I think she'll be the to-go-to card for any WG Ramp-based deck. I think in that vein, WG only really has Chorus of the Conclave and that WG God whose name I forget, with all the other WG generals filling different niches. The Chorus also doesn't enable ramp, it just gives you a mana outlet, and the God comes down a fair bit later and doesn't allow as explosive a play as Selvala will.

The WG goddess is Karametra. And yeah, she comes down fairly slow, but once she gets going, you can pull every land out of your deck and draw nothing but spells. Then lose to Armageddon, but my play group luckily frowns on mass land destruction. Wink

I do like this new legend, but she's a bit too "group huggy" for me to want to make her a commander. I'll gladly put her in my existing deck though. I don't mind giving my opponents a few extra cards. I just don't want to be doing it all game as part of my strategy.

I think Drainu, Vela with ninjas, or Wydwen would all be pretty cool. Even something silly like Lazav shape-shifter tribal would be fun. But I'm gonna stick with my last vote and go with Wydwen. Because fairies are cool.

I think fairies would be pretty cool, but Oona's been done and I've never seen a Wydwen build. Let's try that!

It's too bad all split cards are gold, since he works decently well with them, checking either side.

Well, not ALL split cards are gold. Boom//Bust, Dead//Gone, and Rough//Tumble are all mono-colored. ...Actually, they're all red. Why are all the mono-colored split cards red?

Its actually when someone clones Sphinx and turns it into 2 Enter the Infinites immediately on the next draw. This basically turns it into a 2 player game.

I don't know about anyone else, but my play group tends to maintain a truce whenever two sphinxes are out not to draw off each others' sphinx triggers. The card is still very very good in that case, but not absolutely game-breaking.

Kruphix is... weird. On the one hand, his effect is not what I was expecting and I generally like my commanders to do interesting, proactive things instead of just being passive. On the other hand, it is a powerful effect and I'm not sure what I was expecting from him in the first place. In any case, he will probably go into any deck with green and blue in it for me. He may not scream "I should be a commander" to me, but I like him anyway.

I suspect Kruphix will turn out a bit like the GW god - technically great value but providing ramp after you are done ramping. Cards like Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Omnath, Locus of Mana are busted because they come down early and advance you to the mid-game and late-game while your opponents are struggling to find a fourth land.

I don't know about that. I just built a Karametra deck and it's gotten pretty big in both games I've played with it. There's a lot you can do with so much mana and landfall triggers.

Arabian Nights Aladdin's Lamp is where it's at. Instant 55/55 creature!

Wait, what? I don't understand. How does it make Aladdin's Lamp a 55/55? The lamp is only CMC 10, so shouldn't it become a 10/10?

I really want to play Ajani, get him into Ult range, then play Cradle of Vitality or Sunbond or Sanguine Bond and watch everybody's faces. Really, just any card that keys off amount of life gained should do something amazing when the number is 100.

Something noteable is that he will dig for bestow creatures you might run in an Uril or Krond deck that aura tutors will not grab, though not sure how popular/effective bestow is in Commander.

Hi Forgotten Ancient. Hi Doubling Season/Gilder Bairn/Vorel of the Hull Clade. What's that? Infinite Extra turns? You don't say!

It will take a bit more to get infinite turns out of the guy, fortunately. The ability is worded to remove all counters, then take an extra turn for every five that you removed. You'll need an extra bit to get counters on the Sage again before you can activate the doublers on it again.

That's not to say that it probably wouldn't be difficult to make him straight busted. I could see him easily getting to a point where people are sitting around bored for a good long while. :p

Ah, I think I see the problem. You opened Chromanticore and didn't even try to run it. Clearly, the Gods were displeased by this. :p

In all seriousness though, I'm not very good with blue/black, but it looks like you might have tried picking up and running a few more targeting effects if you want to run Wavecrash Triton. In my experience, you either need to run hard removal (Asphyxiate, Sip of Hemlock, etc) for the biggest threats and be able to hold off the smaller ones, or enough soft/temporary removal (Wavecrash Triton, Sudden Storm, Griptide, etc) to hold off the opposing threats long enough to get in with your attackers repeatedly. While the former works just as well in small quantities as in large, the latter seems to work much better the more you have of it and the more you can take advantage of it with attacking creatures. Otherwise, the threat inevitably comes back again.

Also, it is important to keep in mind that sometimes, you just get unlucky. I've seen decks that look insanely good do horribly just because of some random mistakes or some combination of their opponents getting lucky and them getting unlucky. Best to just try again and keep having fun. Smile
