    Well, Dark confidant's fairly good... decently comperable to Arena, it's fairly expensive (in life) and slow, but will eventually take over the game on it's own (if it doesnt kill you), if it's not dealt with. Problem is, the fact that it comes with a 2/1 body means that it's a lot easier to deal with... It will probably see play in the occasional B deck, but it's not amazing, since the amout of damage it does to you means that it doesn't fit in many decks, and practically any deck can deal with it, not just one built on total creature denial or with artifact destruction.

    Sorry I couldn't stop my self.

    I think Lyzolda is a fine card. If you were playing R/B you should proberly play her. The thing about being easy to kill isnt that important. Compare to meloku. The only card that gets played (main deck atleast) that can kill Lyzolda but not meloku is Helix and seal of fire (I dont think the -1/-1 dregde is that hot in standard and I am not counting pyroclasm since you generaly want to make him use it to early)

    I imagine if the set follows what Magic Lampoon is saying, as they are a valuable new source for "rumors", i`d imagine he`d be something like this

    Dead Dead Dino - 3BG
    Creature - Zombie
    When Dead Dead Dino comes into play, sacrifice it.
    0/1

    "Ach Hans, Its a Lhurg.....eh, em .... Dead Dead Dino"

    ...i got nothin`

    I would imagine that they would make some really good cards now that they used so bad an reason to make them in the first place:

    Super fast Dino 3B
    Instant - Dino
    Trample, haste

    "Dinos are like fast. Like insanely really really very fast. They run fast, they fight fast, they die fast"
    25/1

    Super counter UU
    Sorcery
    Counter target spell, abillity, game effect, land (We remade the way lands get into play just for this card) or mana abillity.
    "You would like a powerfull cheap counter? Here you go"

    Btw. this was supposed to be sacasm (and the cards can't do anything (a sorcery counter and instants can't be in play))

    Uhn... I think I got what you meant, but just putting a 'snow-covered token' on a land doesn't make that land snow-covered.

    How about this?

    Glacial Drifts
    Snow Covered Land
    T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
    ,T: Target land becomes snow-covered in addition to its types until end of turn.

    And my own idea:

    Spring Vale
    Land
    T: Add 1 to your mana pool
    1, Sacrifice a Snow-covered land, T: Search your library for a non-snow-covered basic land and put it into play tapped. Shuffle your library afterwards.
    Because even the Ice Age must come to an end.

    I think the original idea would be more like this:

    Glacial Drifts
    Snow Covered Land
    T: Add 1 to your mana pool.
    ,T: Put a Snow counter on target land.
    Lands with a Snow counter on are Snow cowered lands.

    (I dont know if that would stop them being eg. artifacts - would be cool for trivia reasons but pretty bad for flavor)

    Ohh, if I understand your second card correctly you would like to give mana fixing to all colors provided they play mostly (as in all except for 1 of each or so) snow cowered instead of non-snow cowered? (I suppose you need a life payment or so to make it "fair")

    Overrated: Condemn, Spell Snare

    Underrated: Rakdos Augermage

    Yes, I suppose Spell Snare is a bit overrated right now. No matter how good it is it will just lower the amount of 2 mana stuff that gets played...

    BUT condemn??? Its not that good in ww(or boros or whatever you want to play) but in control or agro/control it should work wonders... (How many creatures are you afraid of if they do not attack? Cytoplast Manipulator and meloku?) Heck it even eats dragons...

    overated: plexmantra.

    Its a nice anti removel trick and its a nice combat trick, but plexcaster frogling's activation cost 2 mana too (which is just as good vs removel) and there isnt that many things you would want to use that combat trick vs anyway. Ohh and since its G/U 3 mana isnt that much different from 2...

    BTW. I really really like simic and plexmantra but I still think its alot worse then plexcaster...

    underrate: utopia sprawl

    its better then birds in few (as in 2 or 3) color decks (assuming no clocks) vs. everything but domain and owl (ok birds/landmowers are very nice vs owl which might make up for it...) - looking back on it that few colors and no clock might remove most of the decks anyway (maybe some kind of glare or critcal mass (or an combination of those 2))...

    Btw. who rates Cytoplast Root-Kin low? 4/4 lord for 4 mana with nothing but advantages...

    Vig and the 56 land Terravore deck. woot. Sure you might get a terravore on a lucky hit with the vig, but that is probably rare.
    I would guess that it is limited to the format you are in. So if you use it in Vanguard Open you can get a lot more choices than in Vanguard Standard.

    The best deck would proberly be 4 terravores 4 crucbles 4 dark confindant (2/1 and draw a card for very close to free) and 4 life from the loom and lots of karoos (and some basics)... [edit] and some utopia sprawls - free mana accel past turn 1 would be nice[/edit]

    But its not about the best deck (I think the 60 basic lands (its more fair with basic lands - more tactics, less streagy) one is the coolest deck I've heard about for a long long time...)

    I hope its the partion one because I dont doubt this will become expensiv (I havnt really played on MODO before - one draft and a few casual games (mostly offline draft/a bit type 2 but if this is the partion one I will get it (if its the other I will see if I can buy it cheap (hope hope hope))

    Wow, what a crazy avatar. You were unlucky to get those cards pop up.:( I wonder who's going to "break" it?:)

    So by "random" it means "any card with converted mana cost X in the entire MTGO data base"?

    Chances are hardly any people are going to want this. It's just too erratic for most players liking.:)

    but its differnetly a cool format (that 60 lands+ momir vig). Perhaps you could chose format like eg. standard (I dont have an idea what would happend if you chosed 11 then tho (no critters I think) - perhaps the same as if you tried to play something illegal in paper (eg. you didnt and you rewind back)...

    Could anyone report if you could play with it only in some specifik block? that could be ultra cool...

  • posted a message on [DIS] Worst Card
    I've thought abit about it and come to that conclusion that there are really no worst card (well maybe except wit's end) because:

    the eicheleons are pretty fine in limitet (take the black: chump + get steal a life point + (kind of) easy resurect thats a really good deal for 4 mana).

    street savy was bound to get out to mirror sooner or later (and its seames that should be now) web and its proberly nearly strikely better in this block (for limitet at the very least) because of the absurd high lvl of flying creatures - normally you should be able to win if you got like 8 flyers and alot of ground stall. not anymore now your oppeoent might have more then 8 on the other hand 8 landwalkers should win you the game (they should be unblockable just slightly above 50% of the time (a estimate would be 75% if its green we are talking about - mana fixing + accel rules in this format (more then removel?)).

    Wit's end wasnt bound to happend tho (well except that they seam to like short rules text if they can get away with it (time stop)) and a slight bit overcosted too.

    I think it says alot about the powerlvl of a set if its worst card (atleast pretty low) got an very strong effect (if you look on magic theory atleast). Perhaps its meant to be an expert version of a learning tool (like that "enchanted creature gets island walk" thing from the base set) just alot harder to evaulate because it got an really nice effect...

    prahv got an nasty effect for limitet and can be hard to win over ("You would like to burn my creature? Well CA is some good I hear") and atleast if you are splashing green/played green (as most were if they played UW in the prerelease - same reason why ppl played GWB in guildpack just a tidbit stronger because there are the same nr of cards from both rav and dis and only ~50% of the multicoloured cards from rav was GW or GB as oppoesed to the ~66% of GU and WU in dis...

    This is look from a POV from block limitet, naturally fully 50% of the cards are subpar in this set...

    Aurora Eidolon :3mana::symw:
    Creature - Sprit
    :symw:, Sacrifice Aurora Eidolon: Prevent the next 3 damage that would be dealt to target creature or player this turn.
    Whenever you play a multicolored spell, you may return Aurora Eidolon from your graveyard to your hand.
    2/2

    Might become very very annoneying in limitet

    Beacon Hawk :1mana::symw:
    Flying
    Whenever Beacon Hawk deals combat damage to an opponent, you may untap target creature.
    :symw:: Beacon Hawk gets +0/+1 until end of turn
    1/1

    hmm, ninja-bird, targeted creature HAD vigilance. pretty cool. (Its very very good it wasnt just damage - infinite damage on turn 3 (this + that UR-grull (misprint) enchantment))

    Mistral Charger :1mana::symw:
    Flying
    2/1

    Proberly good in WW and limitet

    Soulsworn Jury :2mana::symu:
    Creature - ??
    :1mana::symu:, sacrifice Soulsworn Jury: counter target creature spell
    ?/?

    This might be an house in limitet if its stats aint to bad.

    Cackling Flames :3mana::symr:
    Instant??
    Cackling Flames deals 3 damage to target creature or player.
    Hellbent - If you have no cards your hand, Cackling Flames deals 5 damage to target creature or player instead.

    5 damage for 3 is pretty good I hear (It can even burn dragons if you want to)

    Taste for Mayhem red mana
    Enchantment - Aura
    Enchant Creature
    Enchanted creature gets +2/+0.
    Hellbent - Enchanted creature gets an additional +2/+0 as long as you have no cards in hand.

    So if you take a black effect and makes it red it gets better? unholy strength

    Riot Spikes B/R mana
    Enchantment - Aura
    Enchant Creature
    Enchanted creature gets +2/-1.

    clining darkness (enchated creature gets -4/-1)was pretty okish in limitet since removel was so high picked (as allways) and could stop some large creatures (it might even kill then it got played like an slow combat trick) but this makes the creature more aggresiv? not that good...

    [edit] I didnt see the last 3:

    Jagged Poppet :1mana::symb::symr:
    Creature - ??
    Whenever Jagged Poppet is dealt damage, discard that many cards.
    Hellbent - Whenever Jagged Poppet deals damage to an opponent, he or she discards that many cards as long as you have no cards in hand.
    3/4

    N A S T Y with instants...

    Rise :symu::symb:
    Sorcery
    Return target creature to its owner's hand. Return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand
    ------------
    Fall :symb::symr:
    Sorcery
    Target opponent reveals two cards at random from his or her hand, then discards all nonland cards revealed this way.

    Hmm the card comboes with its other part? pretty cool I suppose...

    To whoever talked about Ritual:

    It wouldnt be more powerfull then one additionel mana so if you dont draw more then one you couldnt play the large stuff turn 1 anyway and we already got the GR common hybrid for acceleration later on... (turn 2 hypnotic specter (or the little poppet) in BR MIGHT get annoying very fast).

    She’s A LOT better than she first looks… keep in mind you’ll likely have other little simic grafters on the board when she comes out, and could easily be a 3/3 or 4/4 right out of the gate… then when someone drops a dragon or something? “oh well, it gets a +1/+1 counter off her and it’s mine now.” Not to mention other ways to give her more counters. I honestly think she’ll going to be one of the “secret” treasures of the pre-release. Grab them now for 2$ a piece, they’ll be selling for 8-10 in a month. also, Graft suddenly became VERY good with the proper wording now revealed. Simic will be the suprise powerhouse of the set i think, much like how Orzhov ended up outshining Izzet.

    Orzhov was meaned to be the spike guild in guildpact, so it kind of makes sense it would be the most powerfull.

    Btw. UG should be pretty bad not to become atleast an contender to the crown for strongest color combination seeing as UG was pretty strong in Ravinica-T2, if they gave it an fair powerlvl compared to the other guilds kamigawa (meloku, Sac-elder and so on) should be able to give it the last little something.

    Actually I supsepect the power lvl will deppend on how much done they where with Simic at the time UG was at its strongest...

    You nay-sayers are missing the obvious. Sure she can be SHOCKed, but don't forget, she's a part of the simic clan. As as a part of that clan, you can be sure that there will be plenty of +1/+1 counters floating around for her needs...She won't be so easy to kill as a 5/5 creature now will she? (and to those of you who say she can be putrefy-ed, no duh. But you can say that for just about EVERY creature)

    uhhh, actually I think you made a mistake if she gets putrefied... We are talking about UG control here... Grin (play disrupting shoal... - You should (hopefully) have alot of 3 drops in this kind of deck anyway - or just wait with until you get counter backup (as in blue) for her next round before you start dishing out the counters (as in +1/+1))

    btw. the land is pretty nasty with her...

    Btw. is it just me or is this kind of an Ambiguity combo deck? Grin

    Syzygy better-then-instant-wrath for one more mana???

    I got an idea. As I understand Alongi's thoughts about multiplayer it needs to generate card advantage (so except for the rediculus cost it was a good sugestion).

    So what about
    "You become the controller of target spell.

    You may reselct any number of targets for that spell"

    [edit] kind of control magic on the stack, I think it would be a fair price even[/edit]

    [edit 2] plo koon 200's wording is better I think[/edit 2]

    I really don't want to drag this out (I am only doing so for my own clarification on rules) and your probably right.

    But if my opponent attacks with a Jitte equipped creature and I have a
    Sakura-Tribe Elder out. He declares attackers then I declare blockers
    and my Tribe Elder blocks his Jitte equipped creature.

    Then my opponent will probably ask "damage on the stack?"

    To which I will respond "No I'm going to sack my Elder prior to damage."

    The effect is that he will get no Jitte counters.

    If a creature with trample doesn't need to damage a creature anymore to hit a player I really need to brush up on my rules.

    Edit: Spelling.. and other noobishness

    Interresting. I was under the impresion that you could actaually let the damage stack first (so your sac-elder would deal his damage) before the sacrifice since the damage would be prevented for lack of a target (well not "target" as such but still)

    Btw. Kraj could benifit from auras that gave abillitis to the creature it was on - to get twice the millage out of them (so you could play a aura on your own or your oppeonents creature and give it an +1/+1 counter and your kraj would have a new abillity) but there aint really any good ones in type 2 right now (I could only find, midnight convenat (+1/+1 until eot with for black) - which is to expensiv (in black mana then you want to play a double GU creature allready) and sinstriker's will (tap: deal damage equal to power to target attacking or blocking creature) - sinstriker might be nice since you problery want to use krajs abillities anyway (instead of attacking))

    [edit]Zombiemachine, hey it even deals 1/3 of his life rouned up in damage the first time...[/edit]
