    What fetch lands are you reading? Read Wooded Foothills as an example. You aren't limited to basic lands, you are limited to lands with Basic types, which more often than not, yes, is basic lands, but the duel lands have basic types. They can be found with the fetchlands.

    Thats true but his argument is true too. Shortly after xth comes lowyn so no more shocklands (assuming they aint in xth (which they proberly wont be if it got fetches)) and lowyn proberly wont make new nonbasic lands with basic land types (seeing as there are only 10 lands with type swamp eg. (4 shock, 4 double, basic and snow))

    actually they are CE most of time. from Wiki:

    ...Most prefer to work alone but will sometimes join or form a group which usually doesn't last very long. Typically, chaotic evil people can be made to work together by force or through self-interest, and their leader lasts only as long as he can thwart assassination attempts.
    this section atleast is very close to normal drow (we are after -10,000 DR so drow) behaviur.
    ...a violent and reckless criminal who would stab the back of the man who helped him are all examples of Chaotic Evil characters.
    That fits most drows too...

    Drow justice="if they got no survivors, that meanes we didnt do anything..."

    From scandinavien mythos dwarves would be the most superior craftsmen (and I think that would place them pretty close to Tolkiens version), which would place them in UR (inteligence and creative).

    I got a feeling that if that festering goblin creator is cheap egough its going to become a huge pain somewhere :). It can shape the equvivalent of an super shock to attacking ground creatures for only 1 mana.

    Bots are around until WOTC makes them not legal (which is unlikely at this point). And also many bot farms are just ran though multiple computers via a router. At times its cheaper to pay $50 for a junk computer and run a bot on it, then it is to have a system that can handle running windows a couple times over.

    This is proberly true if you think about how much the setup cost. BUT I am pretty sure that an couple 50$ crap comp will use way more electricty (spelling) then an good laptop (I suppose a good laptop will use the least, or maybe an dedicated server but that will require some more insigt into the problem).

    Btw. I think that they atleast hit the most important aspect - lag - but I am not sure its not abit theire own mistake since I think its gotten alot worse in the last couple of months (they might have moved ppl from "making mtgo 2 stay online" to "develop mtgo 3" which might have an effect on uptime and lag and so on)

    I thought abit about it. I think its because whites mentra is "dont mess with me or my boys". White cares about (small) creatures nearly exclusivly and so lands, artifacts or cards doesnt matter (there aint that many lands/ artifacts that would do anything to creatures so no reason to blow them up). I suppose an better fit for white would have been the creature part of balance (maybe have them sacing down to your nr. of creatures instead) over *** but ***s way is simpler for newbies I suppose (which would be important in a base set).

    btw. can anyone tell me why the removel of wrath from alpha would have removed mass creature destruction from white but removing shatter or stone rain or most other very basic spells from any color wouldnt remove that aspect from that color. heck if green had a card in alpha named "cobra bite" that killed nonartifact creatures wouldnt green then have gotten more nature themed removel spells (Eg. the assasin ("hunter") type cards would look pretty natural I suppose)?

    Do you honestly think junk like temporal isolation or faith's fetters could possible compare to Skred, Sudden Shock, Char, Rift Bolt, Demonfire, Last Gasp, Disembowel, Sudden Death, on a scale of point removal? There is a reason white is only 3rd best at killing creatures after R and B, and each of the three spells you chose to include don't even send the creature to the graveyard (ie. "kill" the creature)! Even condemn is a purely defensive card which can only be used against an attacker.

    I am not sure white is best but its better then black...

    I am comparing cards with the excat same mana cost (in different colors naturally) to be fair...

    temporal vs last gasp. last gasp stops dark confidant and cant stop large creatures such as dragons or even an loxodon but temporal stops well nearly everything and is the BEST removel spell vs hellkite

    condemn vs. dark blast... dark blast is good in the decks its played in but usually mainly for its dredge (to get something else into the gy). In a deck that doesnt go for that condemn is usually alot better... btw. the only attacker part. How often does your oppeont chose to keep his creatures home and wouldnt you be perfectly happy if he chosed never to attack? Isnt the hole (well most of it atleast) point with creatures to attack?

    the only (useable) black removel spell in std with an casting cost equal to 3b is Tendrils of Corruption. The problem is that to get even close to faiths fetters its casting cost is pretty close to bbbb which is would make it worse...

    btw. disembowel. Are you trying to say its an constructed playable removel spell? most of the time its loss of tempo (most of the time you aint killing token elepanths...) which makes it subpar...

    I don't remember what was in them because it was a draft we did today, but I think wizards is screwing people on damnation. 5 groundbreakers and 1 damnation out of 2 box that had been gone through.
    That seems wrong. Sure its possible that they were just unlucky boxes (or lucky but not lucky enough) but still it sucks.
    In a 15 man draft yesterday there were 2 non foil damnation and 1 foil. That should make it even with that you got (3 out 45 == 1 / 15)

    Main reason causing Shadow mechanic's so unbalanced is small quantity of creatures/effects with it. Shadow and Flying are quite similar, but Flying is many times more often (thus balanced). WotC should use their experience gained from cards using Flying keyword, when creating Shadows.

    I think there's a great possibility that we'll find many new Soltari, Thalakos and Dauthi in FS.

    The funny thing is that Flying is better then shadow in a vacuum (fliers can block none fliers but shadow cant block non-shadow), but because there so few of them its the other way around...

    Okay, brothers, if I am right about this being a Welsh (or, perhaps more generally, a Celtic) block. Here's what is mythologically Welsh:

    - Legends. Not as much as CHK, but still... Think Taliesin, Aneirin, and the Mabinogion.
    - Emphasis on clans.
    - Three is a number that is constantly recurring: three-headed demi-gods, three warring clans, etc.

    Legends are pretty common in all kinds of mythologically - I havnt read that much welish tho so maybe they got more... (I ve mostly read scandinavien and a bit of greek, roman and some indian)

    Actually the clan (you mean "clan" in the sense of extended familly right?) emphasis is pretty common back in the day (the vikings had a great deal and there were alot of it in the middle ages)

    3: this is mostly to the poster asking about it. 3 is very common because 3 is very common... What I mean is that 3 is there because its easier to remember. If you are not sure about whatever the hero meet 3 or 4 monsters it were proberly 3. I suspect that if you go back to the time the legends were made were proberly wouldnt have been that emphasis but the story tellers have then changed the story to make it easier to remember.

    Anyone think rebels could be competitive? I was just wondering, as the few I had were devestating at the prerelease.

    I won my prerelease on the back of 7 rebels with 3 fetchers among them (ok and an insane amount of removel (11 pretty good removel spells (2 mass - white (old) magus and that 3 damage to everything) in BRW and that white gaze (tap 3 white) thing over that - ohh and two utopia vows which I didnt play...)).

    What said I dont think they will be powerfull egough for std (maybe block tho). If they get some 1 mana rebel fetchers it might work I suppose (and find a way to effeciently stop ds).

    On the other hand it might work if they go rogue (you oppeont goes 4x dragon and hits you for 5 each time, with the last one on stack you can fetch Children of Korlis and sack it for 15 life. follow up with wrath and that should be game or fetch that gain 2 life then enters or leaves play flying rebel and chump block next turn (yes you will go to 4 (and can then sac annother child for 15 life - thats one harsh game... sacing children...)

    On an side node Big Game Hunter is an rebel and even if he isnt that good for madness fetching uncounterabel removel is nice... Smile

    Most underrated card: Dichotomancy

    I suspect that you are wrong. Atleast as far as I remember it (from the prerelease yesterday) it only let you find TAPPED non land perments - I hope I am wrong tho.

    Most overrated (for std): magus of the bazar. Yes the draw 2 cards part is fine but I doubt you will find any deck that can abuse discard 3 in std. An reanimator deck only needs to discard 1 card (each turn if he is playing dredge) madness might be able to use 2 but not always (since the madness do cost some mana). If you are only going for that few cards looter-il kor might be a better fit (or some random tap: loot if you are afraid of desert).

    most underrated (still for the purpose of std): sulfur elemental:

    it owns matyr.

    it is an effecient cant-be-countered beat stick vs. UX control (and destroyes sacred mesa while it is at it) and it got 2 thoughness which will protect it abit from deserts...

    Its fine vs. boros (alot of thier creature got 1 thoughness(lion, priest, thrower + more) and you can use it for blocking if you play it in combat (to remove that +1/ part).

    vs. most else its just an efficent beater with flash. 3/2 flash 2r is above the curve I think - there is that 1gr flash haste 3/1 which I suppose is on the curve but thats harder to cast and got less toughness but got flash+haste which isnt that much more then just flash since you cant use both at the same time (normaly).

    Or you can just use it together with that neat artifact, what's his name, that makes everything get +1/+1 for each creature with the same type.
    Could someone please tell me it's name?

    My flight there were 2 akromas in 3 boosters, 2 damnation (1foil) in a single booster

    That would be a funny pack in draft "hmm, I am second, there is an damnation in the pack and a commen is missing. What went wrong?"

    on the other hand getting 2 of the same rares shouldnt be that hard. Remember that you got 1 rare in the first pack and then you got 1/40 to get the same rare in pack two and then in the last pack (assuming that the first two wasnt the same) you got 2/40=1/20 or 3/40 all in all which isnt that low from my pow...

    Wild Pair 4GG
    EnchantmentWhenever a creature comes into play, if you played it from your hand, you may search your library for a creature card with the same total power and toughness as that creature and put it into play. If you do, shuffle you library afterwards.

    Did anyone else get the crazy idea when seeing this of using Arcbound creatures to search out bigger arcbound creatures? same with Spikes or Graft creatures?

    sorry but it waits until the creature is in play so you cant do that (ok if you got night of souls betrayal or something. Remember it use last known info (I do not know if you can have a negativ thoughness (but guess not since a negativ power is 0 - its just harder to pump))

    now you can proberly find some combos like whitemane lion or other rescurers (bounce them self) to fetch 4-creatures out your deck (saffi eriksdotter and that return a 3 or less costing creature to play - now you just need an soulwarden or the new remake or teysa) and be able to do it over and over again...

    now I think about it that could make for an seriusly fun casual deck:

    //combo:
    4 eriksdotter
    4 2/2 return thingy

    //make the combo do something:
    2 w-soulwardens
    4 g-soulwardens
    2 teysa

    //fetch combo:
    4 congreation at dawn
    4 wild pair - I dropped the whitemanes for the dawns - proberly easier to get working now:/
    4 that comultive upkeep from csp (fetch a creature equal to # of counters) - you need to keep teysa alive for a turn but do have eriksdotter as backup after the 3'th find a creature... (it goes something like this 1: g-soulwarden 2: eriksdotter 3: teysa 4: 2/2 return thingy: inifinte life if you got a soulwarden infinte creature+removel with teysa - naturally you could stop at anytime if you got the combo by sacing the enchantment)

    //acceleration:
    4 utopia sprawls (harder to kill then birds - undervalued me thinks)
    4 bop - llanowars might be better - needs testing
    2 llanowars

    4 temple garden
    4 overgrown tomb
    4 GW pain lands
    4 GB pain land
    3 forest
    3 vitu ghazi - wincon (with inifinite life (this is assuming that teysa doesnt do her job) a token a turn should be egough for everybody (maybe not vs sacred mesa but hopefully they got less cards left then you) ;))

    //sb:
    you could morph into glare I suppose...
