I played from early '95 until fall '02 when I quit because I left for college and didn't have the funds or buddies to play with. I just got back in about two years ago. I had no intention of playing again, but a new shop opened up in town and the store owner talked me into playing a draft that night. After playing that one tournament, like a drug, I was hooked. I started going back to draft every Friday, but I wasn't getting enough to build a good standard deck so I purchased a case of every set in standard. From there I've been actively obsessive over the game dipping into every format and meta available. I'd say it took me about 6 months or so to become fully acclimated to the changes in the game since I left. The biggest help for me actually came when I began playing EDH. That caught me up on every aspect of the game I missed during my 10 year hiatus.
Sarkhan will be willingly possessed by a dragon spirit in the past and begin a metamorphosis. Then, in the altered timeline, he will fully transform into a dragon or otherwise cool amalgamation, lead the other dragons to destroy the warlords and dominate the land, and guide them towards an eventual clash with Bolas that devestates the plane even more than before and leaves it desolate and devoid of life. Nothing like introducing then razing a plane in one fell block.
Here is an article on a few things, written in 2012. Not sure what is still valid. Kinda want one of those Spellground mats...
Well, hell, I threw away three of those 1995 binders just a few years ago. They were falling apart, but by that article it seems as though they still might have fetched a penny.
I play it in my Taniwha deck filled with all the big, expensive leviathans and krakens. There are some good things to drop in on the cheap (such as Koz), but nothing seems to evoke more snickers than a sniped in Polar Kraken.
It's one of my favorite cards. I run it in my Taniwha and his Leviathan, Kraken, Octopus, and Serpent friends with drawbacks deck. I have to mortgage the islands in my deck to cast anything, so having prejudice is a nice way to slow down the competition in order to make my payments. And everyone hates it.
As an OCD collector my question is are they going to have their original borders and copyright dates or will either of those be updated? If they update either or both, then both the original prints and this new print will be required for collection purposes. I'll pick this set up regardless, but it's a curiosity since it will affect whether or not new additions are made to the binder.
