  • posted a message on Looking for traditional Chinese cards.. where do I get them?
I didn't think they printed in Traditional Chinese anymore; I thought that stopped back in Mirrodin block. I'd be interested to find out if I'm mistaken though.

Hit me like a brick when I saw that in a couple days, William Shatner turns 80. Seriously? Does this come as a shock to anyone else? I'd have guessed MAYBE 70, based on what I know of his early acting. Got to grant the guy, he's holding on pretty well for his age.

Anyone ever play this game? I've been a big fan of Fluxx for years, and this looks like it would be somewhat similar. My concern is that it will be too simplistic, and really just not involved enough to entertain through repeated play.

There you go. I knew it was one of the top guys here.

Back on topic, I don't think I've seen one that was the whole bottom border since about Onslaught block. I was thinking they'd gotten better at preventing it. Guess not.

Wow. It's interesting to note that until boinknet's post, each answer was different. 10 different walkers in 10 answers. I think that shows that the balance of the walkers is appropriate in terms of flavor and appeal.

Also of note is that JtMS has not yet been anyone's choice. Of course he does show that the balance of the walkers is NOT appropriate in terms of power.

There is someone on here that collects these ... I wish I could remember who. To most people this is a damaged card, and holds little if any value. But some people do have interest in them. This is really bugging me ... someone has in their signature, in big bold letters "I collect crimped cards." ... honestly don't remember who though.

The thing with un/commons is that people do need them, and they can be hard to trade for in person as most people don't carry them (with some obvious exceptions of higher value cards.) So their primary option is to go to a site and pick them up, often for .50-1.00 each for cards that shouldn't be that expensive, plus shipping. Their second option is to come on here and try to trade for them, hopefully in larger volumes.
I keep a couple 7k boxes of "notable" un/commons for just this reason, in addition to the ones I list in my thread. I'm in no rush with them, and every so often a trade comes along where I'll trade a couple dozen or a couple hundred cards out of that box for a few mid-value cards ($2-$5) ... more often than not those cards go back into my trade binder, but essentially for the cost of shipping I've added those outright.
Also of note is that the vast majority of those "notable" un/commons came from when I was buying and selling a lot of bulk, and they typically cost me about 6/10 of a cent each, and the sorting is already done on them so pulling doesn't require much time.

Long story short, I think it's worth it, if your situation allows, to have some available for trade, but you can't view it as a great asset to your trade binder. I would keep the highest value (more than $1 by SCG) in a binder, and go from there.

  • posted a message on I wanna name my son Jace.
I also see nothing wrong with the name Jace. I think a lot of users on here are teenagers who have Magic cards on as blinders, and can't see the real world applications. Bar MtG from your thoughts and it's really a pretty cool name.

On a tangent, about a year ago I ran into a buddy of mine from when I used to play more actively; his daughter was born a few months after mine and I hadn't seen him since about 5 months into his pregnancy. So I got to talking to him, and he said they named her Leia. I looked at him for a few seconds, and he said "Yes, THAT Leia." Classic.

I've always like Tezz the Seeker ... probably just because he enables goofy combos for me. I also look forward to a G/U walker, for the same reason.

You can assign 1 damage to each of 3 of the blocking creatures. There is no "order" in which your opponent blocks. That 1 damage to each should be lethal.

Either Yavimaya Elder or Krosan Tusker I think, for a spot decision. I love having card draw in green, and I'm all about utility.

    Yavimaya Elder
    Birds of Paradise
    Eternal Witness

    Gaea's Liege
    Survival of the Fittest
    Channel
    Berserk
and 6 other cards that aren't Tarmogoyf

There could be potential for similar things to work the way he thinks; if it was worded

"pay 1 life, sac: search for a land.

when ~ goes to graveyard, shuffle your library."

Then you would still shuffle, as it's not part of the activated ability that was countered. Obviously that an unprintable wording, but you get what I mean I'm sure.

He was wrong. Shuffling is part of the activated ability, which is countered by Stifle.

Not precisely what you've described, but Power Conduit can have a somewhat similar effect.
