"And then you kill it with fire from a good, old-fashioned, American-made M1A1 flamethrower, a fine weapon responsible for killing many Nazis in the actual World War II."
Glorifying the killing of people is cool now, apparently - just don't make fun of cosplayers.
A Bauble, a Looting, an Inquisition, a Stub.. plenty of cards that can come out at 1 copy each without undermining the core of the deck.
I agree wholeheartedly, you can't autopilot through Shadow whatsoever. Not saying the BGx archetype is exactly flowchart Magic like Scapeshift or Tron but the deck somewhat plays itself at a basic level.
After all, when in doubt...
Yeah, and with Daze and FOW legal also. Let's not nitpick here.
Played a 16-person tournament yesterday, no Dredge, no Phoenix, no GDS, one Burn. We had Infect, U Tron, Scapeshift, old school Affinity with blue, The Rack.. I enjoy the format but I'm aware that I'm in a bubble of sorts. I probably wouldn't be so chuffed if I had to face seven Phoenix decks in a row at a PPTQ or GP. Oh well.
Sticking with 2 Flayer, 2 Tarfire, 3 Stub and 2 Delay for the weeks ahead. This deck still has serious legs as far as I'm concerned. I went back to GDS for a minute and ran into the exact same issues and frustrations i always did. I just don't see the point.
What a pile of nonsense, Looting is ok at best in GDS and when it reigned supreme, nobody even played a single copy.
Anything that gives you free mana is not safe.
SCG Open Syracuse last week had 656 players. How is that a dead format?
So you can play Traverse Shadow and beat up all those degenerate decks currently in the format, then when BGx and UWx come back you can transition back into the former and have fun the old-fashioned way?
