Did Saffi get the boot? I haven't played the deck in a while and I just got one in the mail, and with the chaos of finals I honestly don't remember if it was for this deck or not. I'm readjusting to your list, I picked up my last duals recently and a few other pieces/ neat alt art foils so I think I'm just gonna run as close to your list as possible. I also want to test Kaya, Ghost Assassin. I've changed Queen Marchesa over to partial stax and the games where that became the forefront she just closed games or was such great mid-range power. She can flick a few useful things to dodge a wipe and honestly imo one the best walkers out post land wipe. I know she doesn't have much of a chance here, but what she did would go really well here. I'll have a dead slot reguardless so I'll probably float around cards you test.
I voted for Thras b/c I think it's where to go with the best version of the deck. However, I think that may involve cutting some of the reanimator aspects. So, if we want to stay entirely reanimator, with the redundancy in fatties and the reanimation I think Tasigur is best. However, looking at it from a perspective of the deck evolving to the strongest it can be, Thras is the way to go. I have a feeling he'll be a real t1 if the right builds show up.
Living Plane is an auto-include in my builds. I actually just had it sweep a table after the dreaded Cyclonic Rift. Sure you gotta get a good amount of lands out first and stack counters, but that really isn't hard even by midgame. It was pretty cool to pay four mana and turn on like 90+ power. I need to really solidify the highlights of everything I've said over the year in case you can mine any worthy info.
Well deserved! Still trying to slap together my artifact build. It's pretty rough to focus on any one thing with the new commanders out.
Slightly related, Maz in both Atraxa and Sakisa has been awesome. He Alesha, who Smiles at Death, and Sun Titan with some other creatures sprinkled in with a sac outlet was one of the funnest engines I've ever got going.
What made you decide Ravos over Tymna? I've been thinking some up similar but a bit less reanimation in exhcange for inf mana combos, but I'm really thinking she's a better slot in just because I can see a few more windows to trigger her draw than to ever really get value from Ravos because if it's anything worthwhile it's pretty telegraphed. Is a flying chump blocker worth it when preparing for a general competitive meta? I haven't seen Kaliaa in a long time and I dont recall protecting myself did me much good.
I actually meant in reguards to the precon and upgrading it. Etbs are pretty clutch in EDH, and Grave Titan etbs are pretty strong with the deck's theme. The repeatable tutoring is an awesome and it seems the best direction is cutting a lot of the higher end spells for midrange creatures that somehow generate value.
I think the two drop creatures for ramp are the right idea in the precon. I think the deck leans a bit towards Alesha, Who Smiles at Death and begs for a Sun Titan with a lot of its value, and that's what I kind of leaned as I start to modify mine. I think the Sunforger Package needs to control pretty much every instant and sorcery in the deck, and Birthing Pod is a nice fit. These decks are honestly primed for these casual competitive metas- I've been running a legendary theme around Odric, Lunarch Marshal and it's been a ton of fun. Lots of creatures like Drana, Liberator of Malakir and Gisela, the Broken Blade or Sword of Vengeance to back the equipment/tutor equipment package have made it a ton of fun and pretty threatening.
Repercussion is something I'd like to test as well as the Trumpet, although on the latter we're not the strongest attackers. I thought about mirrorweave but I'm running it as a win-con for another deck. When that idea dies out it may go in. So far in the games I've goldfished it should be pretty successful. I think it's going to be my first deck I demand house rule sideboard, just so I can avoid some decks being far less taxed/benefits more from the effects. I'm terrified to fight again an attrition deck but I think most of my friends agreed Prossh is a little too much for casual games.
Awakening + Perplexing Chimera + Homeward Path is also a pretty neat little thing we can assemble. Obv we're not trying to let, let alone go with such an abusive combo, but the fact we can is pretty cool.
I prefer to go without them since they only benefit two players. They sure could come in, but for now the value is a bit too bland, I'd prefer my advantages to come with the land theme, although I do like the Phantasm since it can be targeted by Sun Titan. My other issue is Grip of Chaos, I've been trying to avoid too many cards that actually need me to target specifically for just emergency situations.
Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis didn't get much attention during the 2016 release. Nor was there much exploration beyond the core of the precon- let's be honest it's easily one of the best put together.
Still under maintenance. Big add lately was house ruled Wish cards with sideboard. The tutoring is political, coming down to a vote rather than just my desicion. It opened a lot of space and kind of ensures games go a lot more smoothly. Sideboard is broad enough where whichever wish you get can grab something related to whatever is going on. Coming soon.
I'm slotting up something similar when the time comes too. I think this is really exciting because it's going to be a super meta/budget adjustable style. The sunforger package is cheap and powerful and hate bears/aggro has tons of options. I have a few I know aren't here as well as some here I didn't have. I don't think she's the best, but null blue seems its the most exciting to build. My only issue is Sunforger is the guiding card for all my lists that can run it...
Edit: earlier comments on Eldrazi DIsplacer I'm desperate to keep mine in. I'm going to try filter/pain lands, without w/e color combo ends up the weakest. With four colors we end up with a lot of them, and personally if I'm running a deck like this taking 1 damage off tapping lands more frequently probably wont outrace the speed we're coming at the table with.
This is exactly what I've been brewing and I'm excited to have found a tuned list. Sunforger has been a pet project of mine for a while, it was great in Queen Marchesa but without Mirrorweave to offer a finisher, it was kind of just a bag of tricks.
Is it worth having Dromar's Charm, counterflux and Render Silent? I see it's competetive casual, so I'm curious if this is kind of a draw back on power not running some counters you'd be happier drawing, or if with everything you have here activating it multiple times is no issue late game. Either way, sign me up, these are def the four colors to run Sunforger, and I think this Partner team may be a step up from Breya. She wins with infinite mana/best egg colors so I feel like down the road it'll be great to not even be associated with the idea.
