It's fine. It's the type of foiling. A few of my expeditions have that 'it looks like its scuffed but it's not' look. I believe this is one of the reasons people don't like this type of foiling
Good to know, thank you. Frustrating that such a high-profile subset of cards can have such obvious flaws to them. As I said in my original post, it almost looks as thought the black border ink failed to make it all the way to the edge of the foil card stock.
I just received a Masterpiece Sol Ring that I ordered via eBay. The card was listed at NM+, but the card I received appears to have a thin, visible strip of the underlying foil material across the top border. The strip almost looks like an extension of the natural black border of the print, which made me wonder if it's a printing error. However, the strip appears non-uniform in some parts. Have you guys seen this with other Masterpiece foils? Should I request a return via eBay's Money Back Guarantee?
I'm not questioning the authenticity of the card itself, but whether or not it is a scuffed/worn card vs. a card with a printing error.
And I'm just sitting here, storing my cube in fatpacks.
Maybe I should keep my eyes open for a better option. When I look through all this cool stuff, I'm a little impressed.
I used to store my Cube in fat pack boxes as well, and the cards at either end would sometimes get caught on the inner lining seam of the lid, bending the sleeve. Drove me nuts, which lead me to find a more permanent solution. Though while the wooden box looks nice and separates the cards well, it's more awkward to stuff into a bag or carry around. The fat pack boxes offer more mobility.
I have been on MTGS for years and I only just discovered this thread! I thought I'd share my Cube storage photos. The case is provided by Fox And Dragon on Etsy, and they image on the lid was illustrated by me. I provided them with a black and white image of my work, and they were happy add it for me! I opted for no finish on the wood, as I think it looks nicer, and I wasn't sure what long-term effects the finish would have on sleeves.
As for sleeves, I currently use Dragon Shield, but I hate how non-uniform they are. I'm thinking of switching. Is there a discernible difference in quality between the KMC Mattes and the Hyper Mattes? I'll likely pick up a bulk order of one or the other!
Pretty excited about this. I just had a daughter (my first), and we named her Elspeth. She cost 2WW, and had Suspend - 9 Months. Hope her new incarnation kicks some butt!
Wizards of the Coast is one of the sponsors of the program, and the next episode appears to feature (as seen at the end of the current episode) an elimination challenge based on Magic - more specifically, what appears to be a painting of Chandra. Previous challenges have resulted in the winning art being used for something tangible (like a t-shirt, etc.), so it's possible that Wizards could use the winning submission as a promotional poster or something. However, with the time alotted to the artists, I doubt they could churn out something worthy of card art.
Anyhow, for Magic enthusiasts that want to see a bunch of artists attempt to illustrate one of the game's iconic characters, the next episode will be posted on Tuesday. Just thought I'd give a heads-up!
I didn't like this much at first, but given some time to think about it, I think it could be interesting in a mid-range deck of sorts, like Naya Ramp. Makes the impact of Wolfir Silverheart much greater, for instance. The trick is keeping the goblin alive. If your opponent wants him off the table, he makes it pretty easy, thanks to the 'must attack' clause.
I like cipher, meh on Battalion, Love everything else. Orzhov practically forces you to race them because you won't beat a mechanic that turns 1 and 2 drops into 10 12 or 14 points of life swing(gain/lose 5, 6 and 7 respectively) lategame. I LOVE the potential that extort has.
If you had 5, 6, or 7 permanents with Extort on the table, you've probably won already anyhow. Though, I guess it's likely that we'll see Extort on non-creature permanents.
I have been a Magic player for a very long time, but believe it or not, I have never attended a major sanctioned event, such as the upcoming GP in my fair city of Toronto. And so, I was hoping some people that have attended GPs before could answer a few questions for me..
1. Is the promo card given out for registration in side events as well, or just the main event (Modern Constructed)?
2. Can you just walk around and spectate the event, even if you don't play Magic (like, say, my girlfriend), or is there a door fee?
3. Do the artists charge for signatures on cards?
4. Are there merchandise tables setup at the site? Do they typically have deals?
5. Lastly, the official site states that the side events will include M11 and Scars block draft/sealed events. Is it customary to play older format side events for a Modern GP, or should I expect some RTR (preferred) events as well?
I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth checking out even if I'm not going to play in the main event.

Fine as in, not damaged and actually NM? I don't have any other Masterpiece cards to compare this to, so I'm not familiar with the foiling.

I have attached a few images.

Just curious. Would he have received an infraction warning had he used the term 'murdering' instead?
Have you seen Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx?
I'm a fan of Penny Arcade's 'Strip Search' reality television series, found here: http://www.penny-arcade.com/strip-search

Not necessarily true. The Return to Ravnica reveal came after the Q&A last year.
It's also better in multiples than Fervor. I agree that the drawback is quite significant, though.

I'd love to see it on an enchantment that locks down a creature, like Pillory of the Sleepless.
