I know this was yesterday, but I absolutely love this card! What are some ideas people have?
It'd be nice to do some Thantis style here i.e. token generation, which forces your opponents to fight with a bigger army and you dealing more damage as well. I heart some equipment such as Whispersilk Cloak, attack right after Sylvan Offering. With tokens you could also do Sandsower to tap potential blockers, have some token generators likes Nahiri and Elspeth (Elspeth #1 also gives out flying). You only need one hit to goad all creatures, so you only need one unblockable creature (per opponent) to entice a total war.
That or just scrap precons down to 1 per year and do a commander booster set with its release so that the market can be tamed more, because some of these staples are ridiculous for new players to acquire (I doubt this will be a popular opinion).
It may not amount to much, but Maro did ask people on his Tumblr if they were interested in a draft set designed with Commander in mind. We might see something like this next year, or maybe the year after if the idea was well received.
Might pick up Anje Falkenrath because Innistrad, but other than that, I'm not that interested. Naya Populate DOES make sense, since RW and GW have both been token based in the past, but I'm not enthused because of a lack of Evergreen. Not even Vigilance? C'mon now.
Jeskai: Stats are awful. Abilities are great but a 2/2 for 5 is not acceptable to me at all.
Sultai: Might be fun to play with, possibly.
I don't really see the Jeskai commander's body as relevant. Since damage is prevented to it damage based removal and combat damage don't kill it. The only thing that cares about it's body is -x/-x based removal but that stuff is supposed to kill anything it targets and it's not super common. Basically you're paying 5 for an enchantment that prevents damage from your opponents' largest creatures and copies your first spell from your yard. Which seems fine.
While true, having Elesh Norn preventing you from having your commander out kinda sucks.
The Iona ban is absolutely ridiculous. She's so innocuous I was laughing when I read the announcement. I still think Paradox Engine is fine and shouldn't be banned, but at least that card *was* legit broken if you're that kind of player. Banning Iona is just a sign to me that the rules committee has completely lost touch.
One vote of no confidence from me. I think Wizards should take the reins and come up with a ban list that makes at least a *little* bit of sense.
you're sociopaths and I'm glad that I never have to sit down and be locked out of the game for 2 hours while I watch you play tbh
It shouldn't take two hours if these cards are played properly.
I can understand why people would want the P.Engine banned, but to me, it was like any other game ending combo that resulted in its opponent's defeat; scoop it up, and move on to the next game. Also it's kind of sad to see such an expensive card the the axe, especially for those that purchased it recently.
They probably shouldn't let players vote, but if they did I'd vote for a 3+ colored spellslinger deck or a 5 color Legends/Superfriends deck with commanders that feel better then the options we have now. Plus the 5 Color deck could have legends in less colors to increase diversity for decks that don't want to be 5 colors. If they were to do a colorless deck, more colorless answers to things that some colors struggle with could be put into that deck.
Finally! Thank you thank you! I’ve wanted both these cards gone. At least Urza can be built in a more fun yet still competitive manner.
I'm probably missing something, but doesn't this just result in Urza lists relying even harder on stax pieces he can make one-sided, like Winter Orb, Static Orb, or sometimes Trinisphere. That doesn't seem very fun to play against.
If I have a Ral, Storm Conduit in play, cast two instant and/or sorcery spells, then cast something with storm, like Grapeshot, does Ral ping a total of 4 or 5 times?
What if I have a Ral, Storm Conduit in play, cast two instant and/or sorcery spells, then cast a third instant or sorcery spell, all of this with Thousand-Year Storm in play, how many times will Ral ping?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Just so no one makes the same mistake I did tonight, Golos' five colored ability does not allow you to play the cards on your opponents turn, unless they are instants or have flash.
So if I read that thread right, they flat out nerfed the **** out of splice. Splice is a niche mechanic with the only thing cool about about it is now gone. Way to go Wizards.
I posted in the other thread as well, but according to Eli the "nerf" does not seem to be intentional. Eli's response is here:
As I said in the other thread, I am not convinced this was intentional if it does actually work this way where it is no longer copied.
Yeah, after looking it your link, plus this one here seems to indicate that, yes, storm + splice works and the copies will make golem tokens or draw cards, depending on the splice spell used.
My problem with buying from local stores is the fact that they ALL base their prices on those very same online retailers who do these profiteering tactics.
Run Bedlam with Marisi, so that no one can block while your goading everybody's boardstate.
