"And then you kill it with fire from a good, old-fashioned, American-made M1A1 flamethrower, a fine weapon responsible for killing many Nazis in the actual World War II."
Glorifying the killing of people is cool now, apparently - just don't make fun of cosplayers.
Dark Confidant does nothing the turn it comes down. Goyf does nothing. Tracker does something minorly impactful sometimes. Ooze does something impactful sometimes. Kalitas does something impactful sometimes.
The only permanent in this deck that immediately has an impact on the game state is Liliana, and I think the deck would be absolutely unplayable without her.
Grudge comes in against artifact decks, such as Whir and Affinity.
Apostle's Blessing comes in against decks that have a lot of removal for your creatures, such as The Rock, and decks that have a lot of board presence that you need to dodge, such as Humans.
Collective Brutality comes in against combo-based decks, such as Ad Nauseam, and is an all-star against Burn as all three modes are relevant.
Fatal Push comes in against decks that run creatures which demand an immediate answer, such as The Rock, Phoenix, and Humans.
Inquisition of Kozilek comes in against decks where you need additional discard alongside Thoughtseize, such as Ad Nauseam, Storm, Amulet (debatable), etc.
Sure would be helpful if you posted the actual list.
But there's still no need for an edict effect in Modern. There's no True-Name Nemesis or Sneak and Show here and when we do need an edict effect, LOTV has it covered. There's simply no room for a card like that. What would you cut for it in Jund? Push, Decay, KCommand? Never.
Don't see any way we'd want Arcanist in a Shadow shell whatsoever. Same for Rampage, Dreadbore is better and sees no play either.
What would a rule like that look like, in your opinion?
That just looks so much worse than Grim Flayer.
So you can't hit Phoenix at all?
Yes it did. The KCI ban was aimed solely at taking out KCI and the braindead gameplay it promoted. This is exactly why Wizards banned it and they weren't ambiguous about it at all. Why keep bringing it up?
