I believe they were probably talking about extended since they would currently be testing for PTLA. Otherwise they were talking about the strongest constructed card in the abstract, which might be a fine thought excersize but is kind of useless. "Black Hand" style decks just aren't going to be as good as G/B decks that can accelerate to turn 2 Specter and are capable of Putrefying opposing Jittes. Bob might be playable in that kind of deck, I don't know yet.

I don't remember any of my good plays or really any of my wins. I remember every horrible play I've ever made to lose a game. There should be a thread for that. I'm not going to start it though.

This is funny because my family and even friends are always getting on me to gain weight but I tend to think that's only because I've lost a lot of weight in the last couple of years. When I was a senior in HS I was up to 185 and I tend to think I'm a lot healthier now (apart from the smoking habit).

At the Atl prerelease, duals were going from 18-25 at the start of the day. By the end of the day, most people weren't selling for less than 30. And people were buying them. This ignores the fellow who traded a foil Tomb for a draft set. I almost cried when I saw him do it.

This is a card advantage machine that should ensure that any control deck that is playing green never misses a land drop. It kind of reminds me of a fixed land tax, since it's capable of providing that kind of card advantage if you only want to draw lots of lands or are capable of using your graveyard. It's really strong, basically, but challenging to use correctly.

Yeah, Gifts is basically a G/B control deck splashing blue for card drawing and meloku. The guilds were finalized a long time ago. G/B is this set's "popular" color, as it tends to see play disproportionate to its actual quality (it's generally a tier 2 deck that tends to show up over the last few years in higher numbers than a tier 2 deck would be expected to). As far as the "future face of standard" goes, I'd expect G/B gifts, W/r weenie/sligh and possibly g/b aggro control to be tier one. I'd also expect "putrefy your jitte" will be one of the most uttered phrases at states.

Anyone who says they don't like kids is a damn hypocrite--unless you hated yourself when you were young. In which case you are just mentally disturbed.

I obviously thought I was awesome when I was small, like all kids do, but now I realize that I was just a jerk, like all kids are. I can't stand most people 16 and under. Too loud for my tastes. Why can't they just use inside voices and not repeat themselves if the listener doesn't immediately react with praise?

  • posted a message on Char: Not Psionic Blast
    Quote from Shaharazad »
I'm going to say this simply. Char is a better card than Pscionic blast.

    There I said it.

I will illustrate something now: Which is the better creature, Savannah Lions or Jackal Pup. On first glance, savannah lions looks better. They are both a 2/1 for one mana but the Pup is the stronger creature. Why? Because it is red.

Red is built to use creatures like pup with much much more efficiancy than white. Red is the color that is set up to benifit and use creatures like jackal pup moreso than white is.

Char is also a better card than pscionic blast for the same reason. Because its red.

The only important deck that ever used Pscionic blast was zoo.. and you know what? it used it as a red card. Zoo has red mana, but it wanted to use the best burn available to it. It used Lightning bolt and Pscionic blast (and sometimes incinerate or chain lightning). Trust me, the zoo player wasn't playing that card because it was blue, they were playing it because it was efficiant, powerfull and versitale.

Blue is not set up to use a burn spell like this.. Red is. Char is better.

    :iagree:
In fact, I will go so far as to say that other than the duals and Birds, Char is the best card in the set. Plenty of cards have more raw power, sure, but they are also much more limited in their use. I expect that Char will show up in every deck with red mana in standard and extended for a long time. It's ridiculously efficient and versitile. There were rdw players running Rhystic Lightning in extended last year, which in a deck where the 2 damage is meaningless, is far more limited in it's use. Char gives red decks something very important, a way to deal with 4 toughness creatures. I think a lot of people are seriously underrating this card.

The answer is no because it didn't happen. History doesn't exactly give take backs and the wisdom of commanders is a part of military capability, as is the willingness of the government. This kind of hypothetical is ridiculous.
