We played it here for a month or so, in addition to other EDH games, then we stopped. Currently looking at Pauper as an alternative for when were looking for a change of pace.
Bought four packs. "Highlights" include Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, Wildfire, Surgical Extraction, and Blinkmoth Nexus... So yeah, they aren't all grand. And this is all I'm buying of MM2015. Which sucks because two years ago, our local shop would only sell four packs per person and I would have liked to have bought more. This year we have no limits. The store owner said he had quite a few people that said they wanted a box, but pulled out after the full spoiler hit.
OP: Objectively, Edric is by far the more powerful of the two options. I agree with arrogantAxolotl that branching away from blue is probably a good idea since all of your decks run blue and doing so has a pretty significant effect on the way to build and play a deck. Ghave, Guru of Spores is a more powerful "+1/+1 counters matter" commander (if power is especially important to you--I don't know if it is) but I think Daghatar is the option of the two that will give you the most refreshing experience.
Thanks for the input! Power-level doesn't really matter to me. I've got decks at all levels and play different decks based on the level at the table.
I'm looking to build a new deck for a different commander/style than the above. Every color is represented, with the exception of green. So, I'd like a G/X commander.
I've narrowed it down to the two above. My meta is pretty friendly to all deck levels, power wise. I'm thinking the Daghatar to be a "+1/+1 tokens matter" deck and Edric will be weenies with evasion. Be my tie-breaker!
I'm actually relieved by this news. Some colors clearly have a spot for an older famous planeswalker, but others would be a stretch. Red for example. I love the character of Jaya Ballard, but her card is essentially a planeswalker and her traits have been LARGELY subsumed by Chandra Nalaar. Who else would be good in the red slot? White has an obvious card in Serra, however I don't know if that means that she'll be printed. It seems that Serra was on a different power level than Teferi. And green could easily be Freyalise, but again power level could be an issue here.
Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing new planeswalkers.
Personally, I really liked how Daxos of Meletis was portrayed, I think it matches his card abilities well.
He is an oracle for Heliod that can always see/hear all of Nyx, day and night. Plus he is constantly training his martial skills. I thought that translated well to his card abilities... Daxos can see things others cannot and use that knowledge to his advantage. His constant martial training allows him an advantage on the battlefield. I know many posited that he was an Odysseus card, but I don't think that was really the case from any official source.

I currently have a stable of commanders that contains:
Dragonlord Ojutai - Voltron
Teferi, Temporal Archmage - Superfriends
Muzzio, Visionary Architect - Big stompy artifacts
Nekusar, the Mindrazer - Standard Wheels
