I don't know if I mentioned this but I've started running two gutshot in my sideboard and I highly recommend it. I mostly added it for the infect match-up but it pulls its weight against Affinity and Abzan Company too. It has performed very well for me. Also the amount of gotcha! surprise in their face is amazing.
I just got the deck built and have only played it in two tournaments both going 3-1 lost to burn and zoo. I'm currently on U/B Jinlin build.
One idea I have though is switching the watery graves to Sunken Hollow. I understand we may at times lose serious tempo but it also feels bad sometimes to lose that two life so we end up bringing Watery Grave in tapped anyway.
Anyone else planning to play Bogles at the Invitational this weekend? I've been having issues with sideboard. I plan to play 4 Path to Exile Mainboard along with 3 Suppression field to shore up the bad match-ups and slow others down.
I think Open The Armory would be a great replacement for the enchantments we don't want two off like Spirit Mantle and Unflinching courage. It gives us the option to tutor up exactly what wee need in a given situation it is a for sure turn 4 or later card when we need evasion or life link etc to win. I will be trying two of them for sure.
Playing in the Modern Classic at the Columbus Open tomorrow going to try this sideboard:
4 Leyline Of Sanctity
3 Gaddock teeg
3 Nature's Claim
2 Melira, Sylvok Outcast
2 Stony Silence
1 Celestial Flare
Just a thing to remember with Chalice of the Void it counters all spells, not just our opponents. So Chalice on 1 shuts off Star, Sphere, Scrying, and Map.
I'm thinking with the changes around I'm going to drop Leyline from my sideboard completely for the next tournament, which will be The Classic in Columbus if I don't day 2 satndard or Regionals the week after. I think I'm going to run something like:
So Pulse of Murasa seems like a decent one of main deck or sideboard. 3 mana instant that gains us 6 life and gives us a creature back could help out against discard and living end.
Awesome on the Classic finish. Sucks about the Invi and Open though. I plan to grind out season one of the Open Series. There are a good portion of modern Opens so I will be playing Bogles ALOT! I'll likely play Mardu aggro for standard and Maverick for legacy, I may give bogles a shot in legacy just to throw people off.
One idea I have though is switching the watery graves to Sunken Hollow. I understand we may at times lose serious tempo but it also feels bad sometimes to lose that two life so we end up bringing Watery Grave in tapped anyway.
Jund 2-1
Merfolk 2-1
8Rack 1-2
Abzan CoCo 1-2
Abzan 1-2
Drop
I think that people are going to start shying away from Naya Burn. I find Boros to just be inheriantly more consistent and more powerful.
I did realize that Leyline of Sanctity helps us so much against Eldrazi which I already find to be a fine match-up.
4 Leyline Of Sanctity
3 Gaddock teeg
3 Nature's Claim
2 Melira, Sylvok Outcast
2 Stony Silence
1 Celestial Flare
I focused heavily on the badish match-ups
