I've had a soft spot for Norin for a long time. I've been playing Norin in Modern since early 2012. I haven't posted to MTGS for a long time however. I figured I may as well post my variant on this deck and get some feedback.
I've tried running 2 Porphoros MD g1 but it runs smoother w/ 1. The deck runs fine on 2 land. The deck runs plenty of artifacts making Ethersworn Canonist asymetrical. g2/3 swap your hatebears to be more effective. I run Stony Silence to go against Robots and voltron. I don't run hate against a lot of decks because of the copious lifegain. Between Bolts, aggro, O-Ring, and Revoker, superfriends aren't a big deal. The onyl deck that really seems to give me trouble is Bogle. For that matchup it basically comes down to whether or not I throw down Thalia and/or Canonist before they get carried away. I'm open to suggestions on how to better hate against it though.
Make him play duels or otherwise exclude him. If someone is playing to exploit the format and get the win, and it's not a competitive setting, it's not fun. Few people enjoy t1 kills in groups games. When they do happen, most groups that I play in say, "ok, gg." and the rest of the people keep playing as though that person lost.
I'm working on a WRb version of this for play at GP Portland in a week. I have a few unique card choices I may keep under wraps until then but I am playtesting 3x MD Aether Vial right now and liking it. It's made my t4/5 much more consistent.
I think many players would be frustrated. Formats give players opportunities to excel within limited frameworks. By restricting card pools in different ways you create possibilities for things to excel that could never execute effectively elsewhere. Each Block, Standard, Extended, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, even casual formats like Pauper, Peasant, EDH/Commander, Prismatic, ... They all benefit from their restrictions. Getting rid of these would make the game dull for a majority of players.
Also, with your list, Hulk Flash sounds like House. GG before you finish your upkeep turn 1.
Being someone who very rarely plays Standard but does play eternal formats (Vintage, Legacy), I'd be extremely reluctant to trade for anything in Standard. I trade rarely. I don't keep up on Standard, the metagame, what's rising or falling. I don't have the time to do that. I'm not involved with it. If I trade for Standard cards, I'm unlikely to trade them again for several months, and there's significant risk of decline in value, particularly if they're about to rotate. Fluctuations are also frequent while cards are in Standard.
A new planeswalker may break $50 one week and be $8 a couple weeks later. This happens much more rarely with Legacy and Vintage staples. Dual lands, Mana Drain, and other staples will continue to increase in price over time with minimal risk.
I don't find playing a judge intimidating. I don't find playing HoFers intimidating. I have often find pro players and some HoFers annoying... but not intimidating. I don't really find playing anyone intimidating I guess, except new players or people I want to make a good impression on.
In full disclosure, I was a judge but let it lapse; I don't have time to judge events anymore.
There are 7 local stores that do FNMs I could go to if I had time. Sometimes some of them do modern but most do booster drafts or Standard to bring in more money for the store.
I was playing a game of chaos magic (deck in the center of made-up cards, special rules that involve dice rolls and putting them into play, yada yada) that ended when a friend of mine with Trouser Snake in play took off his pants (relevant to the card) and threatened to dance erotically on the table unless I attacked my girlfriend. Game was over at that point and Trouser Snake was banned.
I feel it doesn't make sense unless your cube is huge and has decent numbers of relevant Wizards or is a highly focused tribal cube with Wizards as one of your tribes. Even when I was at 720, I didn't even consider this. There's more practical and effective recursion options out there IMO.

Let me know what you think.
I'm envious of you finding Quinton Hoover signatures. He is missed.
The planeswalker rule change I'm not as grumpy about, but still a little grumpy.
The sideboarding rule changes I love. I've never understood why they weren't like that.

I'm looking forward to running this in a casual deck with Legendary Eldrazi.

Seconded. I cut the storm cards when my cube was larger because they were never significant. I've considered re-adding them now that I'm down ~360.
