I spelled it "Winnie" so it'd be clear that it's the name of his girlfriend (while still being a horse pun). To bad I had already made the Nay/Neigh pun.

Hemlock - "I'll kick your butts by the dozen" - The way I'm reading that, it usually won't have much effect other than letting you assign all damage to each creature (combine with trample and that's scary) and a few things like not turning on Rampage (which tends to pop back up in Un-sets because it's funny). But for a 2 mana instant that you can play after blocks, that's scary. As a sorcery this could go up to +4/+4 and still be pretty solid.

doomfish - "Here Fifi!" - It is weird how swingy it is, since it's either a pretty crappy 3/3 for 4 or a totally awesome free 3/3. And I don't really see the flavor behind it popping into play after replacing another token. Seems like it might have made more sense if it was able to replace some other token with a 3/3 token.

Subject16 - "I Pity Thy Sorry Art!" - Solid effect, not terribly original but clean and straightforward. Tie to the superhero is obvious.

Raptorchan - "Clearrr..." / "...Prrrop!" - Two solid, clean effects that make sense and are strong flavorfully.

master_of_the_universe - "Let's Make a Splash!" -That's a very splashy effect indeed. Actually playble in regular Magic, fits well with the legend, and creates interesting board states.

netn10 - "Let's Get Dirty" - "All the cards", even in an Un-Set, is really vague. Like, the ones in hands and libraries too? If so, that's going to kil every player every time. Unless they bring tongs. And do cards go back to the zone they were in before?

void_nothing - "I've Made Some Script Revisions!" - "Abilties change" is pretty vague, but probably not too vague for Un-sets. Seems pretty well balanced, since you'd have to build a deck around it to make it scary.

Koopa - Renin, Savior of Species: I don't see that strong of a connection to the inspiration card, really, and it isn't funny at all, which seriously hurts in an un-set challenge.

    Cardz5000 - No show

Hemlock - McBallard, Who Keeps Coming Back for More: Interesting in how it plays with the inspiration card, but it is very busy in a way that isn't really funny or necessary feeling.

doomfish - Neera, Propelled Penguin: A penguin with a propeller is funny. One that summons tokens is one that I don't fully get flavor-wise, but it's a solid mechanic for an un-set built to take advantage of cards like it.

Subject16 - Mark Poole, Bachelor of Arts: This is the kind of reference I'd expect to see on an un-card, and it has mechanics that work well in un-sets.

Raptorchan - Boorse, Corpse Bomb: Don't really see the need for that keyword ability, since it seems very narrow. But a solid design generally.

  • posted a message on CCL July, Round 1: Tis the Gift to Be Simple
Legend - Scrying Pool - Probably a bit on the weaker side unless there are a lot of enchantment synergies, in which case it might be very powerful. A clean application, and the fact that scry inherently has dimishing returns in multiples makes it not too scary to print at common.

thesedaiv - Basic Training: Effects that pump up multiple creatures tend to be game-changing, and that's why they don't tend to pop up at common a lot. Also, this is very swingy because it doesn't do anything for non-vigilant creatures. It ends up requiring a pretty good amount of mental processing for a common.

Gerrard's Mom - Anarchists' Graffiti: This is closer to Orcish Oriflame than it looks at first since you always get to chose the creature that'll produce the worst combat math for the opponent. Simple, clean mechanics, and easy to build around and synergize with.

netn10 - Seal of Savagery: Simple, clean, and to the point. Doesn't break a ton of creative ground, but common is generally not the best place to be trying that anyway.

Cardz5000 - Aspect of Spring: It's either a less-reliable Rampant Growth or a less reliable Explosive Vegetation, but in both cases still reliable enough to be worth playing, and the versitility is very useful. Combine in synergies with enchantments and you've got a card that's probably complex and powerful enough to be uncommon. Creative reuse of old mechanics and solid construction, though.

Koopa - Homeland Advantage: It is certainly simple enough to be a commmon, but this is actually a realy game-changing effect of the sort that feels bigger than what you'd normally see at common, especially considering it is stackable. The ability to build combos and synergies around it seems like it should limit the effect to uncommon or rare. But solidly priced and constructed.
