Arcanis, meet Spark Elemental. Somehow, I think you're going to get along just fine.

    It's not efficent egough :/.
It would have to compete in a format were decks can go turn two akroma's memorial followed by turn 3 blazing archon (and thats proberly not the best deck)...

Well, King could be a creature class considering they are going for "Race Profession" most of the time.

It would have the same problems as lord (Ok, you won't need abitary selecting then it shifts from "not a lord" to "a lord") so thats not a good idea either.

Spark Elemental will be played. Mark my words. With that huge Elephant running around, yeah, it will.

Asa for the flavor texts, really nice sayings there from our favorite legends. Go Konda!

Lava Spike wasn't played outside combo didcated to it and that card is alot better (arcane and your oppents large toughness creatures won't matter)

I would say 'yes' you can attack with it since Delay reads:

"If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend. (At the beginning of its owner's upkeep, remove a counter from that card. When the last is removed, the player plays it without paying its mana cost. If it's a creature, it has haste.)"

I could be wrong though. Smile

I think you are right. Annother funny thing with that haste is that it doesnt last until eot which is slightly wird (if your oppeont gains control of it it will still have haste and he can attack with it). There are very few things that requires ppl to remember stuff but you actually should remember whatever or not it was suspended:/

I can't figure something out. They said Norritt's ability didn't work, but I didn't get the explanation.

"Norritt is getting a functional change—it's changing from not functional to functional! Its current Oracle wording has a paradox that makes the card broken: There's a play restriction that's dependant on knowing what the target of the ability is. You can't choose the target until after you start playing the ability... but you can't start playing the ability until after you know what the target is. It's getting fixed."

I see that Nettling Imp is worded slightly differently than Norritt, but I don't see how they do anything different.

I think the problem is this:

How to play a spell (Stolen from cranial insertion)

Announce (and put the spell on the stack)
Choose (what it does, which modes, what additional costs to pay, X, etc.)
    Target (if necessary)
How (it affects those targets, if there are options)
Total (cost: mana cost plus additional costs minus cost reductions)
Mana (abilities may be played now)
Pay (and then it becomes played)

The problem is that you play a spell(or an abillity) (step 0) before you chose targets (step 3). Yet you can only play it "during target creature's controller's turn before the declare attackers step.". Thats not posible to know since you havnt chosen the target yet.

A posible reasoning for this would be something like:

"during target creature's controller's turn before the declare attackers step."

you havnt chosen a target yet so target creature is nothing:

"during nothing's controller's turn before the declare attackers step."

a logical controller of nothing would be none

"during none's turn before the declare attackers step."

nothing's turn before the decalre attackers step would be no periode (because none doesnt have a turn)

    "during no periode"

to do something during no periode is the same as not doing it.

Pithing needle. What type of question is that? To all the people who voted for troll ascetic, I would just like to point out that using a pithing needle on a troll ascetic will make it quite useless. So even if troll ascetic IS good, pithing needle will steal its spotlight by making it a lot more useless. I don't get why people would say Wrath of God or Birds of Paradise are chase rares. They've been around almost every core set already. We're not going to quake our knees for that.

I am not sure that an 3/2 "can't be the target of spells your oppeont plays" isn't the best 3 drop in green anyway...

Pithing Needle, fantastic card, with so many great uses. Another money card for 10th.

(Disclaimer: I am looking on it as a standard card)

It's not what it were. There isn't any Jittes or Melokus or Arashi or stuff like that and glare, greater good and Dralnu (as in the card) isn't played currently and it doesn't stop lotus bloom. It might stop a few guild lands here and there and it might be okish vs. Bridge (but there is so much better hate vs that deck). I am not able to view the deck lists from Frank Karstens articels right now so I might have missed a few. Now I think about it it would be okish vs. saffi deck tho (offline).

Yes, it might get better later on but its not THAT strong right now.

the first new card type since Alpha isn't tribal ... because tribal was already in time spiral block and it's also no new card type ... i'm looking forward to see good ol' merfolk soon ^^ ... and i hope the plainswalker have style ...

mmh ... did i miss something ... there were no planeswalker in time spiral block ... it's just in the rules ...

Are you sure the excat wording is along the line of "The first new card type since alpha will be in Lorwyn"? If so that doesn't mean that Lorwyn will be the first to have that type just that it will have it...

Btw. the reason its in the rules is that its mentioned in the flavor text of Tarmogoyf (even if flavor text doesn't matter rules wise)...

With other land searching cards, a deck of thid magnitude would decimate, possibly; such as: Search for Tomorrow, Weathered Wayfarer, Greenseeker, Evolution Charm.

annother atleast interresting option is karoos. You can play lands AND hit your oppeont with them at the same time... Smile

Btw. Search for tomorrow wont be better with SA and I am not sure greenseeker will be that practically (Evolution charm got egough other things it can do to make it okish and I think WW would be pretty nice)

Well, once Ravnica rotates, this card is immune to most of the decent creature removal in T2 I think, isn't it?

What is played that hits black creatures other than Putrefy and Mortify? (Oh, and Sudden Death, but there's not much we can do about that, is there? :P)

EDIT: I mean spot removal, so don't be sayin Wrath and Damnation :p

Char and white pacifism-removel (and condemn) works...

    Best... deck... ever....

who needs Power 9? Deck of commons FTW!

ACtually since we are talking about freeform its not the best.

take all the black one drops you can get your hands on.

    Add Nektrall avatar
    add Oni avatar
And every other avatar that helps that
You can start on any life tota/hand size you deam fitting by adding the right combinations of vanguards (fx. you will need slightly more the 3 loxodon avatars to survive his 56 damage combo

Why can't people get it into their heads... This. Is. Not. Loxodon Hierarch. Points against hierarch:

    a) Multicolored
    b) The complicated Regeneration Ability.
    c) It doesn't hold a selesnya staff, Loxodon Hierarch is an enforcer I believe for the Selesnya.
    d) Baloth got voted out, making it obvious they only wanted baloth as the Life Gain creature.

    a) Multicolored is among the simplest mechanics (The simplest?) not in a coreset. I can see that point going either way. But naturally they allready made legends.
    b) This might be a good point except that they usually allow regeneration atleast on uncommons and up and the difference from regenerate this creature to regenrate all creatures isnt that hard (My POW of cause)
    c) Did you know that Goblin Spelunkers isnt normaly cleaning chimnies like theire Rav version? flavor can be changed.
    d) Does this mean they wont print an red x-spell since we voted earthquake out (you know that would actually be new...)?

Lol, armageddon, sinkhole, strip mine, and a bunch of other cards MIGHT be better. And if detritivore is enough to discourage you from playing treetop village and faerie conclave, you've got a lot to learn.

You need to realize just how good these cards were when they first came out.

One of detrivores strengths is that it is CA AND its LD effect is more or less uncounterable (the thing that (among others) made strip mine one of the best ld things ever).

Btw. Erhnam Djinn was one of the best creatures of its time yet I dont think it would be played ecspecially much now adays... Time changes... - Now I wouldnt be suprised if those lands are still good egough but your argument isnt that strong...

Modular is incredibly easy to understand. "This guy has some counters and gives them to things when he dies". And so is Entwine. "Pay this cost and get both options, w00t" They're hardly complicated.

    Compared to gold cards?

Pay the cost in the top right connor to play this... Like always

    Artifacts:
-Citanul Flute - interresting. Might be good in multiplayer with seedborn muse but is proberly to expensive

    Black:
-Deathmark - well nones suprised :/
-Graveborn Muse - this is a suprise tho. 2 days after I buy a online play set even Smile
    -Mass of Ghouls - boring
    -Nightmare - so?
-Recover - I am pretty sure they will mention this abit on mtg.com... Its the same name as an mechanic in stanard. It does seam pretty. I am sure it would be played if it was an instant atleast.
-Relentless Rats - interresting with csp and its stone still arround (maybe not good egough but it will need to be tried)

    Blue:
-Cancel - well what did you expect?
-Dreamborn Muse - I dont really like it but that might be just me.
-Flashfreeze - well its a cycle 'nuf said
-Hurkyl's Recall - not in standard but extend might like it

    Green:
    -Birds - YES!!!
-Joiner Adept - thats not bad either
    -Karplusan Strider - not interrested
    -Overrun - might be good
-Root Maze - oni in online vanguard. YOU ARE OWNED! Smile
-Scion of the Wild - nice casual I suppose
-Seedborn Muse - its a good multiplayer card (well not that good in offline 2hg but its good in online)
    -Tangle Spider - not impressed
-Upwelling - well there might be a deck for it but I dont know what it should be.

    Red:
    -Cryclasm - well ofcouse
    -Goblin Lore - thats nice.
-Lavaborn Muse - to bad its the rack and not black vise
-Prodigal Pyromancer - well no suprise

    White:
-Aura of Silence - Nice - white is pretty good at what currently
-Condemn - The best removel spell in standard. Nice (if you look away from reds tendency to burn to the face)
-Luminesce - its not even that good vs dragon storm :/
-Windborne Muse - thats ok I suppose.

    Land:
-Terramorphic Expanse - nice but wont TSP block be with 10th about half its life time? but still nice
-All ten Painlands - no fetchs? ahh well its proberly cheaper to continue with those Smile

    Not in 10th:
Savannah Lions - not quite fair with what green got but hey, they might get something else.
Stone Rain - well they dont like having more then one nonconditional ld spell at 3 in std at a time (or more excatly they like to think about it very carefully). So it opens some design space.
Verduran Enchantress, - atleast white got one in TSP block and white seames to be a larger fan of enchantments anyway

All in all: happy for green - they get alot of new nice (old?) stuff. BOP is not gone Grin
