Five mana for plus one card advantage? No thanks. I'll just keep running the khans red enchantment and Vance's blasting.
i think you’re selling this short by a lot. This can be reused multiple times a turn not just a single upkeep trigger. Red has more synergy with artifacts than enchantments. Discarding can be a plus for delve, faithless looting, past in flames, madness etc. Not to mention theres a second side of this card, so it’s also a flexible card with options.
To me it looks like the raven leaving is Alrund to the character on the left, and the raven becomes compleated. Some of that filigree looks likes the raven’s wings.
Rune-scarred is always better than this so-called mythic. Never let your enemies choose for you.
Yeah, cards like that never see play, *cough* Gifts Ungiven *cough*. You're right punisher effects are typically bad, but I think your thought process is too linear. Rune-Scarred Demon is not always better by a long shot. This is one mana cheaper and in deck that cares for the graveyard it's tutoring 2 cards vs 1 card.
Wow, ok. Well that's a fantastic rate. And the boast ability hits creatures too, so could be quite good in any deck with sacrifice fodder.
Not sure about the flavor of a berserk, eradicating angel "boasting" of its feats, and getting a kill out of it. Having it as an attack trigger still makes sense, but I don't think the specific flavor of boasting fits this one.
For this set you can't think of these as traditional angels. They're Valkyries. They didn't use the creature type for the same reason they didn't use Viking. They're regional terms so that's why we have Angel, Berserker, Warrior, etc. "Angels" are just the closest equivalent in MTG terms.
How long until we get some enchantment or artifact that give creature cards in your hand foretell, allowing you to spend 2 then later on foretell for the actual mana cost -1 or - 2? The exile zone is now one step closer to being your third pile of cards in hand.
Does Zirda reduce the foretell cost, in this case down to GG?
I definitely understand the third pile concern but I really don’t feel like Foretell is crossing into that. Exile is used as a temporary holding zone for Foretell. This is basically Suspend but you decide when it’s cast. It’s not like you’re manipulating cards hit by Path to Exile or tormod's crypt.
It's like reverse Companion. I like the mechanic. It can avoid hand disruption. Helps you play around with hand size which can matter obviously with mechanics like Hellbent. Very interested to see more Foretell.
DAMN. :'( This was one of the ones I was most looking forward to getting something new.... Ikoria was okay but a lot of the best "sea monsters" were whales and sharks and M21 just gave us more whales... Wish all sea monster matter cards could be errated to include whales lol. C'MON, ZENDIKAR!
I have high hopes for Zendikar as well. Especially with Kiora there currently. Seriously WOTC, don't you even dare.
I can see it now fish and sharks as far as the I can see with a lone U/B Lorthos Reanimated as the sole creature with a Octopus, Serpent, Leviathan, or Kraken subtype. Arixmethes just wants some new friends (or spells).

I get what you’re saying. Thats still a difficult task to plane to plane, not to mention the 25 years worth of creatures. Sure they didnt need to make a random wurm “bigger” than eldrazi, but kinda need to take it all with a grain of salt. If the p/t were going to have more realistic relative p/t the eldrazi should probably be like 50/50 for p/t. Lol that’s why they have all the extra abilities because p/t isnt the only way to demonstrate “power”.
That’s silly. What’s the difference between a dragon, a drake, a serpent, or wurm? It’s physical characteristics that often distinguish them you dont need p/t tiers. On Segovia a leviathan is a 3/3 because everything on that plane is much smaller. Lorthos is a massive, ancient octopus bigger than quite a few leviathans and krakens.
Well, it's the three modes from Umezawa's Jitte. The only mode that is even a bit weird for a black card is the +2/+2, and the only thing weird about that is Black normally gives more power than toughness.
I wonder if it's a cycle, and whether there are cards in each color that have three modes that are suitable..
Yes, I realized the three modes
Black does not normally gain life without sacrificing something or taking the life from something. But I guess they let it pass for pure flavor goodness.
Black has a ton of lifelink and random life gain is tacked on quite a few cards. At the very least it doesn't seem out of color for black at all or a stretch to make flavor work.
Yeah I was really hoping for some weird combination of Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, and The Gitrog Monster for the Jund "Land Matters" Commander. Not my favorite card by a stretch, especially because you have to exile your creatures from your graveyard and you can't even pick creatures from your opponent's graveyards.
Totally agree... Where is the land matters in this deck? Being an X spell doesn’t really fit what I think most people had in mind when they heard the announcement... seems lazy.
