Ah ha! So here's the corroboration I was looking for. Another secret rare has been opened. I still wasn't sure if the Ancestral Recall was a fluke or what, since I'd heard nothing about anyone else opening these wacky rares.
Originally I had watched my friend open packs on video Skype. But I've since met up with him and seen the actual card. Held it, examined it, even smelled it. And as far as I can tell (I've been playing Magic steadily since Unlimited) it appears to be a pristine Unlimited Ancestral Recall. The wording is the right, the ink is obviously not the same as a modern card. Even the card stock is different.
So, yeah, an Ancestral Recall in his land slot. (I thought it was his rare in that pack, but it wasn't. He got the Bloodchief Ascension in there as well)
I've heard rumors from a friend that there are hidden rares in the set. Hidden power cards from Magic's past. He claims to have seen a white bordered Ancestral Recall in the rare slot of a booster. Has anyone else heard of such a theme for Zendikar?
I dunno what to think. It sounds a little bit plausible, and a little bit ridiculous at the same time.
