Just discovering this deck! looks very cool
Mishra's Bauble + gitaxian probe are really strong with Monastery Mentor.
And what about Brimaz in those lists?
I wanted to built a Grixis delver deck but now.. i'm not sure anymore^^
What are the advantages of this deck over a grixis with lot of 2 for 1 ?

discard a card. Search your library for a planeswalker card and put it in you hand. -

And the best thing is that the price for the expensive Cards like Voice of Resurgence have fallen! Magic shouldn´t be so expensive!
So in my opinion it was a good thing to ban the Pod.
Says the dude with the 200$ vanilla beater. If you are trying to taunt people, please stop. Its really not nice. -

germanturkey posted a message on [[Official]] Current Modern Banlist Discussion (7/14/2014 - 1/19/2015)yeah, i don't think many people know what made caw so dominant in its day. i don't blame them, as zen/som standard was a long time ago and a lot of people who play now didn't play then. it wasn't just jace. it wasn't just stoneforge with swords (batterskull was just icing). it was:Posted in: Modern Archives
Jace + squadron hawk
Jace + extra drawn swords + stoneforge
Jace + Fetches
Stoneforge + swords
swords + squadron hawks
ponder/preordain + all the aforementioned cards
the whole deck purred like a Koenigsegg Agera. they were completely on point when they said the deck played like a legacy deck in that standard. in direct contrast, jund in ala/zen standard played like a H2, barreling over everything in its path.
now, that said, i'd still love for them to unban stoneforge. in fact, i'd love for them to unleash caw on the format, despite the fact i don't have jaces. i don't think it'd take over the format. in fact, its more likely stoneforge spawns an abomination of a deck. however, caw itself would dramatically raise the skill ceiling of the format, which has dropped since the rise of UR delver. but that's another discussion.
i would also not like to see something banned from pod. despite not playing it, it is basically the original "original" deck of modern. other decks at the start of the format were powered up standard decks, and while pod had a standard iteration as well, melira pod was a drastic departure from that deck. it is near and dear to my heart because it reminds me of a time in modern where many more things worked than do now. what is interesting though, is that the pod decks now are sometimes shifting closer to its standard form, i.e. value upon value upon value. -

To make a simple point, there is no Magic: The Gathering Dictionary, so most terms are generalized by communities as a whole barring they concur with similar scientific and/or sports related definitions.
Other than that, I am lost at sea to where this conversation started nosediving into a completely new thread.
Let's start off with some general consensus;
Jeskai Ascendancy, Dig Through Time, and Treasure Cruise are the most debated within this thread for potential banning - even with the format just receiving these cards.
Bloodbraid Elf, Golgari Grave-Troll, Ancestral Vision, Sword of the Meek, Ponder, Preordain are a list of cards that are considered for unbanning or unbanning with the conditions that other cards are banned.
Wizards definitely monitors forums like MTGSally guys, if we make a strong debate for something perhaps that could help influence the love we have for this format.
Hear, hear.
I've been thinking about the possibility of WotC banning Khans cards with the approaching announcement and I still can't say for sure what course of action they will take, but I have my opinions. Of the three most discussed cards, Jeskai Ascendancy, Dig Through Time, and Treasure Cruise, I think only two need serious consideration for banning. DTT is a very powerful card, but it just doesn't generate enough card advantage to be degenerate. Additionally, it is not easily splashable. With that in mind let's discuss the real culprits.
Jeskai Ascendancy. 3 mana, 3 color enchantment that needs mana-producing creatures and cheap card draw to combo off. It can also be used just for value, like the Standard tokens deck, but that's not the problem. With the right draw it is capable of comboing off before turn 4 and takes advantage of the other new broken toy Treasure Cruise, as well or better than any deck but we'll get to that card soon. Because the combo is reliant on creatures it is vulnerable to the most played card in modern, Lightning Bolt. Additionally, the majority of cheap card draw spells that enable consistency in older formats, Ponder, Brainstorm, Mental Note, etc. are not legal in Modern. Because of this, I think there is ample hate available, some of which is incidental and relevant against other top decks, such as Abrupt Decay, Qasali Pridemage, Reclamation Sage, Anger of the Gods, etc.
Verdict: Don't Ban, but keep in mind as a reason to not allow Ponder and Preordain when they are inevitably brought up in the future.
Treasure Cruise. 1-8 mana, 1 color sorcery that draws three cards. Sounds pretty innocuous but there is a hitch. Delve. Because the natural tendency of Modern is to run an assortment of fetch lands and early interaction, the cost of filling up your graveyard in order to maximize the delve cost reduction isn't much of a cost at all, but more just a happy coincidence. Of course, any deck that plans on running TC will also increase their number of fetch lands and early cards in order to play this card early and often. Let's take a step back for a second though, and remember that we previously mentioned that Ponder and Preordain are banned in Modern. These cards are banned because of the consistency they afford. TC has not only surpassed the allowed Modern president of adding consistency but combines that with incredible card advantage. On top of that, there aren't (m)any easy ways to hate on TC that are also good by themselves against other decks.
Verdict: Ban. It's an interesting card, and fun to cast, but ultimately broken and one of few cards in recent memory I would label as a mistake.
edit: Also, there is no reason to have Bloodbraid Elf banned after Siege Rhino has been printed. -

Moxnix posted a message on [[Official]] General Discussion of the Official Multiplayer BanlistTaken seriously by who we are playing a varient on a children's card game. Your a definitions guy go google compeition or competitive and tell me if you find. I don't have to "pretend" anything we all try to win within a set of rules in a game as hard as we can that sir IS competition. You played wow right? What your saying is like saying hey bro your 3k rating in 2s arena don't count blizzard put theount rewards in 3s so if you don't play 3s your not pvping . Same issue pvp = player vs player not 3s arena. Competition in magic does not = go play legacy.Posted in: Commander Rules Discussion Forum -

Maybe the lot of you are so pessimistic that you think if cards are able to be played then anti-social dimwits will ruin any game. Well I'll be the one to break it to you then. Jerks are going to be jerks regardless of a banlist.
My friends won't play dick cards because they know I just won't join that type of game if i'm not in the mood. Funny what a little communication does for a social format. But hey, I question the social capabilities of a lot of people that frequent mtg forums so maybe you're right and we need to police anti-social babies.
And who are you to say players trying to find the quickest and most effective way to win are being "anti-social babies"? If there was no ban list, every person I know would run every banned card. Not because they're dicks, but because they want to win. The point of a banlist is to police power level, not social interactions.
Pro-tip: If you want to play to win you should stick to a format that is balanced around that goal.
People who are trying to play competitive calvinball don't really want competition. They want to win without playing. Sorry friends, that's not what a game is.
Everytime you say something like this I scratch my head . Can you really not wrap your head around the idea people enjoy playing FFA with a competitive mindset? Your comparison to calvin ball is laughable at best even more so due to the part you tacked on the end. It's about equally dumb as me going " u don't play real
Edh you play 1:1 cuz ur brain can't handle teh multiplayerz." . Look
At starcraft 2 that game failed because despite being very competitive it was no fun at all to slam the keys on your keyboard so fast your about have a heart attack and one misclick and your gone. Multi edh is fun for some people , some of those people like to play to win. Thus compeitive edh but I do agree that groups like that should adopt a personal banlist. -

jakalova posted a message on [[Competitive]] Zur Stax?Well what kind of Stax build are you going for?Posted in: Commander (EDH)
Resource Denial: Armageddon, Smokestack, Braids, Cabal Minion
Lockout: Stasis, Static Orb, Tanglewire
Soulcrusher: Oppression, the Abyss, Nether Void
Each Stax player has a different approach, I prefer the all in route personally. I had a Zur Stax deck built and I enjoyed playing it, I learned a lot about the game and how to manipulate the stack and when to do certain things. My list for it is still in my sig if you want inspiration. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
