man I love this card, and I love this reprint! Kudos WOTC.

I havent been either pro or anti emrakul/marit lage, but i definitely understand why people wouldnt want eldrazi in back to back block, but to me it makes sense why wotc would want to. They left the original eldrazi story on hold for 7 years. Doing it this way gives a lot of continuity and allows the story to flow. And we can leave the eldrazi behind without any cliffhangers or "where's emrakul?" for the next seven years. And every new block we wont have the obligatory emrakul is returning with a damnation reprint discussion.

Emrakrul is the perfect kind of horror for Innistrad. I dont know if you're familiar with HP Lovecraft at all but the art, the flavor, and the stories remind me so much of HPL and I love it. His work is basically gothic horror + Eldritch horror. Everything with HPL is about singularities, macabre, the unknown, creeping terror, etc etc.

The Eldrazi were originally influenced by HP back in Rise of the Eldrazi, but WOTC ruined that in BFZ and instead of HPL we just got a Godzilla story. I am actually excited that they're getting it right this time around.

Cosmic (Lovecraftian) Horror is very different from Innistrad's Gothic Horror. Cosmic is about being overwhelmed by one's insignifigance, while gothic is about the world and the atmosphere. A monster in every dark patch, a beast behind every tree. The very world of Innistrad is set up to encourage Gothic Horror, so even now with Avacyn going mad along with everyone else, it still feels like Gothic Horror. If Emmy comes through and turns the setting into Cosmic Horror, it will feel like a completely different world.

I strongly prefer Gothic over Cosmic Horror, so I want Innistrad to be preserved.

Theros would be a much better plane for Emmy to ruin. Cosmic Horror's main attribute is the grand scale. What better way to show off how little the people are than corrupting the very gods they worship? Now that is Cosmic Horror.

Little side note, and I'm going to be a little blunt. Lovecraft is very well known among horror fans and throughout geek culture. Asking someone on this board if they are familiar is kind of pointless. You are better off assuming the person knows, and if they don't they can google it.

The madness feels very lovecraftian especially with it happening to Jace. The learned and scholarly going insane once they get touched with the cosmic horrors and realize their insignificance in the universe is a common trope in his stories. Also, this is lovecraftian flavor within the MTG universe so it will never be 100% like the original, there will be twists to the flavor because it has to work within this mtg paradigm.

I dont think you need gods to be corrupted to create that lovecraftian atmosphere. I dont recall HPL writing about Azathoth corrupting Jesus or Vishnu so I dont see how it would take the corruption of gods to make for a cosmic horror feel? Lovecrafitan is very much a blend of Cosmic and Gothic/macabre. Idk to each theirown of course, but personally I have gotten a Lovecraftian-vibe from a lot of SOI so far. Hell I think the story about the Gitrog monster could have easily been an HPL story. I dont know how you think any other plane could be better for HPL than Innistrad

I am mostly just excited for a block that centers around Liliana, which means we're likely to get a new Liliana card and a lot of cards that depict/quote her. More cards for my Lili collection!

I don't really have any specific things I'm looking for as of right now, other than maybe Innocent Blood (depicting Liliana, perhaps). Innistrad seems to be WOTC's wheelhouse and imo SOI was an absolute homerun in many ways, so I'm excited to see what they have in store for us.

All of this hate for SSG, and four months ago half the forum probably never heard of the card.

Once April 4th comes around and the Eldrazi deck takes a hit the fast mana from SSG won't be that big of deal. I enjoy all the whacky combos in modern Living End, Goryo variants, Ad Nausuem etc etc. I would really hate to see those decks become collateral damage to the Eldrazi ban. I guess it would be perfect for our lil multi-planar monstrosities to ruin things as they come in and as they leave...

If this card were to see modern play there were two decks that first came to mind Bw tokens and kiki chord. BW tokens could easily get the creatures t2 bitterblossom, t3 lingering souls and you have the creatures, but they may have trouble getting to the sixth land.

Chord often has a plethora of both mana and creatures. Its a nonbo with chord but there are times when you just have a bunch of mana dorks and no real gas. Maybe this could be secondary option to finish off games in some match ups.

The original Macabre Waltz has always been one of my favorite pieces of mtg art. This one isn't quite as good as that classic, however I do love it! I can't wait to get one for my Liliana collection!

Also, as many have said already, it seems to have real potential for Delerium and/or Madness limited decks, which is also quite exciting.

With Nahiri being in SOI I imagine she should end up in some of the Uncharted Realms, Official Magic Story, which is exciting. As far as I'm aware there is no offical canon on how she survived the Mending, correct? The lowest hanging branch is probably some kind of stasis in a *cocoon*. Overall, I'm excited for more of Nahiri's story to be revealed.

Thanks! Some of those seem very plausible, and would make for an interesting story. Like i mentioned previously as long as it isnt a mustache twirling plot by Bolas i'll probably be happy.
