Wow! Hi PurpleD! It's great to see you again. I'm glad to see you're moving up and out in your life, though I am sorry to hear about the recent breakup. The Coffeehouse has changed but we all still poke it and keep in touch (especially via facebook) so you're welcome to come back!

As for Disegreth.. I'd nearly forgotten about it. I'd love to either re-do it (cutting out the... questionable content) or pick it back up. I'd also like to re-try Casings; it lost its focus and I'd like to try more freeform role-playing. I've tried it once or twice before with little success (sorry, Charm_Master but I couldn't get into character with Skye).

I got WoW for 2 months recently. I played it hardcore... it ate up a lot of my time. I was actually relieved when my subscription ran out.

I've been itching to run a game on the Pen and Paper Inn... but I want to use Microlite20...

I am currently re-hooked on Rock Band 2 as I unpack. It's fun, but I would prefer to play with a group. Otherwise I'm itching for Duels of the Planeswalkers to get released on PC... I wanna play some magic over the summer!

Looks like people have already been adding to it--a LOT. Over 600 pages of Micro d20 rules and variants.

So I've asked about it before, but I discovered Microlite20, aka d20 Lite. It condenses the d20 system down into a handful of pages of rules. It reminds me of the older days of D&D (1st edition) when it was more about filling in the rules as you went instead of having a huge reference collection of rules.

I want to run a d20 Lite game on the Inn, but I don't just want to use the rules they have there. I want to come up with Feats (some old, some new) and new races/classes. Or just discuss its potential. Anyone else like this? I can't be the only one.

I'll come up with ideas later--it's 3 in the morning here and I need to sleep. In the meantime, check out the Core Rules and the Booklets.

Half-Life 1 looks really really dated these days (1997 graphics didn't age well) but Half-Life: Source (basicallly, HL1 ported into the Source engine) is still fun. HL2 had better graphics, improved AI, a massively better physics engine, actually FUN driving sections (which are usually horrendous in FPS games), and a character model/facial acting system which still blows me away.

Still, keep an eye out for Black Mesa, which is a total remake from scratch of Half-Life 1 using HL2 graphics and immersion.

I'm of course also including Half-Life 2: Episode One and Two in this estimation.

Other honorable mentions: Left 4 Dead (1 and 2) and Bioshock (1 more than 2). Bioshock's gameplay and plot sucked me in so much I had to go to classes with 0 hours of sleep. Left 4 Dead's intuitive co-op gameplay is addicting, plus just jumping into single-player on easy mode just to mow down hordes of zombies is a GREAT stress-reliever.

The best FPS I've ever played ever? Half-Life 2, probably. Portal doesn't really count since it's a first-person puzzle game but it's one of the best games I've ever played, so... honorable mention, I guess..

Hey guys, I'm finally moved into my sister's house. And it's... well, quiet. And hot. No central AC means it can get pretty humid in here. I'm about halfway unpacked, and I have a lot left to do, but I've got internet plugged right into my ethernet (the high speed is actually slowing my computer down since it can't keep up if I download too much too quickly) and it's not a bad place at all.

I'm back in the game guys. Looks like we captured a native, wandered into a grotto, fought a serpent beast, and now are recovering in the cave/debating whether to go on?
Luna and her wolf regained their composure. This was certainly an unwelcome change of scenery, but these folks seemed mostly trustworthy--for now. "I don't mind going onward, but if the majority of the company is against me, it's fine here. We can keep watch." She offered, in case they wanted to rest. "Though as soon as we do find a better place to stay I'd prefer to build some sort of shelter," she sighed, kneeling to scruff up her companion and check on him. "There have to be more of his people around on this island." She nodded to the now-unconscious captive."

Hey guys, I'm back. Looks like I missed the death of Reynard. And we're meeting new NPCs. I'll try to jump in.
Ryttare had just finished cleaning her weapons when the knight appeared. She pulled her cowl over her face and kept silent, watching and waiting from the back of the group as he and his companions introduced themselves, as well as this new fellow, Cyrus. At Atram's snide remark, she finally steps forward.

"We waste time here," she said finally. "This is just the beginning of our trouble." She looked to Marcus, then Vaihan, then to Karah and Aris, finally to Cyrus, making note of their appearances. "The more the merrier--but we're turning from a party of warriors into a band, it seems."

She scanned the area again, craning her ears among the banter.

There's 3 expansions? I've only heard of the first two. The first is included if you pre-order it on Steam. It was only $9.99.

I don't have MW2.. it's too expensive at the moment (and military team-based shooters are not my favorite. L4D2 though...)

Haha thanks Shinobi! It's good to see you on here. Hope we'll see you again sometime.

So I dunno if anyone else saw this, but Duels of the Planeswalkers is coming to PC via Steam. If you pre-order it now, you get the 1st expansion free. Smile I already got my pre-order. Maybe I can play with you guys sometime?

Yeah, like I said before I'm moving into the house my sister moved out of. She's using it to rent out now. I get to stay there rent-free until it's "ready" for tenants in August. She left it in a very dirty messy state, but we've been cleaning it up and slowly getting me moved in.

Hey look everyone, it's Shinobi! We had never thought we'd see you again buddy Smile How are you doing?

I wish I could unload all of the recent drama on you Coffee-housers, but I'll just say that my room mate is kicking me out of my apartment and I am in the process of moving out. I didn't want to move, but them's the breaks. Luckily my sister is moving out of her place to Nashville so I'm moving in there. It's been an ordeal cleaning it up but it's ready for me to move in. Plans are for me to move in tomorrow.. at last. We would've done it today if the rain hadn't kept us from getting the furniture out. Sigh.
