Yeah, you're definitely going to have a hard time keeping your deck to standard only and still having it be fun and thematic, and you're missing out on some interesting synergies.

You'll probably want to look for cards that, as Cypher said, synergize with Dash: Cards like Spirit Bonds and Ogre Battledriver that give your creatures bonus ETB effects are nice. Extractor Demon and Outpost Siege have effects when creatures leave the battlefield, which gives Dash extra oomph. Changeling Berserker, Changeling Hero and Tawnos's Coffin let you save your Dash creatures by temporarily removing them from the board before end step. Urabrask the Hidden makes everyone equally speedy and stops counterattacks by your opponent's hasty creatures, cards like Blind Obedience have the same effect. Depending on how deep you want to go into the Dash theme, Ward of Bones can turn a sparse board on your end into an annoyance for your opponents.

If you're going with Alesha as your general, Avalanche Riders, Karmic Guide and Stingscourger provide useful, recurrable ETB effects and Echo gives them a similar hit and run flavor to Dash. Mentor of the Meek and Tethmos High Priest share Alesha's love for little creatures, Mentor is a must-have in this deck in particular.

How serious business is your playgroup? If any deck justifies Rocket-Powered Turbo Slug it's this one.

Very very cool list - came across this in the database because my boyfriend was thinking of building Opal-Eye enchantress as an unusual mono-white political deck for a potential Star "league" we might set up with some friends. I'm currently planning a Voltron EDH and this's given me a couple good considerations there too.

I have some suggestions of cards to use or consider using:

Runed Halo - a less threatening, more political Nevermore for generals and other dangerous cards (Stigma Lasher, Infect stuff, combo pieces). If the other players don't see you as a threat due to your oddball general this is liable to stick around longer. Probably more useful early-game when you don't have a large or indestructible pariah.

Prison Term - potentially worth a try in place of Cage of Hands or Forced Worship because of the additional restriction of activated abilities, but it depends on the prevalence of annoying activateds in your meta.

Mass Calcify and/or Sunscour - interesting alternative boardwipes, Calcify could be used over Winds of Rath if the amount of white in your meta is low. And personally, I just have a huge soft spot for as an emergency boardwipe nobody's expecting - works so nicely with the Orrery. Nobody expects a thing.

Blind Obedience - you mention your deck works very well by surprising your opponents with incremental damage, and I love Extort for that, not to mention the bonus lifegain is great with Well of Lost Dreams and the like. Blind Obedience is just a good overall pillowfort card as well.

Heliod, God of the Sun Surprised you're not running this guy. Being monocolor keeps your devotion high and even without that he poops out enchantment creatures and gives your board vigilance, if he's online he's a big indestructible body to slap Pariah or other nasty stuff on.

Umbral Mantle - Depending on how often you utilize Opal-eye's ability, I could see this being extremely useful since it can also be used to pump them or other tap creatures like your Valkyrie.

Beloved Chaplain, Soltari Monk, Soltari Priest - possible alternatives to your other low cost protection creatures.

Shield of Kaldra, Magebane Armor - More "Can't touch this" gear. The former is obviously more useful but Magebane is an interesting option regardless.

Also a couple utility lands I run in my monowhite pillowfort/lifegain EDH: Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx to make a buttload of white if you need it, Miren, the Moaning Well for lifegain and to rescue creatures that might be exiled or tucked, Winding Canyons for instant speed fun.

And finally a question - Why'd you take out Enlightened Tutor while keeping Steelshaper's Gift?? I think the ability to search out the Orrery, Staff, Well, Mind's Eye, etc would make up for the single lost draw but YMMV.

  • posted a message on Help With a VERY Stale EDH Meta?
I think the answer is as others have said - don't play EDH as an FNM format. There's likely other players who have the same feelings about the current meta as you who might want to organize a league using a points system on another day of the week. This is what the LGS I play at does and it works out pretty well, everyone who enters gets a pack and the prizes are determined by points and are usually weird stuff like store t-shirts, pop! figurines or foils of unusual cards. IE not typically something the ubercompetitive Spike is going to go nuts over.

If you want to keep playing in FNM EDH, one thing I've seen some more considerate Spikes do when they're the only one of their kind at the table is to "ascend" out of the game when they go infinite, counting the game as their win, removing themselves from the board and returning the gamestate to how it was pre-combo. Not an ideal solution, but it gives everyone a chance to actually play out the game.
